I'm not really a fan of rap music but I was a casual fan of DMX. One of very few rappers I actually listened to. He had a signature rasp to his voice and delivered his lines with a desperate aggression that stood out to me. His music could definitely get you hyped.

He did. The hood loved X and everywhere he went, we showed him so much love. I met X twice, after a show in Seattle, he took the time chop it up with me and brother. Second time he came to Tacoma in 2018 and was walking around no security just a couple of cats who are good out here. He was going the whole town showing mad love and receiving mad love back. He was at the Malls, Barbershops, on the block, came to the popular but ratchet club and to top it all he was in the after hours spot 4am, no police around at all. It was a crazy frenzy but it felt good to see how much love X got. I hope he knew. Tacoma will forever love X for how he came out here and allowed us to interact with him.

I think that goes without saying, DMX is one of those artists where if he's featured on a song, his verse isn't long enough. But because the industry works in such a way that a feature won't get a longer verse than the artist who actually wrote the track, his verses will never be long enough. He certainly does hype a track up though
