Everyone's reaction to Allison not using her powers is exactly why she doesn't use her powers because once you start using them to get what you want you never stop

Allison doesn't stop using her powers for any significant amount of time. She faced consequences that she couldn't rumor her way out of, that is why she stopped. Her whole life was gotten by her powers. She is the only sibling that consistently uses her power for personal gain.
"I heard a rumor that you think you're just ordinary" applied not only to Vanya thinking she doesn't have powers but to every aspect of her life.. Heartbreaking😢
Wow, I never thought of that. From her music to her social life, to everything. It would have kept her from believing she could excel at anything.
Whenever i think about this i get this pinching sensation in my chest..lol.. As someone who suffered from inferiority complex when i was a teen, and even now as an adult i still have confidence issues and doubts, it's really painful when you get these moments of feeling like you're not good enough, you try to fight it but there are times when you just can't win, imagine feeling that way everyday of your life for as long as you can remember.. That's why i cannot hate Vanya.. I know what she did to Allison was bad, and people argued that all siblings had been through trauma.. But I just can't hate her...
Add to that her being in a near constant medicated state, while being ostracized from your family.
I didnt realise till now but the fact that vanya lived 30 years believing she was ordinary shows you the strength of allison's power....like all that time
Allison must be extraordinarily strong for her rumor to have lasted *that* long on Vanya, especially with her being so powerful
she was holding her violin bow and swung it but that was energy from her power that shot from it. so yall were kinda both right
I love how sensitive Rob is, which most guy’s aren’t, and he has great commentary on what’s happening. This show was so good and this episode was very sad, not only for Vonya, but that she lashed out at Alison.

She used her powers to extend the violin bow to slit Allison’s neck. It wasn’t a long bow it was her powers.

Allison has been scarred by using her powers, she knows that once she starts she can't stop, and she doesn't wanna end up the way she was before with her daughter again

Vanya used her powers to slice allisons throat. She was holding the violin bow but it was still her powers that sliced through the air. She can do that.
Vanya getting off that mood stabilizer medication without withdrawing did not help this situation. She’s been taking it since she was like 4 and there’s no way in hell she is going to do great at handling all of the changes and traumatizing events well. Also, y’all should watch Heartstopper 🥰
Allison is afraid to use her powers because eventually it just makes it worse.
This is not correct. Allison faced consequences for her actions that her powers couldn't get her out of. "I made a wish and got what I wanted, and I couldn't take it back." That is what Allison says the first time Luther finds out that she is getting a divorce. That is the problem with Allison, she uses her powers tor her own selfish gain. Her wants are more important than anyone else's free will.
Diego was being investigated for being at scene of Patch's killing. It was routine Police work. He was attached to a lot of the goings on of Hazel and Cha Cha. So he was arrested as a suspect into all that mayhem that had been happening in the city. Not a mystery at all. Also Allison is very reluctant to use her power. Like she said "she wished for something and could not take it back". Lost her marriage and kid because of it. So she is cautious. Thanks for the reaction. Hope you guys do season 2 also.

I’m not referring to when they were kids. I’m not saying it was Alison’s fault either. But if you go back & listen, you’ll hear Alison try to use her power on vanya again, and that’s when vanya snaps and slit her throat.
@@CowsRdumb you have to remember that she has been on meds that numb her emotions for years, and she just abruptly stopped using them. Her emotions are probably overflowing and she can’t control them since she’s never been like this before, not saying she is still not responsible for her actions. It’s just a series of unfortunate but understandable events in my opinion. Though i also think she should have just brought the police report inside the cabin so she could have some evidence for vanya to look at.
If I knew someone with Allison's power and I heard them say "I heard a rumor" in my direction, I would lash out violently. I would do everything in my power to stop them from saying whatever they were trying to say. If that meant killing them, oh well. I'd consider it self defense.
Honestly there are some pretty terrible tv parents but Reginald Hargreeves is up there, maybe the worst because he genuinely thinks he’s doing the right thing

if something "small" like rumoring her daughter to go to sleep ended with her losing costody and getting divorced how do u think something so big like that is going to turn out? also what do u want her to do exactly travel to every country and somehow tell every world leader that what? i heard a rumour you are peaceful? like she would have to alter reality a whole lot to achieve that and just like five's power not bc she can, she SHOULD

Even though she was young I mean she could have told her the truth as soon as she got older and left the house.
She didn't seem to understand the significance at the time. Allison was simply told to tell vanya she was ordinary, we usually don't remember tings we deem unimportant, especially at such a young age. I don't even think Allison knew Vanya had powers, since we never saw them train together
She suppressed the memory. Especially at 4. There was no significance in the moment for Allison. They were all constantly abused and pushed to their limits

Her entire life was centered around the fact that she thought she was just ordinary. And nothing she could ever do could change her mind on that. Alison's ability to manipulate reality through her words. (Although I'm now really curious if Alison could do that in ASL, and if she could "rumor" someone in English who understands anything but English -- if it would still work.) She manipulated Vanya's reality to only ever think she was ordinary. Personality-wise. With everything. Because it's left in general terms. And her father treating her as such, and her siblings focused on their own trauma's, own abilities, own lives, never paid her the attention that could have saved her. Changed her reality. Like Leonard was able to do for Vanya. And she was what? Four? Let's say she is 25 now, that's 21 years out of 25. 84% Feeling inadequate, not special, useless, average. That sucks.
And don't get me wrong, Alison isn't to blame at all. She was four years old at the time. She didn't have the experience or know-how to understand the implications of that rumor, to understand there are downfalls to her ability, or enough willpower or reason to defy her father. And she was four. I'm shocked she remembers. And for that next rumor? Bad move. But what other choice did she have? In that moment. Leonard could show up at any minute, Alison knew how dangerous this person was, and why, and that he never cared for Vanya at all. And Vanya was incredibly emotional. Too emotional to think of reason. And had a lot of reason (mostly anecdotes and feelings, but nonetheless) to believe, or want to believe Leonard over her sister.
But for Alison to do another rumor. Like that. To Vanya. After confessing smth like that. There was no way that situation would end any other way. Vanya's paralyzing need to be accepted by her family, to be treated like equals, and, in the end, to be, or more importantly, feel JUST as special as they are. And to learn she was robbed of ALL of that because of their father and Alison's rumor. Yes, it sucks that the father made that decision. Came to that conclusion. But Alison robbed Vanya of the free will she was entitled to. Free-will that would allow Vanya to decide whether she felt special or not. To decide, whether she mattered. Yeah, maybe that wouldn't change the way her father or siblings treated her, but it damn hell would have given Vanya the option to choose whether she mattered to herself.
Sorry, I guess I had a lot to say. But I now realize Pogo was there when Alison did the deed. Which I think reveals a new layer to Pogo and Vanya's relationship. How Pogo might have been one of the few to have treated Vanya the way she deserved to because he felt guilty and pitied her. And makes me look at what Vanya does later in a new light. idk I just realized this as I was writing the above paragraphs.
I feel like a lot of people hold Vanya at this high standard just because she had the worst and saddest story. Like I understand she was literally abused for YEARS but she was not a good person. Vanyas character just now grew on me in the latest season.
All the children were abused and vanya fans seem to forget it. The others had it worse she was just told she was ordinary
The medication and getting off of it after years is also abuse and very hard to regulate emotions after getting off of them

They weren't siblings really vanya was isolated and could not truly bond with them

the rumor their father made Allison put Vanya under didnt affect just the fact that she didnt have powers it affected everything in her life. Like the hobbies she would take and stuff.
yeah she didn't say "you believe you don't have powers", she said "you believe you're just ordinary" (at the father's command). in general, ordinary in everything in her life. it's crazy and really sad.

People are far more compassionate for Vanyas abuse vs sayyyyy the rest of them or they hate her. She is annoying AF and as flawed as everyone else so I’m on the middle. Lol Fundamentally at their core this family is emotionally stunted but the loss of her daughter and then father had Alison reassessing her life choices realizes she could have been better. Diego has major daddy and inferiority issues. Luther is straight up the most stunted of growth never even leaving the house to see what being a real person is like so of course he only sees black and white because he’s been living a life long fantasy as superhero. Klaus doesn’t take anything seriously but wants to be taken serious. Five grew up alone at the end of everything with his family being his sense of normalcy before life twisted his soul. It all comes back to Reginald Hargreaves. The emotional fallout from their very existence and nurturing training is what we see the characters in this season; they’re meant to grow. Vanya was in a fucked up place being cold turkeyed off whatever drugs she was on and being manipulated by someone at a very low point so I get it but also girl, she smeared her family business public for personal gain and I quickly forgave that so can you at least let me show you some facts so you don’t need to take my word for it. I think you can owe her that Vanya
