I am planning to get this game very soon, this tutorial is awesome! Thanks for doing this. Question, for Naval forces, do supply ships exist at all or do you have to come back to port to resupply?
Thanks so much for the explanation on supply. Question: When you manually attach a HQ to a unit, is the effect immediate, or not effected till next turn?
No problem, and thanks for supporting the channel. BTW, the easy way to check it is the HQs in the beginning of the game. Find a Corps or Army that is not attached and does not have max action points. Attach it and watch the action points go to max.
I think the effect from the HQ bonus on combat is immediate, but the effect on supply is not until the following turn. The question that follows from this is, does a unit get the supply number on its hex or the supply calculated from its nominated HQ, as these can be quite different?
Hi, thanks so much, I didn't really get how HQ's work. About the ports I think you can unload a transport when under supply 5, but you have to wait 1 turn at the dock.
Just to clarify when you say that HQ units dispense 10 supply to each unit, it doesn't actually increase each unit under its command with a supply of 10 it just acts as a starting hex of 10 supply basically and will radiate that ten supply outward from the headquarters unit is that correct?
If the HQ has supply 10 then it decreases each hex by one, or two if difficult terrain. So if a unit is 2 hexes away from and HQ of 10, that unit would have a supply of 8. Hope that answers the question. If now, lmk and we can talk on Discord and I'll walk you through it.
@@GamingwiththeColonel That sums it up perfectly, I really appreciate that discord offer and will keep that in mind should I hit a roadblock I can't get past in my learning!
@@GamingwiththeColonel May I ask what your discord name is or how is best to contact you via Discord Incase I have a question as I further learn the game?
How do you make a chain of HQ's work? What does a supply of 10(6) mean? Why is it better to put HQ's in towns? Is the effect of putting an HQ next to a unit purely one of better supply?
Chaining by putting one in a city behind a front line one. Towns provide better supply. 10(6) is 10 supply for units of that nationality, 6 for allies. As far as next to a unit, it depends,... sometimes its better to have it back a hex or 2 in a city for better supply
They increase only if you have HQs in the area. It's best to have them one the rail lines in a city. Additionally, if you have enough HQ units, you can chain HQs back to Germany. That is how you get the best supply (and why logistics and Command and Control are important techs to research). If you ever want to play a multiplayer game, let me know.
You have made the supply concept easy to understand. Thanks
Thanks, let me know if there are other tutorials I can do. Really appreciate your support.
Really clarified a lot of the supply issues I could not understand, or was simply ignorant of it's existence.
You are welcome. Thanks for joining the channel. I really appreciate the sub. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to see.
Well done. I had no clue until you explained supply to me. Thanks
You are welcome Declan. Appreciate the comment and your support.
One other thing Declan, Logistics adds to the supply level. Very important
@@GamingwiththeColonel thanks again.
Great tutorials for this game... more please. Thanks so much
OK Ken. Let me know what you would like to see and I will make it.
love the chin thing. very cool. I just got this game after being out of the gaming world for a few years. It looks fun and thanks for the help.

You come back to port. Supply is used whenever you attack or are attacked.
Thank's Colonel. Just start to play.

It is immediate. I probably should have mentioned that.

Very informative, great job 👍🙂
Thanks Harry. Appreciate that... now let me take Moscow

Thanks, I am going to try that.
I checked it out. You are right. They can wait one turn and then disembark
Thank you very much. Another excellent tutorial.

What is the effect of downgrading the strength of an HQ (by a successful attack) or cutting it off from its capital?
If your HQ is not strength 10 it will limit the supply and ability to reinforce units.
Good tutorial just the ingame sound is too loud.
Thanks. I fixed the sound issue, but much later. Appreciate the comment and your support.
When or why do the supply numbers across the map increase or don’t they? I am in trouble in the USSR.😬
They increase only if you have HQs in the area. It's best to have them one the rail lines in a city. Additionally, if you have enough HQ units, you can chain HQs back to Germany. Also, the resource count will go up in captured cities by one point per turn to their maximum (usually half of what they were for the original owner.)
Which one is better, World at War or War in Europe?
I prefer WaW
