I've done a few videos on this subject but never really talked about the principles that make it easy and safe to do... So let's do that!

Superb video yet again, nice and clear. Being a beginner this is a little demon i need to face getting in/out from docks. I've been pure shoreline, i'll give this a go now, looks like i'll have to crack out the rope to. Cheers

Thanks for this. My paddle vessel is an Itiwit Packraft 100, and I think that most of my ins and outs will be from my sailing boat (which you can see on my channel and about equivalent to your high dock) and on beaches. The Packraft is quite tippy so I will need a lot of practice (I need to test my flipping moment without freezing to death). I'm looking forward to warmer spring weather!

Just brought an inflatable kayak for my 5 year old and myself and have not done it for 30 years, lol. We got canals walking distance from me. My biggest fear is this getting in and out. We have a lot of locks near us as well

@MoreThanJustaCleaner 2 man Intex Challenger Kayak for now. I had done a bit of research, and these had good reviews for low-budget Kayak. As I get into more I'll upgrade it. I love your videos, I have been going through the beginner videos, they are so useful. Thank you

Great video, mate. Where I'm paddling at the moment I can only do water launches - so wet feet / legs.
I'm hoping to find somewhere I can do a 'dock' launch like these ones.

Lee, the Cockney Kayaker keeps a towel spread at the foot end for just such situations. It absorbs the water from his feet and stops it sloshing in the craft - good idea :)

Hi Karl I eventually got my backside into the RazorX1 drop stitch, as everyone mentioned they are tippy, but after a while you get used to it
I followed your advice and went with the gel cushion and Thankyou,
Is there a more comfortable seat to purchase that doesn’t collapse under your backside, something a little more rigid than the bog standard seat
The internal width is about 18”
Thankyou and keep up the amazing work👍👍

I've never bought additional seats - I've only ever added cushions. I'm happy to send you some recommendations if you want??
Jon of Ruff Paddling (on RUclips) favours this seat amzn.to/3UxeOHU It's got a really high back and inflatable base/bladder that is removeable if you want to swap it out for something else.

The big drops are the most daunting. I have no doubt they put a lot of people off from even trying 😬

Great video. How would you get in with a young child if it were just the two of you? Would you get in, then try and grab her off the side from your seat? My daughter is a small 5 year old and will try in the next few days, but this is my plan. I'm not sure if it's right.

@@redcoat1355 that's a really good question and not having kids it's not something I've thought about. I think I'd be more inclined to hold the boat steady while she got in, because being small she's not going to tip it. Then I'd follow the method here and get in behind her.
Please let me know what you do and how you get on 👍😁
