Good morning Amy. Milk has been going bad for me so I started freezing it in pint jars which is enough for me. No more spoiled milk. I made mushroom soup and froze that in small containers too. Today i baked my own birthday cake. I made 3 small cakes rather than one big one. I will freeze two and just ice the one for today. I am 81 today and live alone, so these freezer things help when I don’t feel good enough to make things. I told you last year when I turned 80 and I can’t believe I am here already to say I am now 81. Still drive, still cook, still clean my house. Now mind you these things are all done much slower, but they get done eventually. Praises to Jesus. Have a wonderful day. Blessings to you and the family.

One thing I do to streamline a meal with chicken is cook boneless skinless chicken along with onion, broth, a packet of taco seasoning and canned green chiles until cooked. Wrap a couple dozen corn tortillas in a damp paper towel, place in a plastic bag and heat in microwave. Then make taquitos…place chicken in center of tortilla, roll and secure with toothpick and stack in container and freeze. Take out as needed. Heat up some oil and cook the taquitos. Place on paper towel to drain, salt and remove toothpicks. Serve with salsa.

Amy, there is actually a dairy free cream of mushroom mix available at Walmart but it’s $6.49, which makes 2 cans, so your version is extremely cost effective!! Great great job!!
The good thing about making the homemade cream of mushroom and cream of chicken soup is that you don't have all those preservatives and ingredients and it you know exactly what's in it and it's got to be healthier for you

For the bananas , if you first peel them, put on tray in half or quarter and freeze.Then place them in bags, it will be easier to break up for either smoothies, cereal or oatmeal.

The refrigerator is it to close to the wall. if so then its not getting enough air flow. or the coils need to be blown out.
Another great video Amy! Lots of great ideas! I cook chicken and hamburger ahead. I also look ahead in my meal plan and see if I need and sliced/cubed chicken for recipes. I trim the chicken, cut it (slice/cube/etc) for whatever recipes I have coming up, put in a labeled freezer bag. So nice to just grab what you need from the freezer. I wanted to share with you what I learned as a restaurant manager in food safety, we were taught to always put all meat in the bottom because if there's any leakage of contamination what is below it.

You can use the plastic baskets in the freezer to help contain the freezer bags and help things from sliding everywhere. I get them from dollar tree .

Watching your videos sure gets me motivated for the day!! Thank you for that! I do my dried beans in the Instant Pot as well. I pressure cook them for 90 minutes and then let them naturally release until the pin drops. I like them pretty soft and I’ve found that this works well. See you tomorrow! 💕

I don't get chicken breasts anymore. I use chicken thighs (boneless/skinless). Chicken thighs really stay tender. Since my diet is extremely restrictive, I have to figure out what to do other than eggs (if I can't get them). I wish I could eat veggies and beans. After chemo my digestive system will not allow for it (I really miss nuts and seeds as well). So I am carnivore now.
I like using fantabulous as a word to show I love something. My kids used to get embarrassed when I would use it in public. 🙂

We love cream of mushroom soup but only homemade. Delicious! As a tip try adding thyme to your sautéed mushrooms. I use fresh but I don’t think it matters that much whether fresh or dried. It really does put it that little notch of flavour. Love your videos!

Good morning. I like to put lyb into my words as well and make up my own. My daughter says the same thing you can't make up your own words. I asked her where the rule is that says I can't make up my own words. It's a difference between making your beans on the stove versus the pressure cooker that you don't have to soak them if you put them in the pressure cooker, but you do if you cook them on the stove. FYI: I got 240 32oz very well made containers at Sam's club for $60, about .25 cents a piece. That's the best price I found. I know it's a storage commitment but I use these alot and give so much away when packing up food for my grown kids that it was a must for me.

If your instant pot dies, remember to keep the metal pot and lid. Then when it is replaced after cooking you can take out the pot of food. Put in the other pot in and cook your next food.
You can make a slurry when making soups and you won’t get lumps. But still bring to a boil to cook flour. Excellent video I need to make these soups for our freezer.
I love making homemade foods is because I know what is in it and I control how much salt, sugar etc. is in the foods we are eating. Also food always tastes better homemade.
The nice thing about lactaid milk is it lasts a really long time in the fridge and you never have to buy regular milk again. It will do everything regular does.
I wish my body could tolerate it.

Hi Amy. I make homemade dog food and I have found that the containers with the screw-on lids work the best for me. They work great in the freezer and the lids seem to hold up very well. They also work great when storing leftovers in the fridge. They are available in different sizes. I am not sure how the cost compares to the snap-on lids so that may be an issue of sorts. Watch the lactose free kids with the lactaid milk. I think I remember you mentioning that they tried the lactaid pills and they kind of worked. If that's the case they will soon build up an intolerance for lactaid/lactose free milk as well. You may find they feel better overall with a non-dairy milk as they are reacting not only to the lactose but other elements of dairy as well. Outside of the "regular" stomach issues that come with lactose intolerance watch them for headaches, joint pain, rash & fatigue.

Homemade is delish as you said Amy. 3 including myself of my tribe are complete dairy intollerant, we cant even have the lactose free range. I am also gluten intolerant. It is so exciting tweeking recipes to make them food allergy friendly. Almond milk is our most go to, find it works great for soups or chicken pot pie plus more, but some recipes require soy as almond is too watery for them.

Just replacing my fridge . Tested positive for Covid & next day fridge died. Probably was going over Sunday & Monday. Thankful for insurance but had to wait 7 days before people could come in to assess. Not that anyone could bring a new one in with isolation restrictions here. Been interesting almost fortnight as it's Summer here 100F days.

Amy, my pressure cooker wasn't working, changed the seal and worked great. Now I keep extra seals on hand.

I buy the huge boxes, in all sizes, of those food containers from Sam's Club.
The butter in the soups are dairy. I can not ingest butter with out reproductions so I have to use natural balance a butter alternative. Margarine works as well for a butter replacement. Love lactaid milk because it is real milk just has lactase enzyme added. When I want to enjoy pizza I have to take 8 lactase pills! They do work great.

Gluten Free cream soup very doable also.
Lactose free milk last for months. That’s all I use.
I switched to Lactate milk for two reasons, one is my stomach can't handle regular milk, number two it doesn't go bad like regular milk.

After watching your video, I'm definitely going to try and make my own cream of mushroom soup, that being said, however, what brand of food processor do you have, and does it share the base with your blender? Your homemade soups may cost a little more, but "YOU" control the salt and it's all pure ingredients, where who knows what all is in that canned stuff. The more you open the freezer the most ice it will build up and you don't want to "over stuff" them either, as that's as bad as leaving them underfilled, it makes the poor thing run more often and not as well.

What was in the vegetable puree that you made a few years back? You made it in the food processor. My daughter is very active in sports, she doesn't like vegetables, but I would love to make it in casseroles.
Any type of veggies puree then up and add to cooked meat or just throw them in your casserole

I think if you pour the milk into a cup, just a bit, and smell it you might find that the smell is coming from the milk carton or jug...not the actual milk. Just a thought because the milk dries around the spout. Also your soups made at home have way more actual mushrooms and chicken than the canned. 😃

I have noticed when I make soup or cream of whatever, sometimes the soy milk separates in my freezer. Extreme dairy allergies in my family, so we avoid it all. Any tips to avoid separation? Thanks.
Also dairy free here. I don't use soy, but I use oat. I also have separation in the freezer. I just plan to stir it back together. If it's something that can go in the blender even better.

Why would you waste freezer space and time making/freezing refried bean when you have 6 cans in your cupboard? Why not use those first and make homemade when you have maybe like 1 can left??
