This is brilliant!
One of the key things I need to keep in mind is to keep the air moving, etc. with esp. rapid double and triple tonguing, anything faster than allegretto (for me at least) tempo single tongue 16ths... While having clear articulations, even sextuplets, 32nds, etc.
You've already diagnosed the problem and picked a great solution to practice -- you're halfway there! :)

How do you support when playing detached notes with a long silence in between eg quarter note quarter note rest with metronome set at. 50
