Ive been a "Numanoid" since 1980. Gary really has had very different eras of his music. The late 70's (with Tubeway Army) is excellent, his early solo stuff, his struggles for identity through the 90's, and now since the mid 2000's he has been putting our some very good, heavy, darker music....and its mint! Lots of Gary to go through, I hope you enjoy all is decades as I do.
I've been a fan of Numan's since 1979 when I was in college, and I love the way he's progressed. I love his early work but I'm a megafan of his work since the late 90's. He's progressed SO much and has been such an influence on NIN, for one group.
Gary's style has evolved a lot and hes a badass. He did a really good live version of Cars with Trent Reznor from Nine Inch Nails. Also check out Metal by Nails or Numan
My wife has been a huge fan of Gary since she was 14. Went with her to see him live a couple of yrs back and he put on a spectacular show and converted me to a fan of his now.
I became a fan of Gary Numan in 1977 when Tubeway Army came out (In Cars). He matured into a master of synth shortly after that. Numan stands alone in the field of progressive electronic synth. So many artists were inspired by him. Look up 9 Inch Nails performance of In Cars with guest appearance by Numan. F'n awesome. The official video of this song is visuallly profound.
I'd definitely hold my parents largely responsible for my musical tastes, especially my dad. He's always loved industrial stuff, and Gary Numan is one of his old favourites. Funny thing is, I've spent the last year or so writing the same kind of music he raised me on. I may be 30 years out of date, but to me, industrial will always be the sound of the future 😆
@@helgemeyer9308 I know Gary Numan came along a good decade before NIN, and was one of their influences, but his early music is very different to the heavy industrial sound we hear here, a sound NIN honed and received the most success with. I just thought it seemed as if the influencer had become the influenced, which I find a very cool idea. I'm also pretty sure Gary and Trent are friends with one another, so I know their positive relationship goes both ways. Perhaps I am wrong though and Gary Numan made industrial music before NIN? I've only really listened up to his third album, Dance.
I have seen Gary Numan on that tour, his daughter accompanied him for the whole tour and came out on stage every night to perform this song. The whole concert was quite amazing, clearly one of the best industrial concerts I've seen in my life. I already told that in the past, but I'm not sure if it was on your channel: Gary Numan was one of the biggest inspirations for Trent Reznor when he started his career while Gary Numan quickly became a Nine Inch Nails fan right from the get go when he was introduced to their stuff. They got to know each other and became friends, performed together several times and now you clearly can hear that the newer Gary Numan songs are inspired by Trent Reznor. Amazing how music works, isn't it ? Check out more of Gary's songs, he has tons of great stuff. You can try either older songs like Cars, Metal, Are Firends Electric (by his old band Tubeway Army) or Down in the Park or newer stuff like I am Dust, Broken or Intruder. And those are just a few songs of his huge catalogue. This guy has been around since 1975 (with Tubeway Army), releases records under his own name since 1979 and he's still going strong.
I've seen NIN live many times if you think Numan's pseudo industrial noise is up there with the best of them then you haven't seen many bands live. NIN are the real deal Numan is a chancer.
Morning fellas! Man that was soooo goood! Their voices totally went so well together! I definitely hear some NIN sound there...(i loved that synth..too..)..great song for sure!great choice guys!🤓❤️
Gary and Trent are great friends. They’ve influenced one another since the 80s and have done multiple collaborations with each other. One of their first collaborations was the NiИ cover of Gary’s song “Metal”. Both amazing artists.
I saw another comment mention this song sounds a lot like NiИ. Gary and Trent are great friends. They’ve influenced one another since the 80s and have done multiple collaborations with each other. One of their first collaborations was the NiИ cover of Gary’s song “Metal”. Both amazing artists.🤘🏼
Are Friends Electric would be an excellent choice with Gary. Or why not try any of these: Styx - Witch Wolf Santana - Europa (from Moonflower please) Falco - Jeanny Bob Marley - Natural Mystic Fleetwood Mac - Hypnotized The Hives - Tick Tick Boom.... just saying 😉
My kids are a lot like me..they are very much into nature and connecting with the earth like i am. And my daughter loves rap music most and my son loves metal and likes rap..like their mom❤️
Barry Newman was in Vanishing Point (just passed away last month, apparently) … but Paul Newman, since you mentioned him, is one of my favorite actors. Cool Hand Luke and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof are great films 😊 Haha you made me think of Gene Simmons, when he had that reality show and his kids were always making fun of him. Like, “you’re not some huge rock star, you’re just dad” 😆
I was the same as teen - tried to learn songs and text and write a lot in my lexicon book :) This is the time of your life when you explore the world and try to understand and take place in, you just want everything :)
This is a newer song of his, that she performed with him and is in the music video. Next live show with Gary Numan in it, NIN performing their cover of Metal, with Gary on stage with them: ruclips.net/video/ehMqEXUspfs/видео.html

If only people knew more widely his amazing music....
This is amazing live but the music video is amazing too!!! Also, all of his girls are beautiful!! My mom wasn't really into music. She had 3 8-tracks. Willie Nelson, KC & the Sunshine Band and a Christmas album. I listened to KC non stop. As I grew up I listened to more music on my own but it wasn't until I met my husband when I was 18 that I REALLY got to know songs and bands and stuff. Our upbringings were so different in so many ways, they say opposites attract and it's true.. when he was a kid he traveled almost the entirety of the continental US with his dad, who was in a band, so he literally grew up with music. So, when we had kids I made sure that they knew music. We have a radio channel that tells you the song after it plays and I was constantly asking them "can anyone tell me who sang this?" and sometimes I didn't know or wasn't sure so after the song, they'd announce it. One thing my husband and I did have in common is we're both pretty artistic, and really only 1 of our 3 kids are really interested in doing any kind of art.
I saw him live last month at the Electric Ballroom in Camden and he was great; I've been a big fan since the late 70's. Raven is now an adult and did her own set as the support
Pick any of these albums, "Pure", "Jagged", or "Exile"-you won't believe how good they are. They ain't no "Cars" MFer in here. Taught Reznor everything he knows. And ironicially, he would have retired were it not for Depeche Mode's "Violator" and Numan's wife. Funny how things go.

Yes he sure is the artist who brought cars out in 1979, 1987, 1996 he is the artist who has same song in three separate decade's it was also brought out 1993 a different version. Plus he also was a guest on the fear factory version of cars in the video.
I played bass for about 20 years and only dabble in it now. My hobby is electronic music which I make with different software on my iPad. She had apparently recently purchased a used vinyl of the Paranoid album. Heheh

More accurately his early music was dark. His newer music is more overtly dark. It’s nice and heavy.
He’s still got it.
This is a bloody great album.. all his more recent work has had this vein of industrial shadow running through it.. he's so good in this lane.
I'm 60 years old here and Gary is still relevant. God Bless.
His daughter was 11 years old when they shot this.
Gary was a mentor to Trent when 9 inch nails was recording thier 1st LP.
Gary Numan is great. He's always wanted to help other artists make it big.
That was his daughter Persia performing with him. His daughter Raven also sings and recently performed with Persia.

Next song by Gary Numan Are Friends Electric??? A great song live. ❤ Or, to get a ‘two- for’ Nine Inch Nails and Gary Numan performing ‘Cars’ live ❤❤❤

Numan even?
I adore that upload. They just loved Gary. Thanks for mentioning it.

Absolutely he did cars!
I've still got the original vinyl single!
Hey.... I am 53yrs old! 😂😂😂😂
I follow Gary on Instagram & it's endearing how close that family is.
Same voice from the 80s, awsome, you do need to check out some of his early stuff,
She hits much higher notes easily in the full version of the song. I think she was also like eleven when the song was recorded. Gary Numan is awesome
Gary had no business going that hard with that middle eastern melody and I love him for it!
I'd definitely hold my parents largely responsible for my musical tastes, especially my dad. He's always loved industrial stuff, and Gary Numan is one of his old favourites. Never really listened to Gary Newman other than "Cars" but, this song was pretty darn cool! I'ma have to check out more of his stuff! 💙👊🏼
Numan.....
Check out his songs Down In The Park and The Fall
His first albums are great.
He's been steadily releasing great music coming up on 50 years in 2027.. you got a lot of catching up to do
This is my first experience of a non-80s Gary Numan song, and I love it. Very industrial NIN sounding. I gotta check out his newer discography!
NIN hat sich Numan zum Vorbild genommen. Nicht umgekehrt. Numan hat Ende der 70er angefangen...
