  • This video is a full clockwise tour of Crater Lake National Park from the north entrance all the way around and back out. We'll stop at the major viewpoints and show some pictures and include some facts throughout the video. I've been through this park many times in a car, twice on a bicycle and a few times on my Kawasaki KLR650 motorcycle. Motorcycle is by far my favorite way to circumnavigate the lake. This video is from October 5, 2019. There had been a snow storm earlier in the week and there was still 6" of snow in places around the park. It made for a surreal and wonderful experience on the bikes. My riding buddy was on his 2017 Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L

Thanks for the video. Always wanted to go there, and after your video, it is on the official list. By the way, what camera are you running?

So this was shot on a GoPro Hero Session5 with the digital stabilization on and running in 1920x1080 60p. I upscaled the video in my editing software to 1440p to get RUclips to apply the better vp09 codec when they process the video (makes it look a LOT better on RUclips, but requires a pretty good internet connection to stream in 1080p and 1440p.) I love the session 5 because of its size and the digital stabilization is quite good, but they discontinued it I think mainly because of battery life. A lot of people had issue with battery life. I found that by getting the camera set up mount wise and settings, and then turning off all the wifi, and bluetooth, and gps stuff (all battery drains) in the camera, the battery life is actually quite good for the size. I'll be moving to a Hero8 soon to be able to shoot the 4k in 60p with the REALLY good new stabilization they have in those cameras, but I'll miss the tiny size of the session.
