So i'm still resting up with my spine issues, but I wanted to put out a video, so I dug this one up from the vaults!
NOW! I had so many issues with the audio on this one, due to my kid messing with my settings, but let's just blame aliens!

With respect to the undulating inflections in Jeff’s voice during the intro: He was heavily influenced by Pakistani qawwali singer, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Jeff is the GOAT!!! he is to singing, what Jimi Hendrix is to Guitar!!
Jeff was also a criminally underrated guitar player

He has, in my opinion, the best version of Hallelujah. His Father was popular, Tim Buckley, on the late 60’s-early 70’s and sadly took his life. He had a great voice, too. It was a shame they could not perform together. Thank you for this reaction and your explanation.

Anyone who likes this version would be blown away by his Glastonbury performance of this song. First minute is just unbelievable.
This is a phenomenal DVD, and this song starts the concert.
If I remember correctly, one of his biggest inspirations was a very famous traditional Indian vocalist, I can't remember the name but my understanding is that a lot of the instances where he goes into that shamanic style is based on that appreciation.
It was Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and he was Pakistani

FINALLY someone else who realises how insane the Chicago Mojo Pin is. Its just... the pinnacle of this style of voice.
