When my wife joined me in retirement, I was 63 and she was 52 so we needed to get health insurance through the ACA. We signed up and got it all done and on the last day that you could sign up we went back online to make sure everything was good. Well, all of our information like estimated income had been changed which affected our premiums. We called in and the person who talked to us said this happens from time to time. An insurance agent had made the changes and then attached their name to our account so that they would get the commission. Everything was restored and they did an investigation because doing what the agent did is actually illegal. Now I’m on Medicare but my wife is still on the ACA. What the nice lady at the ACA told us is just to call in and let their people handle things . Don’t go online and possibly screw something up. They fill it all out for us each year and we haven’t had another problem since.

When I first used the ACA they had a issue with my proof of income and canceled my subsidy but my insurance wasn't canceled. It finally was resolved but I never lost the coverage. Hope she works it out.

It's a mess. They keep jerking me around with my primary. Cannot get anything without a defined primary physician. Their lists of physcians are all incorrect or out of date. Doctors are dropping out of the program mid-cycle. Getting someone on the phone to help is nearly impossible. Its broken

Single payer can’t happen in the US because the insurance industry owns ‘both’ parties.
Socialism for people can’t happen because the government is directed to redistribute wealth upward from taxpayers toward the companies that pay off the politicians in ‘both’ parties.
Republicans aren’t for or against the size and power of government. Republicans do what they get paid to do by their donors, just like the Democrats.
The only public difference between the ‘parties’ are divisive social issues that either can’t be resolved, or can easily be replaced with ‘new’ social issues.
Theoretically the president can have the final say about entering or expanding war, but most presidents jump at the opportunity to use the expensive weapons their donors manufacture.

I agree 100% US healthcare is not about keeping or getting you healthy. I've been retired now for the past year and I definitely made some major changes. Lost 20 lb, eating healthier and reduced alot of the crap I was eating. Now I am starting to find Direct Delivery meet poultry and fish services to avoid the supermarket

This is exactly the opposite of single payer. If there was a single payer she wouldn’t be having a problem.

ACA plans want you report to them any changes in life. They have a list of examples so the plan can be adjusted accordingly. Otherwise they are good staying put in my sunshine state.

If the large corporations control everything then why are you against Gvt Medicare for all? I’m not for that but it seems you’re trying to say ACA is like single payer but then blame large corporations? Also, I don’t automatically believe a random person emailing you just like I don’t believe everything a politician tells me. Both seem politically motivated.

Joe Manchin isn’t even running this year. How do you manage to be so misinformed? My insurance company has provided me a totally free program for a year called Lifestyle Medicine to teach me how to eat better, exercise more and live a healthier lifestyle. I’m sure at least part of the reason is they know it’s cheaper to help me be healthier than to treat my preventable ailments and chronic conditions later in life.

Looking at ACA next year for the wife. Trying to estimate costs is like nailing jello to the wall. Yes, I use spreadsheets extensively.

Per a recent WSJ article, Americans in poverty received the average of $64K/year in total subsidies. If this is true, even people w/o SS, pensions and savings are doing pretty well.
