WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT Monster HYPE TRAIN Some general tips for starting: -The "brief respite" is always just before the boss comes in (or goes "relentless" if they are already flying outside) -Ascend/descend mechanics can make a unit go into a floor that's already at max capacity, "overstacking" it! There's no penalty to this so far, but the maximum limit, no matter the capacity they use, is a total of 7 units. (could be 7 imps at 1 cap each, or 7 big awokens demons whatever at 3 capacity each!) -"Magic power" affects only damage or healing (or both, like glimmer!). For spells that add other kind of effects with a name (rage, armor, regen, spikes) you can improve them with doublestack! The ones that just "enhance" your units with extra damage and/or health can't be improved on the numbers department (can reduce cost and such other benefits, but not make the buff more powerful).
@@Jonjon13Jonjon13 One big tip I'd like to throw in. You don't have to start a combat by putting units on the bottom. Sometimes it pays to hold out, like when you have your Consume-buff potion, so you can put a stronger front on your upper floors, or if you end up wanting a specific combination of units on a floor. :3

@@rodlopes4327 Yeah, people underestimate imps at first, I was guilty of it too. They only take up 1 space, while most units take 2 or 3, and often you might end up with an extra flex space if you're placing units to deal with a situation immediately and don't have the cards to fill to max capacity. An imp is super useful to have in front of other units just because it's going to take up an attack that otherwise would hit your minions, and even if it lives that's some free bonus damage on anything it hits until it dies. If you have a unit worth protecting, putting an imp between the enemies and that unit is extremely useful, on top of the fact that imps have very useful abilities that are often better than a 0-cost spell would be, and can enable some amazing combos. Like, you know what will make any X-cost card insane? Playing it after the 0-cost imp that gives you 5 full energy.

Thanks for showing it off in NL tries, I never would have found it otherwise and I can't wait until the full version goes on sale. (And yeah, I wishlisted it so I don't forget). Wanted to mention the "capacity" stat because different duders take up different amounts of space, and you can increase that stat as well to be able to fit more peeps per floor! As somebody else said, you can see the pips at the top of the unit cards. Anyway, keep it up, I'm excited for this one.

Hey NL, quick tip from what I've noticed so far: On each floor of your train you have an allotment of slots (Looks like 5 pips per floor(and it is shown in the top left of each tier of your train)) and each of your big guys take up 2 pips each (You can see it at the top of their cards) and the imps themselves only take up 1 pip of space, so you may be able to have 2 big guys and an imp on each floor making the imps much more viable as a support slot! Nevermind it sounds like he's noticed the mechanic Absolutely pogged out of my mind for the series as well!
Got into your content back in roughly 2013 with Issac, enjoyed the odd video of other series here and there and eventually fell off the channel for one reason or another. Around December of last year i felt the itch for some nostalgia of Issac and suddenly this channel is POGGED. Dark souls randomizer, NL tries, golden goblet and true listener of the community. So glad i am here again for this stage of your youtube and will not be leaving again. Keep up the hardest work i have seen ever come out of a content creator. :)

So hype! I am so happy to see more of this. Was hoping you would play more since the last episode. Also you should save the units to play after you used the changeling +30/+30. It really buffs your units and is worth waiting to draw. Just cycle the deck and get the +30/+30 multistrikes out there.
One big thing to note, during the train phases you don't have to do them in the order they are on the tracks. If you get the opportunity to select a unit and the upgrade your units building, you can pick the unit first then go back and upgrade it.
Brother thank you for starting a series on this, love this gameplay. Going a little hard on the "Best X of 2020" lately though; not complaining, pogs, etc. but they lose their effect a bit like that.
I'm highly pogged for this content. Game looks great and NL always keeps it entertaining. To be fair he's actually picked up the game mechanics pretty quickly and only made a handful of misplays, a rarity when it's your second run. The only advice I can give other than stop and think is to just look at the bosses effects when they appear before saying go, or you can get yeeted like you did with that birdo boss.
So glad you're making a series on this. This game is awesome. NL you should definitely keep more units in your deck, especially if you're gonna use Channelsong.
Hi! I played the demo for four hours and I have some feedback/guidance. Duplicating - Just saying, 6 spikes that cost zero and stay in your hand means 60 at-will damage to the front enemy whenever you want. Capacity Upgrade - Getting the first train capacity upgrade is disproportionately powerful; most units cost 2, so going from 5 to 6 capacity gives you 3 units per floor instead of 2, or lets you double-stack the capacity tanky minions. Not saying you were wrong for going energy, just something to keep in mind. Champion - Giving the Hell Prince at least one Brawler upgrade for the Multi-attack is huge, *especially* if he has a Slay effect. Against crowds of weak enemies, he can get two Slay triggers every turn. I had one with +10 attack power on Slay, and multi-attack. At the final boss, he got up to 103 damage x 2 attacks by the time Seraph came to fight with Relentless. With a tanky unit in front of him, he just melted the boss. 54:00 ish - The Champion costs 0, so you could have played Vent first, killed all the explosive enemies, and saved your Champion the retaliation damage. I had comments about Vent being free damage and double-stacked rage being really strong, but you figured those out later on your own.

Hey NL! Loving this series so far, this game’s a ton of fun to watch. My only piece of advice would be to try out the Imps: they’re pretty crap on their own, but they’re kinda like Murlocs in Hearthstone or Slivers in MtG - weak on their own, but with a TON of cool synergies!
Awesome. Cant wait for the series. Picked up the demo right after I saw your first video and already have a couple hours into it. I dont really like the graphic style, but the gameplay had been super fun. Interesting to see some balance changes between the demo and your version since my biggest gripe was that the artifacts seemed wildly unbalanced. Some almost immediately won you the game and some were super inconsequential.

This is a great game, I'm excited to see more of it!! Also you should have thought about your channelsongs before putting all of your units on the board, but other than that you really played well! This will be a good one
I really like that they give you a preview of the final boss of the run. There's so many times in slay the spire where you build a sick deck but the final boss is the counter to it.
I love how NL really listened to his community and got a whole hour of the same content the very next day released to us :)

Awesome. Cant wait for the series. Picked up the demo right after I saw your first video and already have a couple hours into it. I dont really like the graphic style, but the gameplay had been super fun. Interesting to see some balance changes between the demo and your version since my biggest gripe was that the artifacts seemed wildly unbalanced. Some almost immediately won you the game and some were super inconsequential.

After the northernlion tries I played the demo for 7 hours. This game is dope and I’m hyped for this series.
I really like that they give you a preview of the final boss of the run. There's so many times in slay the spire where you build a sick deck but the final boss is the counter to it.
