My Swedish friend from Lidköping showed me these guys, I know they're a children's band and me being 18 and listening to them is a little weird but I don't care if their music is unironicly awesome, they have become a major guilty pleasure of mine

Yea, they are a childrens band, but the thing is that when Lasse Åberg was going to make the childrens show music, he called his friend whom he'd worked with before, Janne Schaffer. Janne, who most likely is the best guitarist in Sweden was in the studio recording a record, with some of his friends, a bunch of the best studio musicians we had, and he asked them if they were up for another album. The history behind Electric Banana Band is that Lars Åberg had created a childrens show that were made in 1976 for Swedish Television, but it had been accidentally wiped when it was going to be repeated in early 1980s. They made a new series and then they got the idea to make their own songs to be performed in the show. In the first series they had shown music videos by bands like Sparks. Then contacted Lasse Åberg Janne Schaffer and asked if he wanted to be a zebra. It became then Electric Banana Band.

I am 30 now, and I have listend to this band since I was a kid. I remember having a VHS with them, good times. It´s not weird at all
