Low and slow on the pork shoulder. Leave the fat cap on. Once the pork is fall apart tender, the fat cap can be removed before you shred the meat. The fat keeps the meat moist. God luck
Low & slow. Exactly.
@@barbaraperreault1422 yes! Fat equals Flavor in the end
Aldi now owns Winn Dixie. And just like every place you have to watch the sales. If you have one of the large Latin markets around. Like Bravo they almost always have great meat prices. I've seen people buying carts full of meats at these stores. And they have a variety of items that are hard to find things. And I have been wanting to thank you for talking about the mixed chili beans from Walmart. I love them. I had never seen them before you started talking about them. I add them to pasta and soups for the flavor and added protein. 🐚🏖️🦩🌅
Having a hard time finding instant tea. I'm in michigan and I make the same chai tea mixture. When I did find it, it was 7.00 plus dollars a jar.😮
Amy I have an aversion to meat too. Ewww!! I find if I have to process it I have a hard time eating it. But about your pork butt….You do such a great job seasoning that you will do great with it. Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, paprika, cumin, a little brown sugar is what I use. You can’t go wrong with the seasonings, used what you like. Trust me about the brown sugar tho….it’s makes a difference! I would season the night before and let it marinate in the fridge and I cook mine in the slow cooker. Take the meat out and shred it, strain the juice and then put the meat back in the juice and serve!! Delicious! No BBQ sauce needed. It’s good with baked beans and potato salad. We make quesadillas with the left over meat. It’s good on a baked potato with cheese. It makes a good pork and cheese grilled cheese. Lots of yummy ways to eat it. I’m anxious to see how you cook and how y’all like it!! ❤
My husband loves smoke pork, and having the bone-in was best choice. Low and slow is the only way to cook it. Yellow Mustard is a great binder. After we trim the pork, we rub it down with mustard. Then we put our favorite seasonings on it. Meat church offers some great seasonings or you can make your own. If you smoke it correctly, the bone will just fall off, and you can shred it easily. We love bbq sandwiches, stuffed potatoes, bbq nachos, and Brunswick stew. And smoked pork freezes great.
Good morning. Love your shopping videos. What a special day where you could spend the day with Brooklyn. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I will see ya tomorrow
I use my crockpot for pulled pork. This is the seasoning I use McCormick slow cooker bbq pulled pork with stubbs bbq. It is so good and I make cole slaw to go with the sandwich, baked beans & mini corn on the cob. Enjoy and so good!!!!
Whatever you do Amy, leave the fat on the pork as you’re cooking it, take it off right before you shred it. It helps with the juiciness and flavor of your pulled pork.
Thank you for this suggestion
We used to have Winn Dixie in southern Kentucky and i use buy all my canned food there it was cheaper but that was 1970's
I low and slow cook the pork in crock pot and take fat off later it really does make it stay moist! And it is delicious 🎉🎉🎉 I have used it with bq sauce and also pork fajitas🎉🎉🎉
Yes, I do some thing similar but in the Instant Pot, so it's faster, but it mimics low & slow - typically with onion, garlic and kosher salt, that's it! And then later you can make it into so many different things, as you say, like BBQ, chile verde, tacos de carnitas, or with a side of beans & cornbread. CHEAP, too. The roast I cooked just this week was on reduced price at Sam's for $2.48 a pound! Or you can go with the pork "country style" strips which is the same cut but it's sliced into pieces for you so you can make smaller amounts or just not have to juggle such a big roast. (Mine was 8 pounds!)
Hi Amy, just wanted to let you know the sound is still a bit off, it has an echo when you're talking. I'm sure you'll work it out. Have a great day! 😊
I hear the echo too. Isn't technology great?
Yesterday's video (I watch on my tv) I had the sound turned way up and really had a problem hearing you, but today the volume was perfect. I really enjoy these shopping videos. Especially the stores we don't have in Pennsylvania. It's fun to see other stores that families have in their areas. Thanks Amy for all your videos!
I got a package of chicken breast thick, from Sanderson Farms from Winn Dixie. It was 16.48 (2.11) a pound it was discounted to 5.05 with my WD perks card, that's a great deal in my opinion. Chicken breast, no issues and it tasted delicious.
We use to have Winn-Dixie's here in Texas and now they're gone I really miss them I love shopping at that store, we got some great deals shopping at Winn-Dixie when It was here.
Best thing for pulled pork is low and slow.. I have done it on the smoker for like 12 hrs but my aunt does it in the crock pot overnight and it comes out ok.
I believe yellow grits is yellow corn.white grits are from white corn.
I have always been told the same thing.
Sound is really off. Sounds very echoey.
Have you had fried mush (polenta). My grandma used to make it. She fried it to lite crisp. We put butter and syrup on it. Delicious. I still make it once in awhile. I use alvacado oil, to fry it. Be careful, because of the water content, the grease will pop.
I made pulled pork with pork tenderloin. It was extremely dry. You need the fat to keep it moist. After slow cooking, if there are big chunks of fat, just take it out.
I agree with you,I learned that also!
Good to know
Oh let me tell you check has the best off-brand sodas there are no better than check and they have flavors galore😊
That's good to know...told Greg id have a new flavor all the time
Low and slow . Leave the fat on so it won't dry out. I wrap my pork in foil. I put a dry rub. I use brown sugar and whatever seasons but be careful with salt. I'm cooking beef in slow cooker. Oh I did the ground chicken and made chicken patties and frozen them. I was able to get 4 meats with two huge chicken breast
Yummy! Thanks for the tips on the roast. I will try it
Put the pork, fat side up, in the crock pot. Cook it on low all day (like 10+ hours) with whatever seasoning you want. The fat cap will be easy to remove once it’s cooked and most of the marbled fat will melt into the meat.
Get the pork tenderloin and flavor it carnitas style. I think your family would love it and you could use it for tacos, quesadillas, Mexican rice, salads. It's delicious.
The difference between yellow and white grits is yellow and white corn so typically they are the same. Cornmeal and grits are both made from corn.. cornmeal is just ground down a bit more
Great video!
Here for you Amy🎉❤,😊
I usually get the instant tea with lemon and just add a little less lemonade!
Good morning Amy!!!! Have a fantastic day. Happy shopping!!! We are suppose to go shopping later today too. ❤❤❤
My sons love all the weird Winn Dixie sodas. One of their favorites is the red cream soda. But Winn Dixie is best for their BOGOSs. I usually go to Publix & Winn Dixie for their BOGOs then Aldi, Target& Walmart for basic stuff. I have a prepper pantry and deep freezer so stock up on all those BOGOs. Helps so much.
Thank you 😊
With the way grocery prices are these days Bogo’s are the way to go. Some people still have not tried to watch how they buy their groceries and I don’t understand why.
The sound is good! Other channels are doing the samething on my headphones, one ear only
Mrs Amy, for the peppers and onions try washing them off after you chop them. I slice the peppers and freeze them like that and if I need them dice it's easy to. And you can double bag the onions also.
Okay. Good to know. Thank you
Deirwelier's foods looks so fresh and yummy. 😊
1 dollar a loaf is great shopping I love bargains like that
Great haul. I go to different stores. I check a few store ads before so I get the best deals. We separate our meat and put them in seal a meal bags. Meat will last a few yrs in freezer without freezer burn. It usually doesn't last that long tho. I buy a lot of the sale items we use so I can go months without getting more. Groceries are way unreasonably expensive. Things need to change. Take care. 🍁🧡🍁
Winn Dixie is the only grocery store other than dollar stores within 10 miles of our house. We go to Costco when we have meetings near one, but the nearest one is over 70 miles. Aldi is about 25 miles. SO....I regularly comb the weekly ads of WD, and take advantage of their specials. They have some coupons each time picked for me, and those have given me incredible buys. WD customer service is superb in my store too, and it's a regular community gathering place too. AND hubby LOVES the Chek soda pop whatever you call it!!
The pulled pork. Season it and throw it in the crock pot. Fat side up. Take the fat cap off when done then shred. Yummo. Divide it up to use in different dishes.
I believe your assistant fixed your problem already, lol. I love the scented bags , I even bought pink ones for the kitchen! Have a great day!
There’s white n yellow grits. Same thing just color difference . You’ll love it ❤❤
Don’t cut fat off. That’s what keeps meat tender while cooking. The fat will melt when you cook it and you can drain it off at the end. Same with chicken it’s what makes your meats tender. Then at end of cooling drain it. You can also use the fat to make your own broth at end of cooking.
I buy chicken feet for broth, it's a GREAT source of collagen. But I mostly get them for my 3 dog's. It's great for them too! Also cleans their teeth. IF you do choose to ever try it for max, be sure to watch her closely so she doesn't choke and do NOT cook them. Make sure you freeze them once they're frozen keep them in the freezer for another 2 weeks before giving her one. Take 1 out the day before you want to give it and thaw it in your fridge. ❤😊❤
She would probably love it...im afraid of her choking...had that happen before..scared me
@@amymaryon I understand. But you'd be surprised. 😊
Great shopping! This video is sounds a bit like your in a tunnel at first better in the car! Yeah!!
Agree
I think Publix and Winn Dixie are expensive, unless you can find deals. At least that was my experience when we lived in Florida.
Sams club does have elbow macaroni at least I've found it at mine. Great haul
Winn Dixie was one of my first jobs. I didn't know there were still some around. So cool. Great hauls. Would be nice to get those bags of cut veggies and peppers at the SC discount store. You used to love those :-) I am gonna try using ground turkey again instead of hamburger meat. Didn't think about mixing it. Will have to try that too. Hope your week is wonderful.
Farina is ground wheat. It is smoother. Grits are made with ground maize or hominy. It is more gritty and cornmeal is another thing. Cornmeal is much more smoother than grits very similar to polenta. You can get a fine grind.
Good haul.
I agree, sounds robotic, thought it was my phone.
Hi AmyI used to do the pork butt roast for 10-12 hrs overnight in the crockpot. You can get rid of the fat after you cook it.The fat keeps it moist.Bones disenigrate in the crockpot .I use Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce .Lyatt Sandee from Ohio 💜💜🙏🌷🌷🪻🪻🤟😊
I mix pork and beef mince together. (To stretch the mince beef you can add lentils ideal in bolognaise and cottage pie)
I miss the Winn Dixie stores ..they left our area
Put the pork in the crock pot after you season. Sliced onions on the bottom and bottom, then I add ginger ale. At the end of the day you can shred it, pull off the fat cap. I do the barbecue sauce on the side, to solve the problem of everyone liking different types of sauce
Years ago we had Winn-Dixies in NC and I loved their variety of the Chex sodas. The only unsweetened iced tea Iv'e found is the Nestea brand, it's in a glass jar.
Amazon has the instant unsweet ice tea. It comes in a bag for $13. TFS,have a blessed day.
When Winn Dixie has buy one get one on Meat it is worth it. Detweillers has great meat deals too when they have sales
Dr. Pepper pulled pork in crock pot. Onions in bottom of crock pot. Pork , seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic powder in crockpot. Pour a can of Dr. Pepper or Root beer and let cook until pork roast shreds with forks. At this point you can add BBQ sauce to taste or leave as is and add BBQ sauce to individual sandwiches. Good added to casseroles. One of the chef's I worked with taught me that pork can be substituted in any chicken recipe.
Wow it doesn't seem like a whole year and a half already❤
Good Morning Amy 🌞
Hi! I make my pulled pork by putting the roast in my crock pot and adding regular cola and apple cider vinegar (about 2 cups). Slow cook all day. It will have a great flavor and the liquid help make it tender. The fat will be very easy to remove after you cook it. Leaving the fat on to cook it increases the flavor. Enjoy!
We have unsweetened tea. It's already brewed green tea. And they even have tea bags to brew. My mother was lover of brew ed tea.
I only drink unsweetened tea and so does my daughter but I guess that from growing up in Michigan.
Good morning ❤, I ask say a prayer for me as I go for a colonoscopy ty
I loved Winn Dixie meats! Unfortunately, we don’t have any here in SC anymore. When I visit Florida, I enjoy going and reminiscing 😊
Hi Amy , please can you say hello to Rosie the shitzu my little fur baby she loves Maxine . Can’t keep her away from the TV. If I don’t put you on in the morning she pines like a baby until I do . Watching for Maxine . It’s crazy I know . I’ve tried everything to stop her . But shitzu are known for having there way .
Pulled pork - the fat shrinks down, fat means flavour . Cook low and slow and after cooking through so it has a nice crust on it make up a nice barbecue sauce and put in slow cooker for further cooking . It will melt in the mouth . Good to freeze for other dishes Mexican especially.
That way too cute...maxine doesn't pay any attention to the TV so it is interesting when i hear of your dog ....I'll hold her up to the camera one of these days
In South Carolina we used to shop at a discount grocery store called Bi-Lo. They had good deals. Piggly Wiggly was another discount grocery store. Don’t know if they are in Florida near you though. Slow cook the pork and season later.
Our Sam's has eggs 2 dozen cage free organic for 5.68 right now so about 2.80 a dozen which is cheaper than anywhere else so far.. also check any truck stop type gas stations they can be cheaper there
Amy, sour kraut is very good cooked with that pork. Greg will love.
Oh i am sure it is .
When Winn-Dixie runs their weekend meat sales they're usually Friday through Sunday so you could always go on Friday instead of on the weekend that's what I usually do if there's something on sale that I want
Thank you for another great video. You have to get food for your family dont worry about what others think, they aren't eating it. We got some chicken at walmart, and it was stringy and smelled awful. Someone told me that it was probably lab grown meat. We buy meat at a little mom and pops store we have now.
Try cooking the pork in the crockpot with a bottle or can of Dr. Pepper. Makes for a tasty meat.
It IS apple season !!!
Good morning Always check the Winn Dixie ads that cone out Wed, They always have always have goods I always get my meat there and go early for mark downs
Do not remove the fat on the pork. It tenderizes the meat. Low and slow smokes
@@carolehough6071 smoking is best-if you have a smoker, take advantage. Crockpot yields a more stewed meat
I called lipton this week. They told me they "no longer produce that product." So basically, they bought out Nestea, and now you can only get bags or bottled
I may be mistaken, but I believe the zero sugar instant tea,is probably sweetened with some kind of sweetener
Hi Amy and Brooklyn. Low and slow on pork. I use crock pot. Fat will come off easy after cooked. The fat keeps it tender and juicy. Pork butt very good it's usually cheaper also. After it cooks pour bbq sauce over it to simmer and yum. That is good deal on eggs for my area. Winn Dixie very expensive in my area. The beef is always tough and not good at WD. Love the Maryons.
Good to know .thank you
We grew up with evaporated milk in our coffee
When I make my pulled pork sandwiches I put the BBQ sauce on the meat when it's on the bun because not all of my family likes BBQ sauce, that way they can add some BBQ sauce or leave it off, win win 😊
I always just get my peppers and onions and chop them and freeze them myself and I never had a problem with smell
Good morning!! You are literally blowing you look super healthy and happy ❤. Food is just expensive ugh
Thank you 😊
@@amymaryon suppose to say ‘glowing’. Silly auto correct
@claudiawaddel2429 i knew what you were saying lol
I only shop at Publix for the BOGO offers
Not hard to make reg tea hot n cool it for your drinks ❤❤❤
The bone equals flavor and the fat equals moisture.
As the other viewer says low and slow. My husband has taken up to 7-8 hours. Make sure alot of seasonings and enjoy.
As for the chicken feet you might have offended some who do eat those from other countries.
I myself will buy to make stock. Never know unless you try.
Try Save A Lot if you have one
I was just in Winn Dixie 2 days in a row . I spent $100 the first Fay and went back the next day and spent $50
I shop between 4 different stores. 3 grocery and Walmart. Every week I look at their sales, except Walmart. And see who has the best deals. I never buy fresh meats at Walmart. Just don't like it. Regular staples prices are good. The bowtie pasta is always 12 ounces. All brands seem to sell that size. I love their pasta. Have you tried chobiani creams. They have many flavors, their pumpkin spice has come out. Its pure ingredients no chemicals. They also have oat creamers and milk and non dairy creamers. Hopefully you can get it on a great sale.
If you use regular yellow onions, yes they will stimk up the fridge and freezer. If you can try Vidalia onions, they don't even cause you to tear up. Freezing them doesn't stink up the freezer. They are not as pungent compared to yellow onions. They can be more money, I try and stock up when on sale, usually $1.00 a pound. Oh they are a bigger onion. Also signing up for store rewards cards, is a great bonus. You will get emails on upcoming sales and bonus buys.
Some stores even give you reward points for gas. I love my store that gives gas points. Its another savings for us. Sometimes getting .30 cents of gas is a huge bonus. Sometimes I get more.
We all have our ways of doing things, I am always looking for new ideas on saving money, then freezing what I get to have till the next sale. Oh when it comes to sales at your stores. Not sure if its the same everywhere. Usually if you see a sale on items, chances are that item could go on sale in about 5 weeks. Something to watch at your local grocery stores. Knowing if its an item that goes on sale every 5 weeks, gives you a chance to stock up before its on sale again.
Plus some items are seasonal sale items. Holidays are coming, watch for those holiday favorites . Plus winter is baking season, those supplies will be on sale starting now. Most the grocery stores sales flyers are on sale. Remember if they have a rewards card for extra deals get it . Those savings are all good.
Found out the Sunflower mkt by us gets fresh produce dairy on mondays , other shelf items thursday. Have a Email or app also.
I thought it was my headphones 😀 But I can now hear out of both. Oddly enough, I do hear like an echo if I use both, but no echo if I use only one.
Just use english breakfast tea bags and let it cool. Use that as your tea flavour and the water volume?
Regular grocery stores should have the individual tea bags
I like to put a can of Dr. Pepper on the roast to make it tender.
With your pulled pork your going to slather it with mustard then add your seasoning rub place sitting in your smoker, smoking it for maybe an hour then wrap it in tinfoil letting it get to a temperature of 205 after that you’re going to pretty much pull it with and it will let you take the fat out don’t worry about the fat while you’re cooking it though you need thathopefully you’ll understand what I’m trying to say.
Yes pork shoulder is fatty once your tone smoking it the fat will render and then when done just go through it remove the fat that didn't render. It should be fine... Also you can take a pork tenderloin and ground that up for pork burger meat its hood mixed with regular hamburger... I always mix it and add worstershire Sauce to it when frying it gives it a more meaty taste. Do you ever consider buying meat from a farmer like a half cow or chicken...
if u ask if there a discount for bulk chicken( a case) they may give you a cheaper price per pound when you buy by the case you can also do that at costco too
Hello. I listen with headphones and can hear on both sides. Although it sounds a little echoing.
Agreed. I can now hear from both sides of my headphones, but it is very echo-y. All of the videos before now with the new audio, it has only been coming out of ONE side of the headphones.
Please don’t apologize for short cuts. We all do it out of necessity. I frequently get the frozen peppers, onions, etc.
Watch your grocery ads. Boston butts frequently go on sale from .99 lb to 1.49 lb. My husband and I will smoke 2 at a time. The we invite our family for bbq and then we vac seal leftovers in small packs to freeze. I will pull them out o freezer and do pork fried rice, pork nachos, or just bbq sandwiches. If you cook in rock pot cook it u til it falls apart n you can’t even take it out of pot in one piece. So through through he it’s cool enough to handle and pull out fat. A very cheap way to feed a large family. You can def do a better price. I put them in freezer when on sale like Labor Day,July 4 and Memorial Day. But they will go on sale through the winter as well.
Yes cook the pork with fat up Cook till it falls apart it’ll be very tasty .
It seems bizarre really aa ive noticed the deteriorating quality of chicken here in England over the last year or so.
I wouldn't worry too much about the sound, teething problems are to be expected with new equipment, you'll figure it out i am sure. Much love to you and yours Amy 🖤🐈⬛
Do you cook chicken and dumplings and stewed potatoes?
I have before but they didn't like it ..I'm going to try again
Since you went with your new microphone your sound quality is horrible
I do our pulled pork (I call them Boston butts) in the crock pot with liquid hickory smoked from Walmart. Yummy. I make hubby tear it apart after it cools off LOL
always buy the pork butt for pulled pork about 6-8hrs in the slow cooker. So good.
Boston butt roast, slow cooked for 8 hrs in crock pot. Nothing added, only meat. Shred cooked meat. Add sauce. Loin is too lean and will be tough. Simple remove cooked fat after cooked.
I have found Winn Dixie good for buy 1 get 1,also they reduced alot of there meat, chicken pork etc. Look for that extra yellow tag. In seafood dept.also.i go up and down every aisile, frozen dept. looking for reduced, discontinued items.of course I'm spending more than an hour in store.
Lipton has an unsweetened ice tea mix
Apparently they’ve discontinued it. And so has Nestea.
