The greatest Gary Numan song ever, it has everything and yes as others have said if you get the chance to see this absolute legend live then don't pass up the opportunity you won't regret it, remember he won't be around forever!
The ‘Gary mix’ of this song from Hybrid is the best version, in my opinion. A heartbreakingly sad song, you really feel his pain at his wife’s miscarriages.
A stunning live song. The original was written back in 2000 and is a very personal song hence some heartfelt lyrics. This version isn't Gary's original arrangement but I love both versions. Keep up the great work and more Numan whenever you feel like it!
Thanks guys. Just to give you some background to this song. Before Gary and Gemma had their 3 daughters Raven, Persia and Echo, they actually lost their first child. This song was written questioning what God is after the loss of her. It is regularly used in his live shows and can be quite emotional.
Loved your reactions to this great song. The synths, the key changes and when the drums kick back in. I just know your're feeling this song. Your pleasure in great songs makes me smile.
Wow! Finally, someone is doing a reaction to Gary Numan. Thank you!!! And you couldn’t have picked a better song. I’ve seen him perform this song live and it’s beyond amazing.
The lyrics are what make the song! It’s a tragedy. He’s singing about a lost child. He is cursing God. This song is so powerful and deep in emotion. As a Christian, it was hard to take in. As a father, I understand! Great song!!!
The lyrics to this sad but great song So, I prayed... But you weren't listening. Making miracles? So, I begged... But you were far away. Saving souls perhaps? So, I screamed... But she was very small And you have worlds to mend. So, she died... And you were glorious. But you were somewhere else. If you are my shepherd Then I'm lost and no one can find me. If you are my saviour Then I'm dead and no one can help me. If you are my glory Then I'm sick and no one can cure me. If you light my darkness Then I'm blind and no one can see me. If you are my father Then love lies abandoned and bleeding. If you are my comfort Then nightmares are real and deceiving. If you are my answer Then I must have asked the wrong question. I'd spit on your heaven If I could find one to believe in.
The guitar player is Mark Gemini Thwaite. I saw this tour. His regular guitarist, Steve Harris had to fly back to the UK for a family emergency. MGT has played with a lot of greats: The Mission, Peter Murphy and recently with Big Paul Ferguson of Killing Joke.
Brilliant song and live as in a studio performance. Fancy a proper live performance with full light show and audience? Then give this a go. Ginger will want to go see him even more. And Mike, you may just find another favourite. ruclips.net/video/nEVH1ASmw9U/видео.html
Hi you beautiful people 😁 This version is different from the (Pure) album original, but is the one he performs as a staple setlist regular year on year. It's a very personal song about the miscarriage of gary and Gemma's expected first born. I saw Gary's show in Manchester England in 2001 touring the 'Pure' album and he performed (the original) version of this. When he finished, there was an unearthly silence, probably more out of shock of him playing this given the subject matter of his recent heartbreak. Gary looked up and quietly said "Thank you" to the crowd who then went nuts ♥️
70's and early 80's were when music had reason, now it's all if you have a good voice talking about love lost as you were a muppet with a voice and self obsessed ....
If you both never heard the songs Halo (current version being played in concerts), Haunted and The Chosen, please listen to them and do a react. All with beautiful and deep sustained chords
Next week Gary is performing 3 very special shows in London. They will be his 998th, 999th and on Saturday his 1000th. So I thought you might honour this achievement by reacting to a song which he performed on his first show as Gary Numan and the one which kick-started his fame and was his first no.1 hit. No doubt he will play it on his 1000th too. This is a live version of ‘Are Friends Electric’ from his 2017 show at Brixton Academy. ruclips.net/video/SU0X1sMemYk/видео.html
Interesting. I'd like to suggest one that this song reminded me of: Saltatio Mortis - Spur des Lebens. ("trace of life") A lovely song, and despite the German lyric, I think you'd get the gist. "My trace of life, my little light in the wind Are you prepared for these times, my unborn child My trace of life, in this dark time My little spark of hope, my immortal piece"
Good song, straight from the heart. But to be honest, many fans of Gary (like me, I've seen him play live 59 times) are tired of him including this song at EVERY live appearance for over 20 years. Mix it up, Gary!
good music for dancing in a sinister club. how about eivors sister elinborg? she has this beautiful stripped down version of "sjórok" together with sway. the talent lies within the family, i would say
I used to like APTFU until he played it as part of an encore on every tour since Pure. It's become utterly tiresome and he doesn't even play his original version he uses Andy Gray's backing tracks.
He plays cars too often its that which needs chucking out of the set list, never liked that song. Of course tapes are used, it's electronica you'd need 50 synth players otherwise

When you really take in the lyrics to this it is utterly devastating. I've seen him cry whilst singing this, from the front row
Gary is on record stating that he doesn't think about what the song is about when he's playing it. If he did, he wouldn't be able to deliver it
@@ZOMM0 I've definitely seen him tear up, several times. He tries not to but often does, same with Lost

I listen to him, every day for the last 3yrs...
If you get a chance to see him live (he's touring) don't pass it up. I can't begin to tell you how amazing his live shows are.
he's about to tour the States with Ministry

They lost more than one child.

Love what you guys do...with love from the UK. You definitely need to see Gary live, he's an absolute legend.
He's about to celebrate is 1000th gig plus his daughter Raven will be bringing out an album
Tonight!
The lyrics to this sad but great song

I'd spit on your heaven
If I could find one to believe in.
Amazing guys, thank you. Please please do Gary Numan M.E live moshcam video next 🙏
Another Gary Numan classic.. I saw him do this Live when he opened for Nine Inch Nails on their Hesitation Marks tour.. It was Great!.
And a happy Birthday to Gary as well 🎂🎂
Loved it 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I have been to about 40 Numan concerts always a great gig he is brilliant
Prayer for the unborn is originally from the 2000 album pure as this mix is Andy grey mix from Hybrid album
finally fulfilled my dream of seeing him live...if you get the chance, do not miss it!
This song is from Hybrid...a double disc of remixed songs from his early career. If you liked this one, you should definitely check the rest.
Thanks Jon. I looked everywhere for this info - G
He did a lot with Tricky too, especially back around the early 2000s.

Great Numan gem... the latter period
Epic!

😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
The Replicas Live version is the best in my opinion. I’d try ‘The Chosen’ next, then ‘here in the black’. Both are epic.
Try Absolution... both the studio and live recordings are brilliant
You should listen to Gary numans Brother! Donovan Silver is his stage name!
It’s about Gary & Gemma losing their child 😢
If you both never heard the songs Halo (current version being played in concerts), Haunted and The Chosen, please listen to them and do a react. All with beautiful and deep sustained chords
I told you!

I thought latter years Bowie was crap but he’d be great singing this

This song is fantastic, although I have to say after seeing him in concert doing this song this wasn't even his best performance of this.
great track, but I personally prefer the album version...
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂

React to ima Tongi on American idol he did a cover to james blunt monsters
Please give your reaction to Vanny Vabiola's new cover song "Halo". 🙂
