About Sherri, I accidentally triggered her recruit scene by just walking up to Balmamusa, no training, and certainly no horn used. I don't know. 🤷♂️ I just got lucky. I was just recruiting more Galgastan troops in Balmamusa to raise my reputation with Galgastan in order to recruit Cressida. I had to redo the Cressida battle over & over bc she wouldn't wanna join. Also, all this happened without me finishing the main story, so I had no idea about World reputation. I just wanted to recruit Cressida, man! 😂😅

Those debuff dances rely on mind, so counter-intuitively, casters make the best swordmasters. if it was me and i wanted a swordmaster on the team, it's not ganpp who i'd switch but rudlum. rudlum has been raised as a warlock so his mind is great. though i'd probably raise him to 50 1st as a warlock/necromancer before switching him to swordmaster and stacking him with mind gear.
I’m not 100% on this but I think you got the initial prompts for Catiua’s recruitment mixed up. When I told Mreuva that I’d become like the ogre if need be, I’m pretty sure she wasn’t present at Barnicia. Meanwhile when I went back with World and gave the other response, she was there. Everything else jives with my experience though, and since she can be recruited regardless of what one chooses for the first response it’s not too impactful either way.
It’s the same principle behind why Vyce either participates to Balmamusa (if you refuse to) or Vyce refuses if you agree to do it. That’s how I think of it anyway to make sense of it.
Hey, thanks for the comment! A recommended order isn't really a thing I have, as the WORLD ng+ system allows you to always go back and get characters. A lot of people recconend going down the Law path first since it's got some of the best characters from a raw function standpoint, but you're never locked out of getting anyone.
@@TitaniumLegman Makes sense ! I guess I meant particularly in the Chaos Route of Chapter 4 though: is there anyone I should go for first in case I get locked out of them trying to get someone else?
@@jaustria6370 oh gotcha gotcha. Not particularly, they tend to come to you in order. The only potential conflicts could be Sherri and Cressida, and Azelstan can be easy to miss just because of the scenes you need to get. But by and large they're all standalone.
It depends on two choices you make. If you follow orders at the start of the game, you're on law. If you disobeyed orders, you're on Chaos. If you disobeyed, but later joined back up, you're on neutral.
@TitaniumLegman man I bought this game a while ago and just got back on so my sister left and I'm on the part where she followed the evil guy cuz she was told she is a princess and her real identity? So is that neutral
Wait, wait, you skipped the best recruitable character, Punkinstopheles! And you glossed over the second and third best, Obda and Berda. Punkinstopheles must be recruited during the Deneb quest line. You were talking about series mascots, and I feel like for Reborn, she's probably more of a mascot than Deneb herself. While Punkin works as a familiar (the rogue class's iconic ability, Sparagmos, was moved here) and is also a fine choice for a songstress, I think most players are using her as a berserker. She's got amazing synergy with Empower Golem. Sanguine Assault + Berserk + Empower Golem = AoE murder. But, more importantly, she's the most popular choice for the Evil Deeds set. By equipping Dadga's Hammer, Skull Mask, and Thanatos Armor, a new skill will show up for you to use. This is an active skill you can use to put nasty status effects on everyone around you. Since you're already putting her into position for berserk, there's a nice positioning synergy going on here. Second only to Punkinstopheles in popularity comes Obda and Berda, whom new players probably remember from their Final Fantasy 14 appearance. I recommend changing one of them to a fire elemental. The issue with gryphons is that they almost always spawn in as air, meaning they're useless on maps with a lot of ice units. That said, there's nothing stopping you from changing one to fire. While Andoras's special dark gryphon is a popular choice for a zombie, Obda and Berda have the fastest RT in the entire game. In fact, you can make them even more absurd by giving one the Firecrest. With your shaman recommendations, you glossed over the elemental wands and robes a bit. Generally, when you're looking at 6 elemental power on a wand, it's not... very noticeable. Still, there's a case to be made for using the wand that's strong against who you're weak to so you get a little extra oomph when attacking them with spells. Elemental 1H caster weapons work like elemental 1H melee weapons in terms of letting you gain a new elemental advantage. (Though, again, 20+ is where you'll notice this. Wands only have 4 or 6 in an element.) Unfortunately, past those elemental wands, most caster weapons are holy or dark. So it's really on rune fencers using 25-30 elemental sword/mace weapons that you can take advantage of this. That said... the robes can matter a good deal. There's a case to be made that the crushing defense stat of a robe is the most important thing. But also, on Olyvia, if you wear earth robes, it'll mitigate the thunder damage you take when someone is striking your weakness, and that can help a lot. In fact, while the resonance skills only provide -touched, shaman can use instill element, which provides -touched and -attuned. So if Olyvia is getting murdered by thunder mobs, giving her the earth robes (boosts lightning resist) combined with instill lightning (lightning-attuned reduces lightning damage you take) will basically shore up her weakness entirely. Add in an earth rod and.... okay, you'll do very slightly more damage than normal when she lobs a water balloon spell at a lightning mob, but hey, it's something. Just in case someone is reading this and hates that Sherri dies so much, you would give her the ice robes, ice wand, and instill air to protect her from her weakness. I think a lot of the way armor/weapon elements work is obscured a lot by the fact that they only count when striking/being struck on a weakness or strength. And just because I'm chatty this morning, for Rudlum as a Lich, I usually run... Spells: Hellhound 2, Life Force, Abyss 2 or Meteor Strike IV, and Paradigm Shift (or Living Dead when doing ogre blade/zombie army stuff) Skills: Daggers or Cudgels (dagger finishers are nice), Reflection (unbelievably powerful for many fights, sometimes I have Cressida, too, so the full party gets it against Blackmoor), Meditate IV, Engulf (a smarter player might use Salvation but I am not a smarter player). Equipment: The usual caster weapon with an element on it, robes that protect against light (light/dark protect against each other, so it's not as confusing as with the elements), and most importantly: an un-used cursed dagger in the offhand. It provides 14% parry chance plus zero weight, and the AI won't be tempted to stab people if it's unused. Lich feels thematically appropriate since we've killed Rudlum as a boss twice before =] It makes sense that his stats are so high, considering his job as apprentice to an evil sage. I actually wonder if he's the one who made Punkin the Bewitched human, based on her Warren Report entry. Hmm.
I like the idea that Rudlum made Punkin human, as it lends a little more purpose to his presence when he's otherwise...just kinda here. All your points about the elemental affinities of gear and such are als quite correct. The issue for me is that, the elemental system just isn't as impactful as I would expect, and while you can build with it in mind, in my experience there's been little reason to actually do so in day to day play.
@@TitaniumLegman For most of the game, I agree with you. (Though I'd argue that giving Sherri ice gear and instill air to protect her from gryphons makes life a lot easier starting in chapter 4.) But one thing I like about Reborn is the way gear and combat evolves the further into it you get. I like that once you're able to do PotD's lower levels, you're finally able to really take advantage of elemental weaknesses and the spells you'd use begin to change in fun ways. From the first few levels all the way to farming the Goylat 3 challenge weapon in CODA 4, the gameplay has continued to evolve. Even the heavenly general and dark knight weapons opened up fun new builds. Heck, CODA 2 unlocking the ability to move skills between classes kept the game fresh even that late. While it comes late story-wise, I'd argue that a lot of players love spending hours in the post game, so in terms of hours played, it still makes up a good chunk of the experience. I liken it to saying "Well, that spell/mechanic doesn't unlock until after you hit the level cap" in an MMORPG. While it's true that most of the story has already happened, a lot of the actual time playing is post-level cap. If that makes sense.
I was also wondering where Ocionne was in this list. She is after all a Chapter 4 recruitable character and you get a free pet dragon with her as well.
