    curious what you used as a spacer between the bracket and engine bay... looks like some kind of bushing? without a spacer/bumper, one side of the power switch is effectively useless.

    Wow what an intriguing product. Seems to be very well thought out, I like the CarPlay feature too!! I’m a little while out on buying a switch system, but this one definitely has my attention.

    Does using the Garmin require getting rid of the Switchpro unit? I have a SP-9100 and am wondering if I can use the Garmin for expansion and run the Garmin through my head unit. So, could I use the SP-9100 for certain basic switching functions and the Garmin for everything else, including controlling things through the head unit?
    I still think you and Kai should have a throwdown, Toyota style. :))

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  Год назад +1

      Oh definitely could. Depending on your bracket too you could drill custom holes and mount up a garmin pretty easy. I swear they fit anywhere because they are so small and self contained.

    Is there another way to automatically turn on the amber drl’s without tapping into the ignition fuse? I’d prefer not to tap into any fuses

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  Год назад

      What you could potentially do...I am not sure if this is a feature or not. But a lot of units have memory so if you turn them on they will stay on. The issue is the system won't know when your vehicle is turning on and off...You could just tap into a different fuse that gets power once the vehicle is on. There are also T taps to tap into a wire below the fuse box. Tx.4Runner on IG is making special fuse box risers that are conducive to add a fuses. There are some options potentially but its hard to get around if you need a vehicle running trigger. At least that is my experience. Maybe Blaze Offroad could give some suggestions.

    I was looking at the AAC Trigger controller or the Garmin. This video, alone, sold me on the Garmin. Thanks for the clarification. 👊🏽

    What I want is have my headlights automatically switch between daytime running lights to night time. Can you do that? And how to add dual sided AC.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  Год назад +1

      Well probably someone could by pass that switch with a calibrated photo diode or something that could determine day and night...then the photo diode could be a trigger wire for maybe controlling two garmin switches for the low beams and the DRLs haha. Just spit balling.
      Not sure how to add dual sided AC...that might be searching the OEM parts catalog and depending on the wiring harnesses, could maybe retrofit dual climate control from limited to the lower trims...that sounds like way too much work.
      These are creative questions but thats not remotely simple haha

    Quick question! How did you wire your DRLs without them being constant on with the powerswitch? Just installed mine, it's great!

    Is every video now just going to be a paid promotion for a different product?

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  Год назад +6

      Likely unless you want to fund my channel. I research all the products I want to run, write proposals for the companies in advance and then plan content months in advance so that I can bring content I believe in and not have to front all the costs. I could instead front the costs and make a video once a month or every other month with a less interesting build and simpler projects but then people would complain I don't post enough or the content is boring...not sure what to do at this point.

      @@jcole0719 I appreciate it. Being in a small niche like this has its pros and cons but pure viewership on RUclips is not like the people who review cell phones. If I pulled wild views and could use that money on different projects, I would totally do that. Thats similar to the Grind Hard Plumbing Co channel. Hopefully some day I can get there but in the mean time, I've written so many proposals to bring weekly videos because thats what seems to be what people want most!
