Aside from the constant lies spewing from Manchin's mouth, I commend Cenk on never losing his cool about his name being pronounced incorrectly for 40 solid minutes.
The best interview by Cenk of someone with opposite views. He did not try to bully them into admitting they were wrong. He asked piercing questions and had them say what their positions were and this was all that was required to expose them.
This guy is incredibly representative of "a useful idiot". He's genuine in his waffling, obfuscation, and that's exactly why those big donors back him.
Respect for Joe Manchin on coming on TYT. Obviously I don't agree with what he says, and he may be lying through his teeth. One could say he has balls. Thanks for the interview though Cenk!
Manchin mentions the British boy where the "government" decided whether he'll receive care, yet insurance companies determine healthcare for people in the U.S. based on profit.
I'm Canadian the only time I hear of other Canadians going to the US for healthcare is from American politicians, I'm sure it's happened but I've never met anyone whose done it.
The only time it happens is because well Canada has fewer people than California, therefore, we have less specialist in certain fields and may require because of time to see a specialist in the States it is a question of specialist to population ratio. More people, more specialist it is just common sense.
Without insurance, one would go bankrupt for even a simple medical problem or hospital stay. If one had tens of thousands of $ and there was a cure that you needed to save your life that is only available in US one would do it. Otherwise, who will leave free healthcare in Canada or any other country to spend a fortune in the US.
Did anyone see how he kept saying Cenks instead of Cenk? Other than that, Cenk did what some may see as softball but was actually very calculating. He needed to make Senator Manchin feel comfortable so he would stumble. He dodged most of the questions and kept cutting Cenk off (who remained calm and professional about it). I wonder if TYT will have him back on.
I think Cenk did the job. He asked the hard questions you'd never even heard as a whisper on MSM, Joe answers and showed us his BS. We know it's BS, even Cenk does with his follow up questions and observations to his BS. And Cenk still did it respectfully. It's up to the voters now to get Joe Manchin out. I'm satisfied with the interview.
The fact that he said that he didn't know who his donors were and then being confronted with a graphic of who they were just shows what kind of person he is.
+Boy Blue The existence of that graph doesn't mean anything - someone else compiled it. If Manchin says he doesn't know the details of his donations then unless there is evidence to the contrary we should take him at his word .... but stay sceptical all the same.
During the last few seconds of the interview I realized that Mr. Manchin is doing this because he is spooked by his primary opponent. Be spooked Mr. Manchin. You're in trouble.
Manchin is in no trouble. Don't waste any money supporting his opponent. Why do you want to hand a seat to republicans. A progressive democrat would get crushed in a general election. Manchin will get re-elected easily
jeremy tranor - You hit the nail on the head . I'm a progressive and I supported Bernie Sanders. But you have to keep it real. I'm not a WV native but I'm from Appalachia and the last thing voters want is a liberal environmental activist doing their bidding. You have to win first before you can change things. Manchin will WIN. Period.
Manchin will never LEAD the way with any change. I will give you that. But if you put a Democrat in the White House and Congress changes from Red to Blue (it will happen with time); he will be there to vote on the bill that Democrats need to pass. A republican would not do that. I understand voting for the lesser of two evils is burdensome and deflating. But you can ask all the medicaid recipients fixing to lose their healthcare how voting for the lesser of two evils can sometimes make a difference. He is the best West Virginia has to offer. And Democrats first priority needs to be WINNING. Moral victories mean nothing when it comes to making policy.
I'm from the UK and that one child he's referring to isn't because it's a single payer system, he's trying to pull the wool over your eyes. The reason they are trying to decide on if they should treat him or not is because of human rights. The little boy has such a rare condition that there is only one drug that MAY be able to help, this drug has not been fully researched/tested (still a prototype drug)so there is a big fear from the European court of human rights that this drug may cause untold pain and suffering on the child. Because this baby can't move or show any form of emotion, there would be no telling if this little boy is suffering untold pain before dying as a result of this drug.
+Michael Babcock He also sounds very reasonable. Perhaps the "progressives" should listen to the moderates a little more and do less talking. The important thing is not necessarily which team you're on but which policies are the most effective.
Perhaps “moderates” (whatever that means) should listen to progressives a little more and do less talking. Everyone cares about which policies are the most effective. That’s precisely the disagreement between “progressives” and “moderates.” (By the way, social democracy is by definition moderate/center left. It’s an hardly extreme position. Defining Third Way democrats as “moderate” sounds like a lazy form of the golden mean fallacy to me.)
SainterSan: I didn't hear him put forward a SINGLE policy, just why he's against every populist proposal. You were probably snookered by Hillary's reasonable sounding word salad too. Maybe we were listening to different people?
+David Stewart By 'moderates' I mean people who see the wisdom of the centrist position (center-left/center-right) - it's where the majority of people park their politics. Sometimes hard lefties and alt-right call it the "establishment" whatever that means. In my days of protest (60s and 70s) it was called the system. To the third way and social democracy - the third way was a Tony Blair thing back in the 90s that he skimmed off the successful left wing Australian leadership of the 80s, namely Prime Minister Bob Hawke and his treasurer and later PM, Paul Keating. Back then the Hawke government took the best elements of the new Neoliberal paradigm - floating the dollar, deregulating the banks etec - and married it to a social wage increase for the workers in the form of free universal healthcare and government administered superannuation for retirement. The unions agreed not to strike for wage increases. It worked beautifully and as a result Australia has had 28 years of uninterrupted economic growth. My point is social democracy can work if the "progressives" are flexible enough to accept some cutbacks here and there. You can't have it all your own way is the main point, which unfortunately seems to be the attitude of the progressives, especially the millennial progressives who think that now that THEY are in the world everything must change as they decree. ;) Funny old world isn't it son! BTW, by definition, social democracy is NOT moderate at all. It's a gamble, especially for a country like the U.S. You watched the full interview? You saw Cenk's subdued behaviour? That's because he was up against a guy who knows the details. The progressives would do well to study the details before making their demands.
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
Joe Manchin why don’t you take out $5 million that you get from your coal business and give it back to your West Virginia people who could actually use it.
Joe"..to those that think I should be more liberal, I would like to say that I'm more responsible." Ironic. So the guy who takes no responsibility for who his donors are or how his votes have helped those donors, has the gaul to call liberals irresponsible? Someone's projecting.
He spends 3 months of the year dealing with his constituents and the other 9 months fundraising and he doesn't know who's giving to his campaign? RIIIIIIGHHHT!
Man, he looked awkward and flustered most of the interview. There's no way Manchin would have done this interview if he wasn't scared of losing in a primary. Kind of satisfying to see him squirm. Kinda annoyed Cenk didn't get him to stop mispronouncing his name over and over.
Any time anyone highlights "dark money" when talking about campaign finance reform, they're full of shit. "dark money" isn't the problem, money in general is the problem.
"I'm cons... I'm fiscally responsible and socially compassionate." Meaningless BS. I don't know anyone from any party who doesn't make this claim. I did enjoy the slip of the tongue in the beginning though. Just admit you're conservative, man. You'll get more respect that way.
More questions on the same issue, Cenk, ... some "whys" more, more pressure when the Senator's answers were not satisfyingly clear. For the rest...thanks for doing and sharing this interview with us. 👋🏼✌️👍🏼
Joe Manchin says he doesn't know his donors. Manchin's 2nd largest donor is Mylan. His daughter is the CEO of Mylan who raised the price of epiPens by 461 percent.
*Cenk:* Are you in favor of single-payer healthcare? *Manchin:* Uh, I want to discuss it, and Canadians come over here, and I want the best for us all, waffle waffle. *Anyone:* Are you in favor of single-payer healthcare? *Sanders:* Yes.
Max Rockatansky Bernie is the only one who constantly brings up his donors. Maybe spend a littlr bit less time counting all the money you are robbing from your supporters and a little more time working. No other politicians love their donor as much as BS.
"I don't know who donates money to me. Do I think we should clean streams. Yeah. I fish, I fish so much I carry a pole in my car. A pole for fishing in water in west Virginia. Fish. I love fish. I keep in my car, who's named after a fish. Fish are important Janks."
There's a reason this guy is a Senator. Just listen to him blatantly lie throughout this entire interview, and you have to admire how smooth and polished he is. He doesn't miss a beat, never stumbles, so convincing.. gee, no idea who my donors are, gee, those bill just ain't detailed enough, etc. Such a crook but sooooooooo charming and convincing. I know he's helping to destroy the country but he's so darn folksy and friendly.. and somehow agrees with me! Let's go have a beer! All these guys are dangerous!!!!!
lauriesproject I don't believe in sp, we need to know the pros and cons even though I've been a politician for a long time and seen how ridiculous our system is, Im going to spew lies about Canadians coming here for care even though extensive research proves otherwise. I haven't bothered doing my own research or spoke with thousands of doctors for SP because this is what republicans. ..I mean democrats do for their doners, or for my daughter who works for big Pharma -Joe Manchin
I love how if you invoke Bernie Sanders' name, their knee-jerk response is , "He's not a Democrat", as if that is all that needs to be said to utterly discredit him.
I thought 'Jenks' was a slip of the tongue when it happened the first time. But so far he seems to think that's his name, which is really quite fantastic.
Okay so the interview JUST STARTED and already he's pissed me off. People should give back? You mean give back what little they've managed to hold onto after being taken advantage of by an abusive government and corporate establishment? Blame the victim then, he really is a republican. I hope Paula Jean wipes the floor with him.
I'm from WV. I voted for him back in 2008. He was more "democrat" than his opponent. I wish I wasn't forced to vote for him. I am actively connecting with my friends in WV to help vote him out! He's an embarrassment and has to go. He shouldn't have been reelected!
This is one slick politician. It shows you what an intelligent person can do once he or she has completely abandoned truth. It's both scary and impressive.
Don't insult our intelligence by saying you don't know who your top donors are. The amount of time legislators spend fundraising is sickening. Have enough integrity to be honest and own up to it, I could at least respect that much.
Cenk: answer this simple question.
Joe: unrelated story time!!!
Gabriel Paulino
cenks*****
Thanks 4 having me Jinx.
Cenk showed his journalist side and was really professional throughout the whole interview, while still holding him accountable. Great job!
Aside from the constant lies spewing from Manchin's mouth, I commend Cenk on never losing his cool about his name being pronounced incorrectly for 40 solid minutes.
Jenks
I came into the comment section just to find this comment , I smiled every time he said *cenks*
"Jenks"
Bill Nye there's a more than one..
I'm seven minutes in to this interview and I'm already convinced this guy is a Republican posing as a Democrat.
That's most of the party since the early 90's
The best interview by Cenk of someone with opposite views. He did not try to bully them into admitting they were wrong. He asked piercing questions and had them say what their positions were and this was all that was required to expose them.
Wow! Thanks, JENKS!! 🤣 This was eye opening. It should be shared widely. Send it to AOC!
"I'm a cons-, -ah-, -fiscally responsible and socially compassionate." The whole interview was worth it just for this freudian slip.
58% voted against his party... he is a Republican under cover. He should man up and register as Republican already.
Great Job Cenk you challenged Joe in many areas I thank You as a West Virginian
1234uz vote joe out and vote for a justice Democrats.
Vote Paula Jean bro
"jenks, i know this is hard to believe, but I have no idea where the hundreds of thousands of dollars I get come from."
That was THE bullshit line of the interview for sure!
He says he doesn't know where the money comes from despite his daughter being the CEO of his second highest donor. :p
Haha. He said he doesn't know who his donors are because "don't ask don't tell." Jenks' face there is priceless.
Jenks should have nailed him to the cross on that line. What a complete bullshit artist Manchin is. Slimy AF
This guy is incredibly representative of "a useful idiot". He's genuine in his waffling, obfuscation, and that's exactly why those big donors back him.
10:18 "You're showing me something I've never seen"
I just loled so explosively I spat all over my screen.
Give this man an oscar.
I just loled so explosively looking at YOUR comment that I spat all over MY screen.
The fact that Manchin doesn't know Cenk's name is hilarious.
Respect for Joe Manchin on coming on TYT. Obviously I don't agree with what he says, and he may be lying through his teeth. One could say he has balls.
Thanks for the interview though Cenk!
Sabre2Dance it's Jinx
lol, yeah! XD
You respect him for that? Really?
The bar is quite low for US politicians, I admit. :P But I would like to give credit where credit is due.
It is low because we allow it to be low. Joe is a liar. I have absolutely no respect for him.
Cenk: "Why not be a republican?"
-"I had great parents and grand-parents...."
Cenk:"Asenic in streams?"
-"I carry my fishing pole all the time"
Manchin mentions the British boy where the "government" decided whether he'll receive care, yet insurance companies determine healthcare for people in the U.S. based on profit.
"im gonna help people help themselves" is most republican talking point ever!
"I dont know who my top donors are" - Either you are shocking liar or an unbelievable incompetent.
Either way, you gotta go.
Great interview CENK. Manchin was as unimpressive as I thought he would be. He's a Republican
As a WV Democrat, please know that I can pronounce Cenk's name.
I never thought he'd have the balls to come on TYT. He still needs to lose in the primary but he does have a pair of balls.
I'm Canadian the only time I hear of other Canadians going to the US for healthcare is from American politicians, I'm sure it's happened but I've never met anyone whose done it.
Buddy St.Andrew I live in Windsor across from Detroit. ..no one goes to the US for care.
The only time it happens is because well Canada has fewer people than California, therefore, we have less specialist in certain fields and may require because of time to see a specialist in the States it is a question of specialist to population ratio. More people, more specialist it is just common sense.
hahaha ikr, I'm from Vancouver and I've never heard anyone going to US for healthcare wtf!
Buddy St.Andrew This is the guy who said that Canadians have to enroll in a health program in order to get their sp coverage. lol
Every time he said "Cenks" i took a drink. Room's spinning now
thanks Jenx.
Cenk: Would you consider yourself a progressive?
Manchin: Well, if you mean someone who espouses conservative values, then yes.
I love how blatantly he was trying to dance around that question. Did a shitty job doing so, though. It was outrageously transparent.
"I don't want to take a concrete stand on anything" that is what I heard Manchin say.
Start getting Jimmy Dore to do these interviews
Shea Ferguson
Lol, i like Jimmy but hed probably start spitting on him or beating him up
lmaoooooo
He'd be a great Republican.
Credit to Cenk for not correcting Manchin everytime he called he "Janks"
I´m with "Jenks", I find it really hard to believe that this guy doesn´t know who his donors are.
Who is this "Jenks" that Manchin is talking to??
During the last few seconds of the interview I realized that Mr. Manchin is doing this because he is spooked by his primary opponent. Be spooked Mr. Manchin. You're in trouble.
And she is awesome! And progressive! Paula Jean Swaringen (probably murdered the spelling) will be primarying this corporate tool.
Manchin is in no trouble. Don't waste any money supporting his opponent. Why do you want to hand a seat to republicans. A progressive democrat would get crushed in a general election. Manchin will get re-elected easily

I'm from the UK and that one child he's referring to isn't because it's a single payer system, he's trying to pull the wool over your eyes.

Because this baby can't move or show any form of emotion, there would be no telling if this little boy is suffering untold pain before dying as a result of this drug.
Scott Elias Thank you for the details.
Let's note that Joe wants you to believe that he doesn't know who's donating millions of dollars to him.
This is an awesome interview, what the mainstream media fails to do: Questions, answer without interruption, continue.
Cenk is a top notch interviewer politely persistent.
this guy sounds EXACTLY like a Republican
+Michael Babcock He also sounds very reasonable. Perhaps the "progressives" should listen to the moderates a little more and do less talking. The important thing is not necessarily which team you're on but which policies are the most effective.

Drinking game: take a shot every time he says "West Virginia", waterfall everytime he says "Jenks" and stop the next time he says "Jenks"
Send Help.
“Well lemme tell ya Cenks, I’m the emptiest suit in the senate. You can’t rely on me for anything.”
I guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me.
@Nixon Uriel Instablaster :)
"Cenks" face the whole interview is priceless. 😆
"I'm not pissing on your leg, that is rain Jenx."
bhahahaha
Whenever he claimed he doesn't know who funds his campaigns I couldn't help but scream.
OolTube02 me too. I'd like to punch him in his babbling mouth. Take him outside and set him straight like they do in West Virginia.
Same. Hard to take anything he says seriously after that. That's like somebody claiming they aren't sure who their employer is.
Cenk you are a saint for keeping your cool while being lied to and being called Jenks for half an hour
JAAAAANNNNXXXXX
Jenks alot for this interview!
"I do not know who my top donors are". Yeaahhh, sure... Well, I'm sure THEY know who they are donating to...
Joe Manchin why don’t you take out $5 million that you get from your coal business and give it back to your West Virginia people who could actually use it.
He's concerned but still manages to be on the wrong side of every issue
Joe"..to those that think I should be more liberal, I would like to say that I'm more responsible."
Ironic.
So the guy who takes no responsibility for who his donors are or how his votes have helped those donors, has the gaul to call liberals irresponsible? Someone's projecting.
Thanks for the interview "Janx" ^_^
Donating to Paula Jean RIGHT NOW
Thanks for having me Jenks.
He spends 3 months of the year dealing with his constituents and the other 9 months fundraising and he doesn't know who's giving to his campaign? RIIIIIIGHHHT!
Yea this guy is a moderate Republican... Please primary him
gothicalpha Republican? I wouldn't even consider him a rino...
Paula Jean 2018!
Jeans.
Jimmy Dore and Mike is gonna have a field day with this interview.
"I don't want to fired my co workers" you're gonna lose.
Man, he looked awkward and flustered most of the interview. There's no way Manchin would have done this interview if he wasn't scared of losing in a primary. Kind of satisfying to see him squirm.
Kinda annoyed Cenk didn't get him to stop mispronouncing his name over and over.
Who is Cenx?
That's who was interviewing Joes
Well like him or hate him, his pivoting and deflection skills are top notch
Eligio Benjume well he's a politician. That's a part of his job description
Cenk is so amazing. 😍
Jenks*
My Name CHUNK YOGURT.
Amazing! A successful politician who doesn't know where his campaign contributions come from. A rare bird, indeed!
Joes Manchins: *I have no idea who my top donors are*
Also Manchins: *Knows the cost savings to the US population from Mylan generics*
Any time anyone highlights "dark money" when talking about campaign finance reform, they're full of shit. "dark money" isn't the problem, money in general is the problem.
Too bad the interview wasn't with Jimmy Dore. Cenk was way too tame.
"I'm cons... I'm fiscally responsible and socially compassionate."
Meaningless BS. I don't know anyone from any party who doesn't make this claim. I did enjoy the slip of the tongue in the beginning though. Just admit you're conservative, man. You'll get more respect that way.
Yeah I caught that 😂
He talks a good story but when it comes to voting for change to help the people he votes the opposite of what he says.
cenk did a perfect job. he let joe talk himself out of office.
only children will be disappointed "why didnt cenk chokeslam him..SELL OUT!!"
Zac His wife pushed to get the epipens in schools, not to help kids, but to sell more of them.
Corruption runs deep in the whole family.
I don't believe for a second he doesn't know where his money is coming from.
Don’t ask don’t tell , just deposit the check ….
Excellent interview Cenk!
Drinking game: Take a shot every time Joe calls Cenk 'Janks'
I promise you'll end up very drunk.
julia mahoney I'm only six minutes in and I need someone to call an ambulance 😂
9:57 - He doesn't know who his donors are? Does he really think we're that stupid?
I smell bullshit....
Max Rockatansky Bernie is the only one who constantly brings up his donors. Maybe spend a littlr bit less time counting all the money you are robbing from your supporters and a little more time working. No other politicians love their donor as much as BS.
Joe Manchin has been sitting on top of the list of people i hate in politics for months now...
1. Manchin
2. Trump
3. Cruz
4. Graham
5. McConnell
No Sinema?
"I don't know who donates money to me. Do I think we should clean streams. Yeah. I fish, I fish so much I carry a pole in my car. A pole for fishing in water in west Virginia. Fish. I love fish. I keep in my car, who's named after a fish. Fish are important Janks."
Man, every time he calls him janks i cringe just a little. And he starts every answer by addressing him by name.
He kept calling him "Cenks"... wonder if it was on purpose lol
John Long totally on purpose...
There's a reason this guy is a Senator. Just listen to him blatantly lie throughout this entire interview, and you have to admire how smooth and polished he is. "Cenks." - Joe Manchin (D-WV), 2017
we need a secular talk segment on this
I am sure Kyle will have plenty to say about it.
I love how if you invoke Bernie Sanders' name, their knee-jerk response is , "He's not a Democrat", as if that is all that needs to be said to utterly discredit him.
DaveLH yeah. The democratic brand is disliked profoundly so it only helps him when they say he isn't a democrat
DaveLH Joe Manshit is not a democrat
"thanks jenks" lmao
Great interview, Janks =P. Seriously, the BS spewing thru my speakers was rage-inducing.
1:11 "I´m conssssFiscally responsible.."
hehe.. I was just listening and heard it through the rural nostalgia and white picket fences.
I thought 'Jenks' was a slip of the tongue when it happened the first time. But so far he seems to think that's his name, which is really quite fantastic.
Thanks for the interview, Cenks
He keeps calling him jinx. You'd think a politician would learn how to pronounce the name of someone he's going to interview with.
great interview JANKS
Okay so the interview JUST STARTED and already he's pissed me off. People should give back? You mean give back what little they've managed to hold onto after being taken advantage of by an abusive government and corporate establishment? Blame the victim then, he really is a republican. I hope Paula Jean wipes the floor with him.
Nova King I'm at 11 minutes and I don't think I push through this bullshit
He basically says that he's a Dem because it's family tradition. It has nothing to do really with ideals.
It's both scary and impressive.
at least he was on tyt. ill give him that.
Cristopher Valencia he did it so he could come on and BS his way, hoping to gain the support of a few TYT viewers in his primary
Cristopher Valencia He's afraid of getting primaried. TyT is lighting a 🔥 under his ass.
Don't insult our intelligence by saying you don't know who your top donors are. The amount of time legislators spend fundraising is sickening. Have enough integrity to be honest and own up to it, I could at least respect that much.
