These laws got kind of stupid too, for oftentimes it wound up with the plantation owners actually being the brothers of their unpaid laborers- hence no small amount of incest was used to keep up the labor force and to increase it as well- due in part in proof from the slave codes about the legal status of the children of such a relationship.
7 downvotes? Never seen a RUclips video not get downvotes. Plus some wording in this video is wrong. They say all British colonies had slaves. They meant american, but it comes off as worldwide, which is not true
British influence brought a huge leap forward to most of it's colonies. When Britain left most turned back to barbarism, corruption and tribalism (sadly). Slavery is evil but has been going on for thousands of years. Many cultures had elements of slavery including black and middle eastern cultures.
Yes because Roman slavery was based on racial castes and dehumanizing an entire continent of people, and totally not just spoils of war to fuel the (metropolitan) economy.
This was made for the sole purpose of study material for students studying US history stop getting defensive about a video that isn't made for you lmao.
It’s all about the narrative, these ignorant people don’t care about actual history. She doesn’t explain how slaves and servants were both white and black working together. She doesn’t even mentions French or Spanish influences on these matters. She doesn’t tell you slaves were sold to Europeans by other Africans. She only tells you what is “important” and that’s the dominant narrative.

Slavery practiced by many races and cultures for thousands of years, why pick on Britain? Roman empire built on slavery. Go lecture us on that.
