I already hit lVL 17 before discovering the Dark arts arena or even unlocking broom,Pets, room of requirements etc. I think levelling up is fairly easy in this game without even doing this. All i did was solved puzzeles and collected field guide pages. I play on Normal.
I've done the same thing. It makes leveling and doing quests miles easier with the broomstick tho

The XP is for killing enemies to complete your Combat section in the guidebook. As soon as you have killed enough of the enemies you won't get XP any longer. This also means that when you encounter the enemies later in the game, they will no longer grant you experience points. So it is kind of a waste of time to grind there.
I was wondering why I wasn't getting XP for completing waves in the Dark Arts arena, I just assumed it was a bug. Kind of frustrating

This does work and you can complete a lot of challenges (or whatever they are called) at the same time. I went from something like level 13 to 19 and there does not seem to be a limit. However once I was at 19 I noticed it was taking at least 3 times to go up a single level so I guess the higher you go the less you earn towards levelling up. But as I was constantly running into level 20-ish enemies when free roaming, this helped immensely with not being out-levelled!
the higher you rank, the more XP gap there is. Thats why.
This is good to know. I still haven't completed my first playthrough but it's late game for me at this point (It's winter time). If I had to do it again I'd probably get to level 16 before the first troll fight, and stream line my way to level 25-30 through the arena, field guide pages, and doing all the merlin trials. I really hate how armor scales to your level. I wish Armor just scaled in general (like in Zelda) because you already can't grind XP like you normally would.

See for the first part of the game before I can get out I get as many of the field guide pages as I can then I do this for a bit then progress a bit and do some more field guide pages 😂
It caps as soon as you finished all the combat challenges and enemy Typ challenges. I was lvl 32 when i finished my last enemy challenge and now i DON‘T gain ANY exp from enemies, no matter if i kill a random wizard, a troll or even a boss no exp gain…
As i’m now done with all guide pages, combat challenges, beast capture challenges, merlin challenges, etc im struggling to lvl up further… i have a few balloons, landing spots and ancient magic ones left but all of them will be just 1more lvl so i guess my last few lvl for 34 to 40 i need to do with missions… pretty stupid design of the developers to only give exp for challenges in my opinion.
i'm at 39 with everything done but dueling feats which give 35 xp per.. the grind is real.
I dont know what you are doing differently. Ive got tons of merlin challenges left, ive never done any balloon or beast capture stuff that wasnt for a specific quest and I ignore dueling feats. I still hit lv 34 on normal without ever having to grind.
I cant fathom how you could clear the map of all bonus content and still be struggling to level up.
@@shihoblade I agree. I did all quests, Merlin's, and a lot of other stuff and am stuck at 38. Seems like once quests and the main story is done, you're pretty much done 😂

I hate it really made me just want the story to end so I can move on I did not enjoy the leveling at all rather than making challenges optional it is recommended to level it made me hate the game as a harry potter fan it made me sad
if your someone who likes to complete everything i would just farm the scrolls around hogwarts instead of doing this because it also gives you alot of xp but if you really dont care about that then this is for you.

Every time I complete this arena it says return to highland or restart arena then i return to highland and i lose all my xp that i did in the arena?
This works at the beginning but you cannot hit 40 this way. XP only comes from completing the game’s challenges some of which are being completed by doing what this video shows. But hitting 40 involves completing every side mission and main story mission as well as a lot of challenges that take place in the open world.

Level 21 already? I'm only 17 and have gotten the broom just now. But it doesn't really seem to matter, I don't think level makes you any stronger, at least it doesn't feel like it.

I set up a macro with my zen and it is a bit tricky as to how the xp is earned here. After a while I stopped getting xp from progressing through the waves and only earned xp from the duelling feats. Either way its still a solid way to level up
At what level did it stop?
@@Caspahz doesn’t necessarily stop at a level it just stops when your challenges are more or less done i got about 4-5 levels off it at around level 21 ended up getting to level 26 or so and at that point you kinda get just basic killing an enemy xp
@@jammmerr4373 not true as soon as you done all combat and enemy kill challenges, killing anything dont reward any exp anymore as you only gain exp from challenges. Theres no basic exp reward for killing enemys after having done all challenges

Then that's easy earn exp till you don't then return and repeat
this doesnt work anymore for me , it was working today a few tikes then it just stopped and i got less exp by less i mean 58xp on story mode

Hey do you have any solutions to fps drops. I usually get around 90 but it keeps dropping to 30 pretty often
Are you on PC? I’m having the same issue and so are many others. They need to optimize it better and release an update.
@@Caspahz ray traycing seems to be the problem on pc turn it off until it gets fixed
I am on pc. Lowering setting to medium fixed it for me. Have an rtx 2080 so I didnt even bother with opening rtx. Well it didnt exactly fix it but now it drops to 60 which at least bearable.
@@Ege39 play on 1080p or 1440p? 2080 is an older card at this point tbh, hurts to say it. My 3080ti at 1440p on ultra struggles to keep up as well. If the game was cooked on UE5 I think we may have a better experience but still playable fps for a story game fs
It literally takes all challenges to get to level 40. You only get levels for each challenge. Nothing else. The reason this gets xp is cause he’s yet to have killed all the enemies per each challenge (dark wizards combat etc)
Just defeat n battle a lot
Have fun, tease them n the furthest you go- you get a ton because all the villains r there

From the start on you only gain exp from challenges so when you done with a challenge you dont get any more exp for it anymore for example if you have all book pages in hogwarts challenge completed and find another one in hogwarts you dont gain any more exp same with enemies as soon as all combat and kill challenges are done you dont get anymore exp from fighting anything

Did the xp get nerfed?
if you kill a certain amount of enemies (indicated by the field guide), you no longer get exp from killing those enemies/
Xp is tied to challenges. Xp is only as fast as you complete them....
You can't reach max level if you don't 100% your challenges.

This isn't really fast at all though. I reached level 17 without even trying just by playing through the game naturally. I come here and after restating challenge 3 times I'm still at level 17. I wish it actually was fast.
Well hopefully people aren't exploiting the money making animal selling as catching those will level you up 2-4 levels just doing that for less than an hour.
After you finished the challenge to capture beasts id doesnt reward any exp anymore for capturing so its only a way to get money at this point.
also not really an exploit as its just a game mechanic

@@Gamerbox89 if you rush the game sure its an valid option to make some cash but if you take your time up to the point where you can capture beasts you’ll have more than enough money by selling gear and opening chests
i would do collectors cave first to get to 20 First tho if you got the deluxe edition that way yoiu can power up early

This isn't worth it at end game, this won't get you to level 40 fast, you need to side quest for that. This is purely and early game grind.
The game is already easy enough why Rob yourself of having an actual challenging fun experience

this game feels so unfinished, con: gives better stat armor over and over, cosmetics gets taken off everytime u put new clothes on, leveling feels pointless unless u just want more health. forbidden forest feels so underwhelming, armor being heavly re-used, legendary gear becomes useless once u level once up due to low tier gear has better stats, replay of the game feels like a chore at the start, so many pages need to be found so u are running around casting the same spell over and over every sec to see if a page is near.

It does cap out. Your XP and level is linked to your Field Guide Challenges. So say once you have defeated enough Trolls to get all the Defeat Trolls Challenges you stop getting XP from killing Trolls.

As easy it is to level just playing the game you really have no reason at all to farm xp like that no point other then you having way to much free time🤣🤣
