    Sir, good day.
pls allow me to ask you a question :
How capacitance probe (sensing probe) detects oil?
    can you pls reply.
    it would be helpful.

Capacitance value is depending on kind of media between the probes.
Capacitance of Water is 40 times higher than capacitance of Oil.
When all 3 probes submerged in the oil level,
Reducing in value of capacitance, compare to these probes submerged in the water.
(Xc reactant ohm value is increasing)
Resulting change of ohm value makes alarm system to sound it.

@@marineengineerparami many thanks and respect ❤❤❤
this was asked in oral exams, unfortunately i couldn't answer. Thanks for helping me out once again 💐

i have a question, pls help!
lets pretend your ship engine room is flooding. You need to pump out the bilge quickly. But we all know bilge has some oil. So what to do at that period? can i pump out oily bilge emulsion directly overboard? or use OWS?

      Good question.
      If engine room is flooding,
Stability of the ship will be poor, due to free surface effect.
In this case, can be pumped out by using emergency bilge suction valve.
And it should be reasonable amount to be discharged.
Then record in the Oil Record Book according to code “G”.
This Code “G” means accidental or exemptions of discharge oil overboard.
Some people call code G as honest declaration.
