Awesome overview! Another suggestion for the fogging-glasses issue would be to use an anti-fogging liquid on your glasses before putting a suit on (something that's usually used in gas masks)
I'm not really interested in making a fursuit or anything like that, but this is still really cool! Props to everyone who actually makes stuff like this.
Lovely! I might consider buying one of these or the dragon/charizard blank in the future. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see what other species you come out with.
The hinge style will work for just about any mask you can think of. The only issue with something like the Hollow mask is that it will be harder to disguise the hinge and leave it unhindered enough to freely swivel.
Any kind of teeth really, though it is suggested you use a canine/wolf taxidermy jawset for realism and use something lightweight. You can use jawsets made by other costume makers and get most all of them to fit but it's not a guarantee, which is why I'll be sculpting my own version soon.
I can't seem to access your website. I'm not sure if you're having troubles, but if you are that's okay. Take your time if you need to get it back up... If you plan to.
I like how thorough you were with this video, it was very professional and answered the questions that many new suiters have trouble with. you did a amazing job and your stuff is really cute. :)
Oh absolutely! It's a popular resource on RUclips that's very outdated- that seriously needs to be fixed. It's been on my to-do list for awhile but I simply haven't been able to find any time yet. I will be making a new pair of canine feet for myself this December and could likely tackle it then.
StiltbeastStudios I don't sell them made to order anymore with very few exceptions, but if I ever have any pre-made and ready to go then they will be posted to the store. I would like to update the sculpt and replace it with a newer model as well.
Foxes tend to have very narrow muzzles so if you don't mind steering away a little from accuracy on that account, then I don't see why you couldn't get it to work! The markings and ears will help sell the idea of the species.
Acrylic paint is recommended. You could also try something with an enamel base, like model paints from a hobby shop. You might need to prime the surface for painting to help prevent chipping or cracking depending on the paint or techniques you're using. You can spray/airbrush or paint it on with a brush. Biggest tip I can offer is thin your paints & apply in multiple layers when doing it by hand, it will minimize visual brushstrokes/cracking. Seal with any gloss, I like Krylon Crystal Clear.
Really nice and detailed overview of the blank. 'Cause of the space for glasses I'll have to consider getting one in the future. That's definitely something I've been wanting in a suit but I haven't been able to do it myself yet (or at least I haven't been able to fit glasses on comfortably) and some blanks/suitmakers don't offer space for them.
I cannot predict how the mask will fit you best and in turn your preference on how much tension there is. I can include elastic but you may need to tweak it further
sweet this is perfect, im a beginner fury cos player and Ive always wanted to make my own stuff but currently i dont really have the funds or room for making my own resin masks and im glad there is someone out there who sells them, and they are very reasonable prices! you are very awesome!
I am just beginning to dive into the molding and casting world, so props and weapons are definitely something I would like to invest some time in learning for the future! I'm making an LED gauntlet right now for an Ezreal cosplay project, and I'd love to learn armormaking techniques too. Resin is a great choice for propmaking since it is light and durable. If you've ever heard of Volpin Props, he does all his work with the materials I'm using now. We'll see what I can come up with down the road!
Indeed! I already have Charizard and I definitely plan to make one for Lugia so I can properly restore that costume. Many more species will be created in the future
im speachless. this is the mask i dreamed of when i was really little!! funny thing is, is that you are exacly what i wanted to be as a kid! i wore a collar, i wanted really short hair, i designed my own aliens and Masks!!! man, kind of creepy. you really rock Canine!!!!!
Yes indeed, feline is scheduled to be next and I'd like to re-make the dragon one sometime afterwards (or at least do a few different kinds of dragons) from their I think I will most likely run polls to determine what kind of masks people are most interested in.
I don't currently offer them. My mask supports full size wolf taxidermy jawsets, and is also likely compatible with most other fursuit maker's jawsets that they might offer with their own resin masks.
Absolutely, feline molds are definitely on my list :) I am not sure when I shall have the time to to them however but they are scheduled to be the next species to make
Very cool! two questions though. One: Will you be creating a model that can incorporate the 'following eye' effect? Or can this model be customized to do so? Two:If I chose to get the mask blank Hinge installed, will you be installing the elastic for the jaw and to hold the mask on the head? Or will that cost extra?
Thank you! Indeed another solution; I've attempted to use some of that with swim goggles but I've never gotten good results. Maybe I should experiment with different brands?
You pretty much sold me when you mentioned the glasses part, they was something I was worrying about when it comes to making/buying a mask. If I decide to go the resin route ill definitely be ordering one of these. :D
Thank you for this video! I have been trying to figure out how to make the moving jaw mechanism - and this is the easiest solution i have seen! You are saving me hours of time and mess ups :D
Canu u add teeth to it like is it able to have teeth? Bc i want mine to have teeth if I get one, of course I will add it in myself but I just wanted to know if u could have teeth?
I've never been into this sort of thing, nor do I think I still am, but I do have to say: this is incredible! You were very good at explaining what needed to be said, and you made ME want to buy one...even though I wouldn't have a clue what to do with it. :b I just think this is seriously awesome, great job.
Hello Riley! I'm thinking about getting a cut and hinged mask for my fursona project, I was wondering if you have any tips on foam structure over the resin for a husky-wolf hybrid? And also if you were able to do a more detailed tutorial on how to fur these masks as this will be by first attempt
Awesome base, i have a question. If you buy an uncut base how do you cut it if you dont have all the fancy tools XD, is there any other/ easier way to cut them?
This mask is beautiful, and I can't wait to purchase one for one of my future cosplays. I was wonder though, whether you plan on making any fitting jaw sets? I've looked at other blanks, and many of them have the separate sets that fit their models perfectly.
i quite like your masks, especially the snappiness of the jaw. however, i dont plan on using tearducts for vision. i plan on using my own eyes with a white screen (to give it a pupil-less look, and for better vision.) d o you have any canine molds that will better support that platform?
The mask could be used in a quadsuit, the biggest problem is that I fear for most designs this head is simply much too small in proportion to the rest of the quadsuit body. You can bulk up the mask with foam padding to make it larger but to do that properly, it may be quite time consuming and difficult to get it to look right.
Your costumes just keep getting better! I think it would be very cool if you tried to make a quadsuit of poochyena or maybe wolf Link or just a regular wolf! I tried making a head of a dog for the first time, I failed XD! I hope to see more costumes, tutorials, and just videos soon! Keep up the good work Riley! I love your cute dog ears in this too! And you're very pretty! Anyways, I just keep talking on and on at 2:00 in the morning! XDXDXD Good Luck!
Hey Riley! I have a quick question. C: I see that you have elastic inside as the "spring", and I was curious as to what sort of adhesive you use to attach it? Thanks!
Sure, you can do big manga eyes on something like this! You may need to modify the brow shape to accommodate them better. Most people cut toony eyes out of plastic bowls to give them stability/shape and make them shiny.
Nice tip on the glasses. Another method you can use, I forget what it's called, but they make an anti-fogging spray coating for glass. It's often used by divers to keep their masks from fogging up when diving in deep cold water, Might be a tad expensive, but it supposedly works quite well and lasts for a long time. For those experienced suiters who will be at events where they are wearing a mask for extended periods, it's probably worth the investment. Good luck with your business. Nice mask btw
I was wondering if it was possible to somehow alter the mask so it could work with a quadsuit, my friend wants me to make a wolf quadsuit for her boyfriend (or me not sure) so we could possibly do a Twilight cosplay for the next WildCat ComicCon, not sure how he's going to like being stuck in a quadsuit but I guess it shows as part of a relationship. :-/ ???
would more foam or harder foam make the mouth easyer to open? less needing to push down with actual chin having the foam do more work? just asking cause i dont know i do know that big/long mouths are harder to work/open ^3^
At the moment I am not offering complete heads with fur because I simply do not have the time to do them. I might offer pre-made heads for auction but that would be very rare. I'd be interested in doing commissions sometime down the road but I don't have a price guide worked out for custom work yet, though I appreciate your interest!
How are the feline masks coming? I've been looking forward to them for a while. I will be heading to Metrocon in Tampa and I was rather looking forward to having a feline mask to work on before then. =]
This is how I started to become a furry. my sister was looking at your channel years ago, and I couldn't stop watching because I didn't know people liked stuff like me. I dug deeper and found out there was a whole fuckin fandom!! THANK YOU
A real taxidermy wolf jawset fits very well in the mask and Monoyasha's jawsets should be rather close to this size- based on the measurements posted on her website, you may need to cut back a little of the gums but it should work perfectly fine!
Do you make teeth/fangs for the masks? I'm just wondering, because, for some reason, your 'Store' section will not display. The actual site appears, but the 'Store' won't come up.
Hey, I'm new to casting, and creating, got a couple mothermolds already, any tips for hinging? So far that's my biggest stumbling block that i just seem to flop with
I would adore a tutorial on how she furs these.
Roddy The Mime she probably sews everything then glues it on but I’m probably wrong
You make all of this stuff yourself? I've never been into the whole "fur" scene at all, but that's pretty impressive
Yes, that I do! I try to do a variety of things. Glad you're enjoying my work and I really appreciate all the comments you've been giving, thank you!
CanineHybrid
Totally, man! I just subscribed as well, hoping to see more creatures! Nice to hear from you :D
INeverWanted2010 Even more appreciated!
CanineHybrid Neato! Stoked to see updates whenever they come.
CanineHybrid how do you add the fur on the resin head base?
made to be glasses friendly??
thank you!!
Love the glasses addition, i dont usually see that in blanks/foam bases.
Your web is currently closed? Why? Is there another way I can contact and get a mask? The Cut and Hinged please?
Do you also do like bird masks? Or do you only do dragons and dogs? ( sorry if that sounds rude)
I plan to do birds in the future, along with felines and a bunch more species. One step at a time! ;)
I am wanting to create a Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes) Costume so I can't wait for a mask with a muzzle that is closer to the face. :D
CanineHybrid
CanineHybrid Hope you get this! But your website doesnt work for me...Did you change websites or do you no longer have the business??
Yes respond I need to know I really would like to make my fursona techno wolf
Baaats?
The fact that you made them big enough to wear glasses with them is absolutely AMAZING! THANK YOU!

Thank you for the compliments!
The elastic is simply hot-glued in place and stays rather well.
Oh absolutely! It's a popular resource on RUclips that's very outdated- that seriously needs to be fixed. It's been on my to-do list for awhile but I simply haven't been able to find any time yet. I will be making a new pair of canine feet for myself this December and could likely tackle it then.
Do you also sell realistic eyes, possibly that glow as well? Oh and another thing.. Do you sell custom requested full suits?
Looking at your store now, it looks like you dont sell these anymore? I was hoping to order one.
StiltbeastStudios I don't sell them made to order anymore with very few exceptions, but if I ever have any pre-made and ready to go then they will be posted to the store. I would like to update the sculpt and replace it with a newer model as well.
I appreciate you letting me know.

You can cut them by hand with an excto but it's very time consuming. However it's also a great way to be very precise.

I cannot predict how the mask will fit you best and in turn your preference on how much tension there is. I can include elastic but you may need to tweak it further
Absolutely! They'll just need to be padded up in the inside to make it small enough to fit properly
Why thank you! Molding and casting is a lot of fun, you can always try your hand at learning it ;)
sweet this is perfect, im a beginner fury cos player and Ive always wanted to make my own stuff but currently i dont really have the funds or room for making my own resin masks and im glad there is someone out there who sells them, and they are very reasonable prices! you are very awesome!
Eager to see how they look. Doing different ones for wild/domesticated?
you move the flap with the jaw?
cool!
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching and for your interest in my work
Iam crying right now youve made room for glasses omg I am so going to be buying from you in the future
Lovely resin base! I will surely purchase one of these if I ever have the funds to do my realistic fursona head :)
Wow! It's really amazing you thought to add that little glasses bit! :0
I am just beginning to dive into the molding and casting world, so props and weapons are definitely something I would like to invest some time in learning for the future! There are a lot of mask makers out there now so I'm glad to hear that I can stand out among them in some way. Thanks for the complements!
Oh wow. I watched you for a while and I have never heard your voice until now, I love it!
I can include/attach elastic for the jaw no problem if it is requested.

Yes and how much will it be if i ask u to make k-9 teeth in the front? 😐
I don't currently offer them. My mask supports full size wolf taxidermy jawsets, and is also likely compatible with most other fursuit maker's jawsets that they might offer with their own resin masks.
My gosh you are one of the most awesome people I have ever seen!
Absolutely, feline molds are definitely on my list :) I am not sure when I shall have the time to to them however but they are scheduled to be the next species to make

I was watching this and wondering about glasses... And then you answered it. :D The blanks look amazing!
Wow, this is one of the best resin blanks i've seen, nice jaw movement! But how did you attach the elastic that keeps the jaw shut?
I just have to thank you for even taking your time to incorporate the use of glasses
Omg you seem like lots of fun! The tutorial also was very helpful!
Thank you!
Indeed another solution; I've attempted to use some of that with swim goggles but I've never gotten good results. Maybe I should experiment with different brands?
I have a question?! How would you fur the head/mask ?
You pretty much sold me when you mentioned the glasses part, they was something I was worrying about when it comes to making/buying a mask. If I decide to go the resin route ill definitely be ordering one of these. :D
Thank you for this video! I have been trying to figure out how to make the moving jaw mechanism - and this is the easiest solution i have seen! You are saving me hours of time and mess ups :D
What are the ears on your beanie made of?? they are amazing

I'm eager to see the feline masks! I'd definitely purchase one. Anyway, these look fantastic. Keep up the good work!

Can you make a crocodile mask shell ?!

You can get them at craft stores i believe.
great video, very profession and informative Thanks for not adding music to compete with your verbal description.
i quite like your masks, especially the snappiness of the jaw. however, i dont plan on using tearducts for vision. i plan on using my own eyes with a white screen (to give it a pupil-less look, and for better vision.) d o you have any canine molds that will better support that platform?

Working on editing a video of the moldmaking process actually, maybe it'll be up near the end of this month

Could you post that to your channel if you haven't already? I really want to try making a mountain lion
Will you reopen your store at some point? Really nice work
I can ship to the UK, the cost of a cut and hinged mask is approx £65 without shipping
Hey Riley! I have a quick question. C:

Was wondering how much is a complete head with fur and everything
YES! my head is 23 inches! XD Now, I must buy one from you lol!
This is a very well made mask and is one of the best I've seen :)
Lord have mursy i just relised your comment was posted 7 years ago.....WELL GUESS WHAT I WAS 3 SEVEN YAERS AGO 👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👏👐👐🙌👐🙌👐👐🙌👐🙌
Thanks for the video. I’m very interested in this product for a play I’m directing. Where can I purchase this?
I was wondering if you have or could do a short muzzle one for short muzzle breed such as a Rottweiler
will you be creating more masks? like felines, reptiles etc.

i sense many a pokemon costume in the future because of these. will there be other animal designs other then canine?

This is how I started to become a furry. my sister was looking at your channel years ago, and I couldn't stop watching because I didn't know people liked stuff like me. I dug deeper and found out there was a whole fuckin fandom!! THANK YOU
What does it feel like... to hold your own facecast?
A real taxidermy wolf jawset fits very well in the mask and Monoyasha's jawsets should be rather close to this size- based on the measurements posted on her website, you may need to cut back a little of the gums but it should work perfectly fine!
On another note I would love to see you do a momo cosplay from airbender or an arcanine one from pokemon
I wonder if she still sells those blanks
How will you hide the holes in the tear ducts?
How long will you be down for maintenance
I would have bought one rn! But your closed I assume
I know this is late, but are you still making these?
Do you make teeth/fangs for the masks?
I'm just wondering, because, for some reason, your 'Store' section will not display.
The actual site appears, but the 'Store' won't come up.
Hey, I'm new to casting, and creating, got a couple mothermolds already, any tips for hinging? So far that's my biggest stumbling block that i just seem to flop with
you have your own store? pretty awesome
can you do one with a bunny slash goat type features?
Hi, should I go for str8 or v-hinged jaws?
Hi would there be a chance that me and you can talk about how to make a wolf mask in eny case
