I used to work at a resort that featured John for performances. Great guy with amazing routines that still have me perplexed to this day!

One thing about the first phase with one selection. It makes no sense to pretend that you got their card if the card is signed, because the moment you turn over "their card", you would see it is not signed and you would know it could not be their card, thus if you keep pretending that you actually still think you got their card, its not believable because everyone knows the card is signed. So perhaps do the first phase without the card being signed and sign it later, or just admit you messed up as soon as you turn over the card and see it is not signed, this makes much more sense in my opinion. The same thing applies to the later cards you take, there is no reason to take the card out that they stabbed the deck with the other card with and ask if their card is the ten of hearts, because again, their card is signed and the ten of hearts is not signed so it can not be their card. And the same for the second card that is stabbed, the ten of diamonds. You even mention it during the second phase with 2 more cards, when they touch a card and you turn it over, you say that it clearly is not their card because it would have their signature on it. This same logic would have applied to the first card also.

Thank you for your comment! I agree, since then I have changed the way I present it much more in line with what you have recommended! I usually find it difficult to perform routines such as these to no one, which is why sometimes some of the patter is off since I have nothing to bounce off of! Again, thank you for commenting and watching!!

@@sebastiantoca9208 Its also that when you get new effects as someone who is proficient with the technical aspect like the sleights used, you can fairly quickly do them, but creating a solid presentation for the tricks is often harder. At least it is for me. I create tricks because that is something I enjoy but I dont have the inspiration to create a good solid patter and presentation to them unless they are special and I really want to incorporate them to my repertoire.
Especially when reviewing tricks you go through many tricks and often times the reviewing of the trick and demo of it comes before you have had the time to put in hours into constructing and remembering the patter. And like you said, performing for a camera is hard since there is no audience interraction which makes tricks feel less alive than when done for an audience.

he does address this problem at the end of the book and briefly provides his solution. in my opinion, not having the first few cards signed defeats the purpose of the callbacks later on as the spectators may remember their own selected cards, the other spectators/non-participants won't remember the call backed cards were chosen without the marked signatures.
