      I've personally had platoons that looked better on TD-10. This is disgusting. What tf are they focusing on these days at boot camp? How to be PC? Is surely isn't being spent on the parade deck. I wonder if these kids ever heard "Set up the mini-grinder!!!"

    i remember doing this in jungles with shined boots. drill is fundamental. its what makes the marine corps the marines. muscle memory. action without thought. reaction to the action. action from the command. the command made action. let it never die.

    • @sfmc98
      @sfmc98 3 года назад

      Crazy that Marines don't know how to shine a boot anymore.

    • @40Kens
      @40Kens 3 года назад +2

      @@sfmc98 I always thought shining boots was counter productive and a waist of time - Shine them to protect the Leather and that is it. Not for show and screaming and yelling for 10 minutes - cause the DI could not see his reflection!
      I was in the USAF 1985-89, and my basic training - spent so much work shining boots, have the TI inspect them, and go outside and march, run in mud..
      The latest Marine Boots is practical and real. Function and not for show.

    • @sfmc98
      @sfmc98 3 года назад

      @@40Kens Then you've missed the point! Shining boots is about attention to detail, taking care of your gear and exuding command presence when wearing them.
      So many things in the Marine Corps are not "functional" or "practical." If that were the standard, we'd get rid of most of boot camp altogether because do you know how many hours are spent every single day learning minute complexities of drill? Plus, three drill competitions? How many hours are spent on making racks or ensuring your towel placement is just right? Even the marksmanship that we spend weeks teaching is completely useless in combat.
      But these are what makes Marines...Marines and there's no desire for most Marines anyway to change that.

    • @40Kens
      @40Kens 3 года назад +1

      @@sfmc98 Yes, pay attention to detail. But not waste time on shiny boots, only to be ruined within minutes. Pay attention to the details of Drills, adjusting the sights of your rifle and honed your shooting skills, PT. At no time Marines should be wasting time on your bed, underwear, socks, towels, and how precisely they are folded. Or waste time scrubbing bathrooms with toothbrushes. I want all idiotic nonsense removed. Marines should not be Holiday Inn Attendants and have a babysitter nitpick on your pair of socks. You get where I am coming from? Train on what is real - not yell and scream and be interrogated on bed sheets and hospital corners and that perfect angle. Spend 99 percent training outside and survival skills on a Camping expedition in that woods (pay attention to detail here!) and 1 percent on Barracks Duties and your Bed and Locker. When inside of that Barrack, time to relax and clean your M16. Play Cards. Who cares about my bath towel? Why should anybody? Yes, makes sure it is clean and neatly stored and hanged. That is all.

And makes good Marines get out.. take away the fuck fuck games... and the Marine Corps would be 10 times what it is now.. cause when some douchebag on a power trip got his ass whooped by real Marines not not playing bullshit games... you wouldnt be able to cry hazing 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ but nowadays theyll just charge you . Fail. Cadence calling was horrible. Alignment was atrocious. They were not in sync. This looks more like initial drill vs final.
    My honest assessment. Drill has gone downhill since the new brown boots came out in the 2000s. The old school black boots made a thunderous boom when a platoon of this size marched in sync. The brown boots don't make the same sound taking all the glory out of drill. The sound black boots made showed recruits how sweet it is when everyone is on the same page. You learn what being in sync sounds like versus when some recruits are off. Especially with manual of arms(rifle movements).
    It isn't easy. Most of it depends on how much focus the DI puts into drill. Some value it more than others.
