EDIT: apparently the site is unreliable. that could very well be. I’ll research it before I make another video using it as a source. Personally I doubt the boycott is working regardless but I’ll be very happy if it actually is! Other point: I disagree that “creators are at fault for how hoyo treats us”. Please. Not only does creator spending not even come close to user spending, but USERS ARE THE ONES BLOWING UP THE CREATORS. If the users disagreed, they can stop watching creators. Sure, creators have influence. And definitly more than any individuals. But they only as much influence as people give them. The creators are mostly (not completely) a reflection of the community, not majority a cause.
@@lucastavares5103 That is because most players are fine with the way the game is more or less. The problem is that people who want change think they are the majority, but that too much of majority is weak willed, but that isn't the case, the reality is most of the players who spend don't have a problem with the game like you do. I want the game to change too, but not the way you want it to change. I would prefer the game was paywalled and everything else was earnable in game with no in game purchases.
Honestly saw it coming. People who didn't have Nahida yet wouldn't just pass on her for the small chance that the amount of money they deny Hoyo will actually make a difference.
i dont have nahida yet, hopefully i can pull her with the in game currency. I just dont wanna spend on characters I'm never gonna use to their maximum. But your absolutely right No one is skipping Nahida for some boycott...I quit the game for a year when sumeru came out cause I wanted to boycott then, but no one else boycotted with me so it was just a year of not playing. Which was fine, it gave them time to release some content. which was what i wanted.

One of the things I loved about your channel from the start was the focus on fun and balance, making recommendations for what people might like and what works for THEM, rather than just min-maxxing and ignoring everything that's not meta and assuming everyone likes the same things about the game. Happy to see that despite pressure, you're still committed to that as your channel's focus and are still enjoying it.
agreed, been playing less than a year and I was getting stressed trying to figure out which character is worth my primos.....then this channel made me realize I too, love playing and testing every character so I actually started a 2nd account just so I could pull for characters I can't on my main because I have ADHD and get bored using the same characters all the time lol. I discovered that a lot of characters creators say "you don't need them if you have ______" are technically right in a math/statistics sense, but for people like me, the feel of the character makes a huge difference. Sometimes I'm feeling spunky and I like dodging, other times I want to feel invincible with Zhongli's pillar. It's fun for me having those options
@@thomaskennedy5728 I see what you mean, but I also think just largest calculated dmg isn't the only way assess it either - an argument could be made for people who learn the mechanics of the enemy so well they almost take no dmg and time their dmg with impressive precision than someone unga-bunga with the strongest theory crafted team - to me that isn't casual. It could also be argued that the most OP teams require the least amt of skill so that's kinda casual lol. I have Neuvi and furina and they obliterate within seconds and I barely have to do anything. But I started a new account just to build characters I've overlooked and force myself to actually get better at combat - adding that handicap has been really fun for me because I actually have to pay attention to what the enemy is doing. I feel like that is less casual than my main account with busted characters. But I get what you mean overall - I don't like when people just say "play who you like" if you are looking specifically to know who does the most dmg, I like seeing the charts and number comparisons.
It implies a lot of people playing, dont watch stream dont watch livestream for patch. A lot of people just chill and playing casually dont care the drama.
I just always thought it was weird that rewards was the thing everyone freaked out about. Like END GAME CONTENT is what we actually want. Something to do other than spiral abyss! Co op combat content! But anyway yeah this video is based. The dramatics were over the top from the beginning. Y’all it’s ~just a game~
Honestly, I just want a proper artifact loadout. I'm tired of constantly swapping between TotM, Clam, and FloP on my Kokomi. End game content would be nice, but I'm also a college student who is way behind on my thesis.
I keep dreaming of a way to stock resin like in HSR. It'd be a real life-safer for peeps like me who can't always log into the game riiight before the resin will start to reach it's limit.
@@kuurumitokisakiI want this one the most. It basically gives a correct impression that Genshin is not a main game but a side game and basically motivates taking breaks, dissipating burnouts because people can finally take breaks and touch grass without compelled to spend daily resin. Just a resin reservoir and stacked loadouts is what I want to see. While there be no continuous gameplay loop in the endgame, having multiple teams to play with and the entertainment in yrying all sorts of teams refreshes the experience, but so badly needs various artifact presets to do so to remove the stress of constant swapping of artifacts that take up more time than the combat itself

Yeah. I hate the predatory monetization model, but the sad truth is that it is very successful because it feeds into some people's lizard brain. A boycott was never going to work because the whales aren't mad. They should be but they aren't.
The RUclips community is very out of touch with the rest of the player base. I feel really bad about you receiving terrible comments for just posting a guide. I’m not happy with some of the rewards, so I’m choosing to no longer purchase the welkin, but to get mad at others for covering a game they enjoy is crazy to me. Hoyoverse is just greedy, if you don’t like the game, there’s a lot you can do with your life
Hoyoverse' plan seem to be transfer some players to HSR by giving bad rewards on Genshin and exceedingly generous ones on HSR. Unfortunately, no matter the backlash, it seems to not make a dent
My feeling is the 4.0 to 4.3 archon quests were incredible. The new characters are so much better and more diverse than Sumeru. The quality of life changes have been subtle but great. The new area is incredible. Chenyu vale feels like a whole new nation. New mechanics, new creatures, new biomes, a freaking giant turtle, singing boat guides, it’s an amazing area. I’m not boycotting when we’re getting all that for free. A few extra 10 pulls last what 30 seconds? I’ll be playing this region for weeks and months to come. Because of that Hoyo gets my money.

Being the filthy casual I am, I've found your guides invaluable ever since I've started playing Genshin again.
The thing is, those who got really upset were the ones who really NEED those better rewards, who, obviously, aren’t the ones making major contribution to the revenue. On the other hand the Zhongli drama, which upset Chinese community as whole including whales because they spent heavily on this extremely popular character with high expectation,, was enough to make Hoyo fix the problem. Hoyo is always gonna test player’s tolerance level first, so they can give out as little as possible while keeping their revenue as high as possible…
Also from my pfp you can tell I’m albedo fan, albedo has yet to have a signature 5 star weapon after 3 years. Because this character doesn’t generate revenue, they don't even wanna rerun his banner. It’s all about business.
And that’s the thing. You can’t boycott something that you aren’t buying. Consumer boycotts are already pretty dumb but when the people boycotting are just straight up non-factors to Hoyo, there is less than zero reason to care.
You have to also remember Zhongli was when the game was fresh and new so Hoyo was probably way more invested in listening to keep good will with a growing game and fanbase. However, it has been 3 years now and they are super massive compared to then. Member the Dehya trashing from nearly every CC that went nowhere? They also have funneled a crap ton of the diehards into their hoyolab app and forums where posts there get more eyeballs than many CCs.
this is based i never watch livestreams or focus on upcoming rewards, i just play genshin because it’s fun for me i personally just don’t expect free stuff to be give to us - probably because i’m used to a lack of rewards but regardless, i love genshin for the characters and gameplay so 🤷🏻♂️
i returned to genshin (played 1.0 up to AR16) 2 months ago, and i didnt understand the drama when it came to highlight, but after seeing videos and going deeper i really understand, even if you dont compare it to HSR, it really lacks endgame content ( im AR52 and almost 30 star abyss), some life quality improvements and the artifact rng.
The core problem isn’t free stuff. The three wishes issue was just the sraw that broke the camels back, so to say. According to the comments I’ve heard/read most people are dissatisfied with the poor communication between the developers and the player base. Especially many ”veteran players” are fed up with the lack of end game and quality of life shortcomings. I’ve played for a few years, too, and also know how it feels like to try to enjoy Genshin when all the areas have been explored, story arcs finished and pretty much all the treasure found. : / I love the game and the characters, but I get the criticism, too. At a certain point the fun is replaced with repetition - and if you don’t grind and do the dailies etc. you don’t have the resources to enhance your account later on when new stuff is added. Plus, people are able to compare the way Genshin and Star Trail are treated. Star Trail - having more competition - is far more generous towards it’s player base, and has provided a lot of QoL improvements in a short amount of time. Yes, the developer teams are different, but it shouldn’t surprise anyone at Mihoyo that players feel like there is an imbalance.

Most people just wanna play the game. Nobody signed up boycott. If the rewards are bad and people are still playing, doesn’t mean the game itself is OK? I understand people are not happy with rewards but going further and call for boycott is stupid. Genshin developers made it very clear that it will not be a hardcore game and people still expecting for ‘end game’. Who is stupid here?
Yep!! There's a good portion of the playerbase who are just there for a fun time. Ofc for serious players the rewards matter more but I wouldn't even call that the biggest issue. A lot of these guys clearly have a toxic relationship with this gamd
So it’s fine when y’all want to play the game y’all’s way but when we ask for more content to test our characters we spent time/money on other than taking out hillichurl camps and collecting berries it makes us the stupid ones? Any game with combat should have solid content to test your characters which Genshin doesn’t, abyss is not a way to do that it’s just a way to promote the new characters. Most of y’all that say things like that don’t even try to stand in our pov. Imagine you’ve been playing since day1 completed everything there is, no more characters to build no more story quests etc. once you’ve done everything Genshin feels repetitive af just log in spend your resin do dailies and log out. Nothing fun about that and I love this game so telling us to quit is not the solution obviously
He's playing the game it's designed to be played, i.e., as a casual game. The dev has made it clear that their main target audience is the casual players. As a hardcore player, you need to make a decision for youself whether you want to play a game that you are bored of, or move on to other games that meet your standard and needs. The game companies need you to consume their product to live, but you can live without them. You have the freedom of moving on.
“End game” is not the same as “hardcore”. How can you not understand that people just yearn for something else to do other than the abyss? There’s not much to do after you explored everything (which can be really tiring) and did the quests. The events are short and u have to wait a long time for them. It doesn’t have anything to do with the “casualness” of the game, it’s just the game has nothing to offer for high AR players. Also a lot of players I know actually complain about lack of QoL and content much more than rewards. HSR is not a hardcore game yet it has much more “endgame” content than genshin.
The #1 draw of Genshin for me is exploring the open world. With the patch delivering a new area, I'm feeling very tended to, very satisfied. I'm currently getting what I want, and have been getting what I want out of the game. Literally thousands of hours for a grand total of zero dollars. This is the house for me, all the other noise with rewards and such is just furniture. I might hate how janky my couch is, but at the end of the day if I still like living in the house, I'm good. For those that don't like the house, there are a million other houses out there you could choose to live in. If you do like the house, then why are you spending energy stressing over chairs?
Exaxtly! Yes this. This is like what a non popular or newer creator said. He went by Zehmorah. His is the best and ONLY video I have watched that has spoken reason and uses his head. I want him to produce more content!

This just makes me feel sad and a little sick. FYI I'm on the side that is boycotting, but I have nothing against content creators who are pulling and letting people know what they think about the new characters and think that it is messed up that people are attacking content creators for it. Regardless though, I'm done with spending money on Genshin and am not logging on anymore this patch. I'm tired of Hoyoverse not listening to players, not addressing problems with their game, and treating their players like crap. We love the game our own way. I like building only the strongest characters, because I am completely F2P, and I have fun doing that. I have fun clearing the abyss, and killing the Wenut with my C0 Alhaitham double hydro Hyperbloom team. I love exploring new areas and opening every chest. Honkai Star Rail is different, but I get same fun from it. I play HSR as an F2P since Day 1 and clear MoC12 and PF4 with all stars. Those who "hated" the free fate/ticket disproportion did not take into account their value: in HSR, we need characters matching an element (and there are a lot to cover), harmony characters are in high demand, and signature light cones are almost a must have even for an F2P to be able to clear MoC without much pain. 20 pulls in HSR < 13 pulls in Genshin, IMHO. I am always thankful for any amount of free wishes.
They say honkai starrail gives better rewards so play that, but i will say that they are missing the whole fact. Honkai starrail is a turn based game which is seriuously boring and congested type of gameplay. Genshin on the other hand is free movement, freely battle etc that's what makes genshin more enjoying. It is not about the rewards it is about the pleasure of gameplay i will look for when selecting a game.
Gamers in general will never successfully boycott anything. I remember a funny screenshot of a Modern Warfare 2 boycott group on Steam. Day 1 everyone in it was playing MW2, lol. Gamers just don't have the self-restraint, especially not gacha players. Sorry you're suffering for it, your videos are really great.
To me the saddest thing about all this is that the drama, even as ineffective as it seems to have been, was focused on the “rewards” part, which is quite literally the shallowest of all the possible criticisms. I don’t give a damn about whether I get 3 wishes in the mail or 10, it likely won’t make a difference; with the new area and everything, I will likely get not far off from 100 wishes this version alone, completely free. (And yes, I will 100% the new area too and do the quests because I enjoy the exploration and lore and gameplay, and that brings in thousands of primogems as a side benefit.) The actual sad news recently was for example the “loadouts” that are _not_ loadouts, and which seem to demonstrate that MiHoYo never intends to introduce _actual_ loadouts (hence the muddying of the waters via using the word in the interface). Or the thing that is not news but keeps being sad, that there is little alternative endgame content (like Pure Fiction, or even more so Simulated Universe expansions in Star Rail). Yes, the “3 wishes for 3 years” thing was a PR failure of epic proportions if nothing else, but it drowns out the actual systematic issues that should be focused on - rather than the momentary “do I or do I not get 10 extra wishes” distraction.
@@pontoancoraOkay, I went back and looked at the stream for you. The phrasing was: *“to thank everyone for their support and company over the past year, we’re also going to use in-game mail to send you all three Intertwined Fates”* (these are the exact words in the official English subtitles). I suppose it was presented as 3 fates for the _last_ year rather than three years… except 3 fates is such an arbitrary and otherwise negligible number, one does not have to be a genius to make the connection to the 3-year history of the game as a reason for why it was chosen - either way, whether it is said to be for three years or one (which has no bearing on the actual value or lack thereof), it sounds like an insult rather than a gift. Saying _nothing_ - hell, _giving_ nothing - would have been better PR. So no, _not_ misinformation, at least not in any meaningful way. Not that I particularly care about it either way - as was the entire point of my original comment -, it is but a distraction from actual issues.
@@taederias1804 Yes, you didnt need to be a genius and check that this "arbitrary number" is the SAME NUMBER we got from first to FOURTH lantern rite. And we will get them again next year. I do agree with you on the resin cap increase, but they won't do it-- not until a significant chunk of the playerbase moves to another game via competition. This is because they want us to remember that we should not overcap our resin. It's either we don't care (which saves our sanity but we miss on the chance to progress our charas) or we care just enough that we will open the game to play it. Immersion is what they want so we will keep on playing the game and it does work for most people. Also, that's the reason they pushed forward with HoYolab and also why it has widgets that will track your resin so it wouldn't cap. They have already given in the form of a notification through HoYolab. From a marketing perspective, they have already solved it for us.

The main problem is that whales don't care about how stingy Hoyo is being while f2ps - who *do* care about that - cannot spend less than 0. It's effectively two different parts of the community that are at play and is the sole reason why most boycotts will end up failing like this one did
@@Sencifouy I agree. The thing is, whales themselves should consider carefully about the quality and the longevity of the game. The boycott wasn't only for the rewards, it was also about QoL changes and endgame content. Therefore, not only apparently whales don't care about rewards (understandably) but they also don't care what purpose they are putting their money towards: in the long run it's just a waste of strong characters and weapons (aka money) because there isn't any real purpose to use them for
You cannot cut the revenue when those who hate Genshin will just transfer to HSR... which is owned by the SAME company. They are just falling into Hoyoverse's exact schemes
"My number 1 is providing for my family. I'm paid by Hoyoverse." I appreciate you're upfront about it. I think a lot of content creators are paid by Hoyo, they get donations from fans, they can spend money on the game and write it off as a business expense, and as such they are whales who exist to hype up spending on the game by other whales. The whales overwhelmingly outspend everyone else who only buys an occasional welkin or BP so there will never ever be positive change in Genshin until another game comes out to eat Hoyo's lunch.
Hoyo paid CCs to talk about their game, like Necrit talking about Fontaine, but they're not paid with salary, meaning they need the money from youtube revenue, telling CCs to not upload is like telling them to not eat
the thing is. there is no real miHoyo boycott if the person that called for the boycott is still playing a miHoyo game. yeah I know they called for a genshin boycott but STILL PLAYING STAR RAIL SUPPORTS THE COMPANY THEY ARE TRYING TO BOYCOTT SO IT MEANS NOTHING.

OMG, you mean the part of the community that doesn't spend money on the game can't mount an effective boycott because they have ALREADY voted with their wallets? The unfortunate reality for the vocal part of the community who believe the game should be super f2p friendly is they don't have good levers to put pressure on Hoyo because they weren't spending money to begin with. They may be loud on the internet but they have not practical leverage. This has played out the same way with almost every video game boycott I've ever seen where the main drive was "we want more stuff for less money" because those people already were spending the bare minimum.

I actually prefer the old world of paywalls where you knew what you were getting and how much it was going to cost, and then everything else was earned in game, but sadly "f2p" model is more lucrative.
@@Lemon-x- That isn't why they are f2p. They are f2p because enough of the people who are brought into the game because it is f2p convert to paying customers. The value of f2p players that stay f2p is actually a lot lower than people thing it is. I've been on the inside of fremium services. The true value of a f2p player is their potential to become a paying customer.
Jello, I totally agree with you and I think that you can love the game and still want better for yourself and for others. I strongly object to people taking their frustration out on content creators who are there for the players and for their own love of the game. Keep doing what you’re doing, I love you videos and I know that you put so much love and effort into them!
I honestly never saw another gacha game in my whole life besides Genshin be boycotted tbh, and i’ve been playing gachas since 2016-ish. Must be because other gachas actually treat their players right so there was never a reason for them to be boycotted to begin with.
Boycotts in the gaming industry NEVER work. I can remember that as far back as Oblivion horse armor...or World of Warcraft celestial steed...or hell the most famous boycott meme, the Modern Warfare 2 steam group that were all playing it Day 1 about 15 years ago lol
The most interesting part was that these boycotts were to stop everything bad that exists in these games right now, Oblivion for micro transactions, WOW for p2w..... Genshin will probably follow the same path, each community has what it deserves.
Left Four Dead 2 boycott was a lolzy time. The first horsey mount in World of Warcraft made more money than the entirety of Starcraft 2. The writing was on the wall decades ago. If people like buying a $100 box with microtransactions that don't even offer currency over time like the gacha model does, then lol. They enjoy it, so good for them I guess?
Honest to god I couldn’t agree with you more about what you said about not feeling disrespected by them because you don’t see them as people because you see it as a company because really I don’t think I can be honest and say I feel anything about this I knew good and well they were a greedy company 3 years ago and after the first anniversary I put expectations for genshin really low do I wish things were different yeah but is stuff gonna change not likely
The boycott never made any sense because it is just protesting a lack of free rewards. The game is still at their peak of quality with Xianyun being an amazing character, the quests being great, the new area is genuinely the best exploration content they have ever made, and all the content in game is just getting better and better every patch. But because the developers don't give you a few more roles the game is "bad" lol.
The exploration and character aren't rewards They are content Mihoyo isn't doing a favour for us This is already pre-planned Mihoyo earns by running character That's their damn earning model You are acting like they are doing us a favour by releasing xianyun
Exactly! The only reasonable one and video I watched was by Zehmorah. Dude is euther new or just not popular. But he's got my sub. Want him to make more content.
@@bbajr you get hardly 50 wishes per patch even If you sell you sanity And avg pity is 76 for 5 star And 4 star have no pity Stop lying on internet for attention and white knighting
it's almost like the whole thing is overblown and the vast majority of people who actually play the game don't care about extra rewards on top of the already incredible constent updates the game recieves.
Incredible content?more fomo events more chests that you have opened a thousand times no endgame a map that is a reskin of an existing map no QoL the only thing that they actually focused on is the money makers aka the characters lol this is why the genshin devs dont try because suckers like you exist.😂😂😂
This is the anthem of our times: "Let me be free to be who I want to be and think how I want to think, to live my truth.....except if you don't think how I want you to think, then you are evil and don't deserve to exist " I don't think it occurs to people that not everyone is as mad at the game as they are. I LOVE BOTH exploration and battle and I do think they have neglected the battle side of things and that the rewards are stingy....but that doesn't mean I HAVE to stop playing the game. I enjoy the game how it is, whilst still wanting it to be more. If people want to boycott the game, that's fine but you can't impose that on everyone and treat them like the scum of the earth if they don't. I am currently bedridden with a damaged spine and some other issues, I have bigger things in life to to deal with and Genshin helps me get immersed in something other than pain - I'm not going to stop playing just because I want more battle modes and some more generosity from them
Looking forward to more interesting updates! True travellers care about the game's improvement and progression, those who lost hope and despair, are no longer here...
I guess, it is an indicator that improvements are never going to come. Thus, when WW drops - it would be a time for me to tell Genshin and all other Mihoyos products "GOODBYE, WONT MISS YA".
this is why you're my favourite genshin cc on this platform jello, you bring such genuine joy and excitement to genshin, which I can very much relate to. genshin is still my favourite game, and personally I do not care one bit about rewards. hoyoverse owe us nothing. what i do care about is better qol to make our playing experience better. but i love this game. i will never stop playing it until the servers shut down. would it be nice to see improvements? of course. but i am more than happy with this being a casual game for me to unwind with. like come on people. there are so many games out there. lets not hate on people who genuinely enjoy this wonderful game
@@Whutever42 yeah I saw the apex boycott too 🤣😂 these “boycotts” just don’t work on giant games. Bc most people don’t care (me include I don’t care about rewards . I’m playing to test out characters, exploring and lore)
epic seven korean and chinese players pulled it off..how?? well they actually went outside their hq with big trucks and loudspeakers and stayed there asking for changes for hours every day until they changed. Genshin players are too chicken t go do that
I had a feeling the discontent over Genshin was being exaggerated. The reason why, partly, was because the number of channels in my feed calling for a boycott was very small, but mostly because my most watched Genshin content creators (Jello, Shark, Vars, Zy0x, Zajef, and Sevy) were not calling for such drastic action to pressure Hoyoverse into changing the way they run Genshin. They all said what needed to be said over the minimal Lantern Rite rewards and moved on to regular game discussion.
I personally knew this wouldn't go much far, I mean it, still I can say I tried everything in my power for a glimmer of hope that they would listen and I don't regret any of that, it's not like it cost me anything. Have to say tho failing this hard was funny as hell. And as always I'm proud to be watching creators who spoke on the issue to any extent, you guys are awesome for trying.
Oh hey I helped with that. Ironically have been a mostly F2P player since I started, until this week. I had it planned for months for a one time only I was going to whale to C6 my main Nahida. No regrets. Couldn't care less about entitled people complaining about not enough free stuff in a free to play game. Especially when everyone including big content creators mocked the "3" wishes when it's 13, not even including the additional free primos on top of that. Not to forget "But this game gives more!". Okay? So? Go play that. Not the same games. Other people complaining about quality of life is at least a little more valid, but also over exaggerated as if they don't do quality of life updates already. Could Genshin be a bit more generous to their community? Sure. Could they be better at providing QOL updates more frequently? Absolutely. I'm not opposed to criticism and wanting improvement from developers. I will never complain about more rewards, improvements & overall communication and if the community can actually achieve that, good for them. However, while not perfect, I enjoy the game for what it is. At the end of the day, Genshin is a free game that while they make money through people paying for primos/characters, is very much playable and enjoyable without spending a cent if people choose not to. You can easily obtain over a dozen 5 star characters just by playing the game. Plenty for multiple teams of your favourite characters, strong enough for perfect abyss clears and any other content. Not to even mention all the more than capable 4 stars in the game. If however you want to collect every single character and C6 them with signature weapons, this is a complete luxury and you of course will need to pay up. I don't want to overly defend them but the reality is Genshin doesn't owe people anything. If you aren't going to spend money that's fine, the least they would want in return is for you to at least play the game to earn your free primos. I was low spender (Welkins/BP) before this week. In less than a year, not including all the standards, I got; Ayaka C2, Nahida, Kokomi, Kazuha, Zhongli, Venti, Yelan, Furina, Neuvillette, Raiden & Yoimiya. Even without Welkins I would have still had most of these. But I am also a newer player that has had less time and missed a lot. So had I started earlier would have had even more. This, by far, is more than enough variety in favourite & strong characters. As long as you invest in the game and prioritize well, you should at least get the people you really need and want. When I decided to spend money to C6 Nahida, this was a choice I made knowing it was a Luxury, because I how much I love her. I did not need to, she's more than good enough at C0. Point is, free to play is more than Viable. With a bit of effort and planning, you can get who you want. If you want literally everyone, or busted constellations and weapons, i'd say it is very reasonable to expect to pay money for something you do not need. TL;DR: Wanting a game and it's developers to improve is a good thing, but I think people way over exaggerate the situation. Personally, I have been enjoying the game for what it is and couldn't care less. You can disagree and complain and that is fine, doesn't mean everyone else will. Also it's not 3, stop saying 3, be for real.
Ok, I am quitting Genshin Impact, Not because to support the Boycott, but there is nothing much left for me to be excited about, I was waiting for the Nahida banner, Now that I got her and I already got bored of playing her since I don't have much team variations that I can choose. There are not much I can do as an F2P, the rewards are too low after finishing exploration of map. We only have limited number of characters and team comps to choose from. A whale telling they enjoy the game and laughing is not same as for the F2P farming primogems for months just to reach a pity to win a 50/50 chance to get a single copy. I don't need those 10 fates that doesn't give me anything useful.
As a f2p you can't get a lot characters quickly, that is true. But f2p players that have stuck with the game for years now have plenty of characters (if they don't go for many cons/weapons). This game is balanced around the long run, it assumes players will stick around for years. If you want fast progress towards many characters, then yes, this game is not for you. I hope you find the game you will enjoy =)
Amen, there is a middle point that you can still genuinely enjoy the game but at the same time be unsatisfied about the the rewards, unlike what Tectone is mostly talking, he didn't make enough emphasis on that part
Keep up the good work! Love the channel and the content. Don't let the haters get you down. I go hard on new games when I find one that I love and always gravitate to the best and most positive content creator for that game. In this space that is definitely you. Always looking forward to the next vid. Thanks man!
Thing is ... while people are screaming that companys are greedy ... they are just greedy themselfs. Yes a free 5 Star would be a really good marketing strategy but why do that when people pay more and more for content while a small group of non Payers or low Investors wich benefit from the payers and especially the whales that the game still exists and is F2P who do not even care. Free Rewards is just more money and pulls they can spend. If 1000 people of Millions that play make a fuss it can feel like the whole community is down to those things but in reality it stays a minority and without content creators supporting them and overstretching the theme like Press is doing in RL with Minoritys wich is why we all are very focused on them and talk about them this happens. They just get ignored 🤷♂
The boycott backfired heavily! They really lost the plot with attacking content creators who just moving on, ending up making genshin even more popular! Cloud is SO MUCH FUN !! People don't talk about how fun she is in co-op!!! Everyone in jumping!!! It's so funnyyyy!
Im personally someone who disagrees with a lot of your takes (before this drama). Im also not a fan of Envi, or Atsu etc. Having said that attacking these guys is stupid. There just people and they are allowed to have their opinions thier views and conduct thier channels the way they want to. I dont get what these hateful comments accomplish. If you dont like a CC or disagree with them dont watch simple. They have every right to believe what they want and to conduct thier channels the way they want. At the end were all fighting eachother and were all losing. Hoyoverse meanwhile is getting free advertising and still making bank so all this in fighting is accomplishing nothing.
You're right, it's only just a game. If you enjoy playing it, then keep playing it, if you don't enjoy playing it, then play something else, no need to bash on other people playing the game just cause they themselves don't enjoy the game, love & respect that you're being genuine towards your viewers, keep doing the good works!
To all the people boycotting and hating on social media. I wish to thank you for advertising and putting Genshin on everyones radar again. Other sources also show an increase in active players. So good job!
The most vocal individuals are the minority of the player base and they are mostly small spenders or F2P anyway. They have no sound. Big spenders and the majority of players just don't care. We don't play Genshin for the rewards. We play it for the open world experience, deep lore and refreshing playstyle (personally). Personally, I have a few C6 limited characters and multiple >C3. I don't even care about Lantern Rite rewards. You think even if they give 30 intertwined fates, it will allow me to C6 Nahida this rerun? Lol. TL;DR: Minority are the most vocal ones. Majority players and big spenders just don't care.
This just means that hoyoverse is just going to keep treating players this way and it’s probably not going to change anytime soon. But at the end of the day a lot of genshin cc’s play this game as their main source of income. So for me or anyone else to say that its their fault for not fully supporting and or sitting it out watching the drama unfold would be wrong and unjustified accusations. I do think that if more CC’s spoke on this topic we might have had a bigger impact. But it is what it is. It really sucks that this is the outcome of this whole situation. Genshin is still one of the best games out there and people are going to play and spend on the game regardless. As someone who truly believed that we might see some change because of this. It really sucks. But i still like the game, im not goint to spemd any more money on the game henceforth. And i harber no hatred to any Genshin CC’s or anyone who still supports the game financially. I enjoy watching your content and intend to keep doing so in the future. Keep up the great work.
I do like Jello Impact, however the most level headed person I heard the entire time was Zehmorah. Not sure if this sparked him into content because he doesnt have much but I hope he makes more.
its not that i dont want more rewards its just that i think its a silly to expect freebies in a game that is free and that is regularly getting new areas and new questlines for free. at the end if the day what im most excited about is new areas and story quest
well, it's not wrong to expect for more freebies, especially since other gacha games do it regularly. Giving freebies is the easiest way of pleasing players and buying their loyalty. People like to call hoyo a greedy company, but they have had no problem throwing out freebies, including free 5* characters in their other games. So why is genshin an exception? This makes Genshin feel like it's ran by a different company. I don't know.
@@VespaPiscis while i largely agree with your sentiment, no other gacha game comes close in scale to Genshin. Other gacha games tend to just be very samey or not that big so they're all in competition with each other, they're incentivised to give their players more and better incentives to keep playing. But people are gonna be playing Genshin regardless cuz its so huge map/story/lore/roster wise
Not silly, other gacha games does it as well, genshin is just that big that they don't need to give free things, the gameplay itself is already on a different levels compare to most gacha games
It’s great to hear someone else feels like HSR is less satisfying than Genshin. I love being able to actually control characters. I always feel it’s worth the money I spend. I think the funny thing is that even though the rewards are mid, the content in Chenyu Vale and Xianyun and Gaming are some of the best we’ve got. We have moving boat, lots of background NPCs moving and just living. Xianyun and Gaming take advantage of aspects of the game that have never been explored, and finally we get more characters with unique and fun movement rather than just walking everywhere. I care way more about the content than I do rewards and they’ve shown great improvement this patch.
Like I've said multiple times before on other videos. BOYCOTTS. DON'T. WORK. For a boycott to WORK, everyone and their moms have to participate in said boycott. Whether or not content creators keep making videos on Genshin, they're doing that because IT'S THEIR JOB. Announcing a boycott when it won't work regardless, IS A WASTE OF TIME. The producer of Genshin DOES NOT CARE.
in this life people will ALWAYS find something to be mad about. Keep enjoying what you do and spreading positivity Jello, I appreciate and enjoy your content alot 🤞
you do you, ignore the noise. Remember, only 1%-3% of the genshin community pays attention to x/youtube/reddit drama. and they're not the whales. Most players of genshin are teenaged girls, anime fans and gacha gamers. none of them follow the drama, meta gaming, they don't artifact farm, they build teams based on who they like not based on synergy, and they don't do the abyss. This was never going to materialize as anything. Asmongold had the same problem when he tried to get a movement together against people buying store mounts. he discovered this same fact. most of the community doesn't pay attention to this stuff. so this was going nowhere.
personally, I'm kinda all of them. i follow almost everything you said except I'm trying to avoid drama content for now. but yeah most people just want to play a video game and then go on with their life.

Sooo... did I get that right? People are upset that the game you can play entirely for free, like... completely and comfortably for free isn't giving out enough free stuff? The game that releases literally every month events that have variety and include story and lore? The game that releases a whole new region every year? A game that constantly delivers great voice acting, often really good writing, cutscenes that are getting better and better (the Chevreuse one? damn!) and absolutely amazing music? For free? And the issue with this update is, that a new character quest, two new characters and even another BIG new region with a whole lot of new content and even new music + the entire lantern rite and its rewards aren't enough? sure, if you really want to have every 5 star character, you have to pay. but if you don't you still have access to the entire game. a game that is not competitive and that isn't very hard. Nobody HAS to pay money. that's a choice ^^ and the amount of detail they put into this game isn't exactly my definition of disrespect. I mean, Dvorak? Hello??? They really did their homework with that one! Most people probably don't even know the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, who composed the opera Rusalka. which is also sometimes considered as the Czech Little Mermaid. It's an easter egg that probably not a lot of people appreciate, but they still included a character called Dvorak who is a composer and is looking for the mystical singing creature who saved one of his ancestors from drowning.... how cool is that? oh, and he is from Fontaine, which has a score that is mostly in the style of "classical music" Oh, and Coppelia and Coppelius? I never would've expected to see these two names in Genshin impact but at the same time, it makes so much fucking sense!
"I'm really sorry" "I really feel for the people" 😂😂😂 Jello is a comedic genius. Bro just enjoy your victory lap and secure the hoyo bag, people will get over it in time.
I just want to get this out of my chest. I think people have the wrong idea about "voting with your wallet". It's not about fighting the companies, twisting their arms to get what you want, or starting a movement. It's about leaving them for someone else who can provide you with what your need, in this case, a game that's for you. If you experience a poor service from a store, you will go shopping in another store instead. That's voting with your wallet. You don't go back to that store everyday to whine about how they ain't doing enough for you, or harass other customers for shopping there. That's mental illness. In the end, you are voting with YOUR wallet for YOURSELF, not for the future of company, the community or the industry. Don't listen to people who tell you to do it for those reasons. They likely want to use you to fulfill their own desire.
I think until genshin actually gets competition i.e. ( Wuthering Waves, Ark knights to a lesser extent) there really is nothing to make them to make any wide spread changes. Sidenote : Xianyun mobility is to op in openworld.
Well you just listed two games that will most likely not give any competition to genshin, arknights endfield is by all means the least interesting thing I could have expected as an arknights fan, and wuthering waves... Well I played their previous game. It was unironically one of the worst games I have played in a long time and just playing enough to get a single high tier char I wanted took me a month from starting and was unironically pain inducing to play it that much. WW isn't magically going to be a game with anywhere near the production value of any hoyo games Also it's just shitty managment in genshin, but things are visibly improving as they started adding so much more QoL stuff and make their game much more playable in general As for the rewards... 3 pulls? Couldn't really care less because that is 3 pulls in addition to every other reward coming with the update, they sure could have done something better but it's honestly not the end of the world. Just for the record, my maximum spending was buying a welkin once, otherwise entirely F2P, just ont pull on every banner... Even tho i pulled every version since fontaine dropped, fuk u hoyo for making all the good characters come in succession after teh drought that was sumeru, like, only dehya interested me there
Wuwa? It will be same 5 min gameplay with stamina system and its a gacha. After you explore everything and done everything you will eventually log out and login on genshin with same 5 min gameplay
@@moonshine7721 Idk I just think the horizontal is good. Even better with c1 on top of the 15% glider speed is pretty nice. And I think you can get pretty high for most overworld obstacles.
This is legitimately depressing… I know there are a lot of assholes out there, but a lot of us just want the game to reach its potential in every aspect. Especially for those whales like myself that didn’t purchase a single crystal this time around, this is a hard blow. The game we want will never exist.
It really is laughable lol Seriously though the hate is so disgusting and unnecessary. Going on the attack because of people doing their job over something so insignificant. Seriously, it's just a game. It's not that serious and although I really would like to see some rewards from them the creators who play the game are not at fault and they shouldn't be attacked for doing their job. Keep doing you Jello, i heard of your channel during one of Walrus' livestreams and have been here since 😊
Those sales are not real sales. Its just something pulled out of ass. Boycot is still happening. (also genshin could inflate numbers with bot accaunts -- yes chinese dont have a moral limit or laws to prevent that) Any genshin creator that supports mihoyo and making WOW fun this character wow non-sense should also be boycotted. And white knight like Jello also.
Sucks to see anyone getting hate like this. I go out of my way to watch your videos because you do the best job in considering all the factors that go into who I, as a fellow Genshin Impact enjoyer, should pull for. Thanks for being new player friendly! :)
Free (but most importantly not random) choice of Xingqiu on the last Lanterns event really helped my account because I only had barbara as hydro for so long, but to honest by having some 5star character as a gift we wont get anything, we more likely to lose some emotions like a joy of accomplishment, of good luck, of farming and saving primogems for banner. The result of playing the actual character is only half or less of enjoyment, other half is in this process of gathering resourses, planning and successfully executing your plan to obtain and excel your favorite hero and then flex with it :) So don't be spoiled child who yells to get the same reward as the other kid in a store, that is stupid and not good behavior. Also you cant ask for a new chapter of the book if you already read it, some stories just end. I understand that we are all in some form of addiction to this gameplay but maybe if you dont have anything left to accomplish in the game, don't blame the game, just move forward to something else in your life. That is hard to admit but it is true, some people milk this game too hard. Every jorney should have an end, and if the jorney was good, there shouldn't be a dissapoinmen in the fact that it is ending. I just cleared the Abyss first time, it was so cool, I had exactly 7:00 left in the last chamber xD.
Everyone is to blame here. The players, and the creators. Games not gonna change, if these numbers are accurate.
Sounds like users want a scapegoat to point fingers at, I'm sorry you all were chosen as easy marks by angry, misdirected blame.
Completely agree, the game is gonna stay the same for the entire decade it lasts because of stubborn children

Don't forget the skins too, that played a big part consider it's Ganyu and Shenhe
i dont have nahida yet, hopefully i can pull her with the in game currency. I just dont wanna spend on characters I'm never gonna use to their maximum. But your absolutely right No one is skipping Nahida for some boycott...I quit the game for a year when sumeru came out cause I wanted to boycott then, but no one else boycotted with me so it was just a year of not playing. Which was fine, it gave them time to release some content. which was what i wanted.
does the graph look at people pulling from saved primos or how many people actually spent during the banner?
I pulled nahida and xianyun started in 3.7
i personally was going to boycott genshin but seing this it just doesnt make any sense
The boycott during sumeru went nowhere, the dehya boycott went nowhere, this one nowhere too. its not new

It's fun for me having those options
whats even the point foccusing on min max? you can clear abyss easily with some half built meta teams or still kinda shitty built up jank
some people have fun building the strongest team possible, different strokes
You just explained casual or not so damage focused people.
Fr I didn't even know livestream even happened, thought it will be in February
I just always thought it was weird that rewards was the thing everyone freaked out about. Like END GAME CONTENT is what we actually want. Something to do other than spiral abyss! While there be no continuous gameplay loop in the endgame, having multiple teams to play with and the entertainment in yrying all sorts of teams refreshes the experience, but so badly needs various artifact presets to do so to remove the stress of constant swapping of artifacts that take up more time than the combat itself

You have to also remember Zhongli was when the game was fresh and new so Hoyo was probably way more invested in listening to keep good will with a growing game and fanbase. However, it has been 3 years now and they are super massive compared to then. Member the Dehya trashing from nearly every CC that went nowhere? i returned to genshin (played 1.0 up to AR16) 2 months ago, and i didnt understand the drama when it came to highlight, but after seeing videos and going deeper i really understand, even if you dont compare it to HSR, it really lacks endgame content ( im AR52 and almost 30 star abyss), some life quality improvements and the artifact rng.
I love the game and the characters, but I get the criticism, too.

(And yes, I will 100% the new area too and do the quests because I enjoy the exploration and lore and gameplay, and that brings in thousands of primogems as a side benefit.)
The actual sad news recently was for example the “loadouts” that are _not_ loadouts, and which seem to demonstrate that MiHoYo never intends to introduce _actual_ loadouts (hence the muddying of the waters via using the word in the interface).
100% I don't care about a few wishes just let me finally upgrade my other characters and give me another abyss mode where I can use them jeez.
There's no 3 wishes for 3 years. That's misinformation
@@pontoancoraOkay, I went back and looked at the stream for you. The phrasing was:
*“to thank everyone for their support and company over the past year, we’re also going to use in-game mail to send you all three Intertwined Fates”*
(these are the exact words in the official English subtitles).

I do agree with you on the resin cap increase, but they won't do it-- not until a significant chunk of the playerbase moves to another game via competition.

This has played out the same way with almost every video game boycott I've ever seen where the main drive was "we want more stuff for less money" because those people already were spending the bare minimum.
i never understood the term f2p friendly tbh... Like wtf are these people even doing for the company... They got a really awesome game that isn't locked behind a paywall at all. But could these people ever be satisfied they want more and more.
Yup, I'm not interested in the banners and I wasn't planning on even pulling as a f2p on the banner on the first place, let alone spend money on it so I had no say in the first place.
...tbh, I'm kinda neutral on the thing anyway but this whole thing had as much impact on Genshin as the reddit blackout did for reddit, nothing so far. rip.
I'm just here happy I got free stuff lol. XD
@@nolegitgames183 to be fair even a free to play player is somewhat valuable for a game like genshin. They contribute in a couple of ways. 1, they're a player that counts towards the total player count for sponsorships and deals like the KFC collab etc. 2, they play the game and recommend it to their friends/family/co-workers and get them hooked and they end up spending money. 3, they may be a creator that contributes to the community in other ways such as memes, art, videos which helps grow the brand and reach out to even more people that could end up playing and spending money.
Bottom line is that f2p players are always valuable to a gacha game, otherwise they wouldn't be free to play games lmao
@@nolegitgames183 You don't understand it because it doesn't make sense. Any decent game cost money to make and run. Someone has to pay for that so f2p is never actually true.
The problem is that companies promote it with the goal of getting you in the door and then getting you to spend, but because they promote it there are people out there who actually believe these games should be free.
That is where the cognitive dissonance comes from.
I rarely ever see boycotts against gacha games ever work so I can’t even be surprised
I honestly never saw another gacha game in my whole life besides Genshin be boycotted tbh, and i’ve been playing gachas since 2016-ish. Must be because other gachas actually treat their players right so there was never a reason for them to be boycotted to begin with.
I guess Dragalia Lost counts? Either way, the games involved in the drama are either dead or have lost their charm...
@@usubenidango Epic Seven and Summoners War had boycotts but nowhere near Genshin numbers

it only works if u stop sending money like an addict.
The most interesting part was that these boycotts were to stop everything bad that exists in these games right now, Oblivion for micro transactions, WOW for p2w..... Genshin will probably follow the same path, each community has what it deserves.

This is why hoyo doesn’t listen to the players 😭 they complain, but keep spending money.

The boycott never made any sense because it is just protesting a lack of free rewards. The game is still at their peak of quality with Xianyun being an amazing character, the quests being great, the new area is genuinely the best exploration content they have ever made, and all the content in game is just getting better and better every patch.
But because the developers don't give you a few more roles the game is "bad" lol.

it's almost like the whole thing is overblown and the vast majority of people who actually play the game don't care about extra rewards on top of the already incredible constent updates the game recieves.
Incredible content?more fomo events more chests that you have opened a thousand times no endgame a map that is a reskin of an existing map no QoL the only thing that they actually focused on is the money makers aka the characters lol this is why the genshin devs dont try because suckers like you exist.😂😂😂

I don't think it occurs to people that not everyone is as mad at the game as they are.
That will be a flop
this is why you're my favourite genshin cc on this platform jello, you bring such genuine joy and excitement to genshin, which I can very much relate to.

epic seven korean and chinese players pulled it off..how?? well they actually went outside their hq with big trucks and loudspeakers and stayed there asking for changes for hours every day until they changed.
I enjoy your content and I find your takes on the game professional, balanced, and authentic.
Keep it up. You can't please everybody.
This person going by Zehmorah made lots of sense speaking on value and pretty much everything else on his video.

Yes! This is similar to what this Zehmorah guy said. The only video I saw with reason.

Yeah, when nobody actually boycotts…it doesn’t work. Big bummer nothing will ever change.
The boycott was never going to impact anything, a majority of the playerbase (the silent part) doesn't care
Yes, i am loving Genshin impact and having lots of fun playing 4.4 update. Others can boycott all they want, meanwhile ill keep enjoying the game
its not that i dont want more rewards its just that i think its a silly to expect freebies in a game that is free and that is regularly getting new areas and new questlines for free. at the end if the day what im most excited about is new areas and story quest
well, it's not wrong to expect for more freebies, especially since other gacha games do it regularly.
It's a gacha game in the first place the expectance of freebies is higher than an average F2P game
Announcing a boycott when it won't work regardless, IS A WASTE OF TIME.

you do you, ignore the noise. Remember, only 1%-3% of the genshin community pays attention to x/youtube/reddit drama. and they're not the whales. Sooo... did I get that right?
Nobody HAS to pay money. that's a choice ^^
and the amount of detail they put into this game isn't exactly my definition of disrespect.
I mean, Dvorak? Hello??? They really did their homework with that one!
Most people probably don't even know the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák, who composed the opera Rusalka. which is also sometimes considered as the Czech Little Mermaid. It's an easter egg that probably not a lot of people appreciate, but they still included a character called Dvorak who is a composer and is looking for the mystical singing creature who saved one of his ancestors from drowning.... how cool is that? oh, and he is from Fontaine, which has a score that is mostly in the style of "classical music"
Oh, and Coppelia and Coppelius? I never would've expected to see these two names in Genshin impact but at the same time, it makes so much fucking sense!

WW isn't magically going to be a game with anywhere near the production value of any hoyo games
Also it's just shitty managment in genshin, but things are visibly improving as they started adding so much more QoL stuff and make their game much more playable in general
As for the rewards... 3 pulls? Couldn't really care less because that is 3 pulls in addition to every other reward coming with the update, they sure could have done something better but it's honestly not the end of the world. This whole drama actually reminded me this game existed, 4th week and having a blast so far, great vids btw
