    When I first saw Sicario I thought "Hey that was pretty good" but ever since I have been slowly realising it's kind of a masterpiece, not perfect, but still pretty amazing.

    Benicico Del Toro is the the most under rated actor around. Like Steve McQueen, he is as natural as it gets and you know this because as you watch him on the Big Screen you forget you are watching a movie. Benicico helps to make this the best drug lord movie of all time.

    Brolin was great FWIW, as was most of the cast. Really enjoyed this movie. Cinematography and the score are outstanding. Especially that ride into Juarez, the overarching sense of dread that the score provides with the atmosphere of those wide panorama shots of the subtle beast was brilliant.

      @anthonylynch575 7 лет назад +25

      I am actually glad she is not in it, not only would it be unrealistic for her to stay with the story after the events of this film, but I felt she was the weak acting link of the movie

    • @marieo3o4
      @marieo3o4 7 лет назад +30

      Anthony Lynch I have to disagree.. big fan of her. Lol but I do agree that it wouldn't make sense for the story involving del toro and brolin. Although I would say they could've followed her career after this big incident and explore how it further changed her. Like how she became much more passionate about catching the big guys and not just the little stuff that she used to do. But it is it what it is!

    My take on Kate: To me, she represented the rules in civilized societies where first line law enforcement is adequate to keeping order...but those same rules can hinder you from battling greater evils which must be confronted. Enemies will use your rules against you, and if you allow that then you also allow an enemy to win, costing many lives.
    Kate wanted to stop the evil, but she was filled with caution, doubt and even wanted to stand down from the operations. Doing it Kate's way would have never allowed Alejandro to reach the cartel leader, and the result of that is the cartel leader continuing to do what he does - kill and win. The final scene of the movie explains Kate's value to the operation - to sign a document attesting that everything was "done by the rules."
    As cartels grow in power they begin to spill over into areas where you don't want them (note the part of the video where it was too dangerous in Juarez to film). When cartels reach your cities and the places you live, your police cannot protect you. By then, the police are owned by the cartels.

    To shoot night vision, they didn't use night vision cameras. DP Roger Deakins said they used the Sony A7s full frame mirror-less camera, which has incredible low light capability but can shoot at 4K in ProRes (with an external recorder). This camera is also a fav among indie filmmakers.

It’s easy to see why he’d think that, we can only talk now that we’ve seen what he’s supposed to be like, there’s no more room for imagining what he’d be like.

      I know this comment and reply are from 3 years ago, and I'm not PT111111, but maybe I can answer your question. Her constant desire to question the unit's plan and to conduct the investigation in a much more traditional/ conservative "by the book" way is weak because it's like wanting to be less effective. Most street cops would give their right arm AND their right leg for the ability to cross the border to actually fight the real cartel. Our justice system is usually very impotent in matters like this; arresting low level stooges does nothing to hurt the high up drug traffickers. So shes suddenly put into a position to be able to actually cripple the entire organization and she does is try to complain. Shes so worried about overstepping her boundaries that she ends up pissing off the whole team set up to take out the boss. It's not necessarily her fault, she's just super naive and idealistic, but she doesnt realize the level of the inter agency task force that shes volunteered to be on. In other words, she should not have needed it spelled out for her. She should have realized what a huge opportunity that Matt and Alejandro were giving her.

      The title of the film does not necessarily indicate the main character. It's not a law.
      The Last Samurai is Ken Watanabe. Tom Cruise is the film's main character.
      Octopussy is Maud Adams, Roger Moore's James Bond is the main character.
      JFK is in less than 10 minutes of JFK. Kevin Costner is the main character.
      Tron is not the main character, Flynn/Clu is.
      Col. Lawrence in Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, is a prominent role, but the main character is David Bowie.
      Tom Hanks is the main character in Saving Private Ryan, not Ryan.
      Get it?
      I've got about 100 more if you don't.

    So this is my LONG road to watching this movie. I missed the chance to see this in theater and just put in the back of my mind. Then the sequel came out and again I missed it. Then out of the blue I started seeing clips of the first film in my recommendation list on RUclips about 3 months ago. After watching some I got hooked and wanted to watch the movie. I tried watching it on my "movie app," but they didn't have one available. Next I signed up to Netflix and found out they didn't have it either. Then off to Redbox, who also didn't have it. I gave up after that, but then as I was at Walmart, I started to go through the Blue Ray bin just for sh*ts and giggles and BOOM! There it was for 5$ right on top. I couldn't believe it. Saved me a monthly subscription with Netflix and the film was cheaper buying it at Walmart then renting it from Redbox or on RUclips. Glad I found it though, because this in now my all time favorite.

Isn't it more moral to risk your career to bring justice to those sexually manipulated for profit.I understand being piratical and making sure you're career isn't blacklisted.But if we're making a observation about morality,it seems pretty fucked up it took both genders so long to go publicly against it.

    You know my mom grow up on Juarez and she told me a story when I was a little kid I was asleep in the trunk when a gang shootout started. Luckily none of my family members got hurt but it was a little traumatizing to my sister how she said she can still remember the shootout. I'm gonna be honest as a little kid I saw at less one horrific event in Juarez from a kid getting hit by a bus and I could see all of his blood on his face. I was just fortunate that I have a mom how knows her way around the violence of Juarez. But lucky now in days Juarez isn't as violent as it was 7 years ago in fact it's gotten better with law enforcement really changing things up a bit. But that doesn't mean the war on drugs is over. There is still that part of me how says that I may still be visiting the safe parts of Juarez and not really seeing the big picture. It's scary to think that an operation like this is actually possible and it could happen at anytime. The same with the underground cartel. How know working for the DEA or any law enforcement working on stoping drug trafficking could be so life threatening.

    I really like this movie and watched it again last weekend. No stupid love stories, and many “ah-ha” moments. Some really cool tactical moments too. I really liked a part near the end when everyone geared up then headed into the darkness against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset. Highly underrated movie.

    I still watch Sicario 1 & 2 at least twice a year. Honestly I never saw Brolin outside of the movie, and if I would’ve never watched any interviews with him I could’ve always kept the image that this man was a legit Mercenary from real life to movies after he retired. Played it like a King. Benicico was phenomenal in this. Kate, not so much because most people don’t realize how awful the cartel world really is, and what these guys did in the movies is pretty much all there is to do to actually make a difference in that world. That’s the hard truth people can’t accept.
