  • Our ‘Discover’ series is a collection of wine webinars hosted by WSET School London educators and other experts, covering different regions or styles of wine.
Portugal's Douro Valley is one of the most scenic wine regions in the world. Steep, terraced vineyards, often protected by UNESCO heritage status, line the banks of the River Douro as it twists and turns towards the city of Vila Nova de Gaia.
It is in the Douro that grapes are grown for the production of Port - a sweet fortified wine with a long-standing reputation for high quality wines, some of which can age for decades. In this webinar recording, Chris Martin DipWSET, Head of Educator Training at WSET and Port aficionado, takes you through the history of the region and its growing conditions before taking a look at the various wine production processes and maturation options that define the different styles of Port.
