Color eh? Wow, whole new experience. It's like a different show altogether.

That's bizarre that they'd resort to re-tracing years after computer colorization had been introduced. It's also interesting that these only seem to have been sold outside the US.

I know! Turner was colorizing the feature films he owned by computer, so why not do it with the cartoons?

It was his makeup from failing (like the Koreans) on the Popeye cartoons in 1985.

It turns out colorizing by computer was a lot more expensive than re-tracing the cartoons. And Turner wanted to retain the copyright he had on the earliest Merrie Melodies.

Steve Burstein I think 2 redrawn Merrie Melodies were seen on the US Cartoon Network, at least on Toonheads. They were "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile!" and this short.

Actually all the redrawn colorized and original B&W Turner prints of the Harman-Ising Merrie Melodies were sold to all countries including the US, where the B&W versions were rarely shown except during late nights (usually as part of Cartoon Network's Late Night Black and White block or late-night showings of Acme Hour on CN/Boomerang), while the colorized versions are shown during daytime since kids don't like seeing B&W cartoons. However, catching these redrawn colorized and original B&W Turner prints of the Harman-Ising Merrie Melodies on TV are EXTREMELY RARE, even during the early days of Cartoon Network and Boomerang, since these Harman-Ising Merrie Melodies cartoons aren't as popular as the ones featuring the major Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, etc. and these musical cartoons don't really appeal to audiences that much as those laugh-out-loud funny pre-1948 Looney Tunes shorts of the 1940s.

Actually, this is the 1988 redrawn rather than 1995 because they had Turner prints

Those responsible for this method of cartoon colorization could of at least brought in someone who could draw in the "rubberhose" style.

These redrawn colorized Harman-Ising Merrie Melodies, much like the rest of the other redrawn-colorized B&W classic animation such as Mickey Mouse, Looney Tunes, Betty Boop, Captain and the Kids and Popeye, were all colorized by hand by South Koreans under a low budget, supervised by Fred Ladd.

@@kingandrewcecil348 i dont know why south koreans still have low budget on the late 1980s and early 1990s
