this song randomly coming back to life on social media was one of the best things ever. the nostalgia is INSANE

Agreed! 🙌🏻😄 just heard it in a random Instagram post and came here to to hear three full version again 🥰

I bought the album in 1990 and 33 years later it’s still one of the greatest music albums of all time ❤❤❤❤
There’s just something special about this song. It just tickles your nostalgia for the ancient past that you never experienced.
Of course
the pan flute and the ancient inca empire bro
@@cheesyrichard no I mean like an ancient past with monks and shit.
Heck, I was around and lucid in the 90s which is why I even watch Enigma videos.

Thank you hink hall🙏
@@hinkhall5291 I'm Peruvian and I totally got you brother. This doesn't give me Incan vibes at all, but rather a much older time, where the crusades were happening, when South America was still mostly separated cultures.
My mom passed away in January.. she put up one hell of a fight with uterine cancer, unfortunately the cancer won in the end. My mom played Enigma the whole time i was growing up.. it was her feel good music which in turn became my feel good music. I played the whole album for her on her death bed. She was comatose in the end, but i know she heard it. I'm hoping she left her earthly body soothed with the beauty of her favorite sounds. Oh i miss my mom so much, this magical music will forever keep her memories alive in my heart and soul.
I'm so sorry.

God Bless You
I’m so sorry about your mom.. you did such a beautiful thing by playing her favorite sounds ❤️

You know how hard it is to find a song when you don't know the artist, title, or lyrics??? I just remember it from my childhood
Yes. I was in same situation too !! But now fortunately Shazam help !
I Googled "Early 90s Gregorian pop song" and it came up immediately. XD.
Same
I found it just now after over 15 years and just like you I didn't know anything about this
I was playing world of warcraft and asked people in game for the name you know how silly it is to ask for people for name of song by typing sigh tee doh, sigh tee waa.... that's all i remembered. luckily some guy told me to go to /Redit Tip Of My Tongue. i asked my question there and recorded me humminn it out and the freakin guy had helped me lol bad ass thank god for reddit lol
Every 90's kid know this song by heart and by memory how Gregorian choir and french edm made a pair that no one knew could be done etching an unforgettable era nostalgia and childhood memories! Only from Enigma
Völlig einverstanden mit Ihnen. Allerdings wird Gregorians als Band oft mit Enigma zu verwechselt.
Oh my God. This is 2024!!! Just happened to come across this amazing Enigma song from my youth days at Varsiity. This is TIMELESS. Catholic Gregorian Chant fused into soul music - creativity at its best. Brings back memories❤❤ ❤❤

The fact that Enigma were able to take Gregorian Chant and make it mainstream with their fusion of it and electronic synth was nothing short of genius.
Kopp203 that's true
This touches my soul
I thought of exactly the same thing. Could it be more genius? No.
They are extremely underrated!!!
Gregorian can't be a chant, Gregorian is a middle age epoch depending on pope Gregor I. This is Latin, come to Germany, hear spoken modern Latin and see all these wonderful gothic churches here of the Gregorian age. Feel the power of these churches just being in, indiscribable. The Cologne cathedral is called one of the most spirutually places in this world. I am not that religious, but for sure something is there, you can feel it obviously standing there.
Still today: "In Nomine Christi, Amen" (means "in the name of Christ, forever is God's word) closes catholic preaches in German churches. You're welcome!

I spent more than 7 years of my life trying to find this song just to find out my mom has their entire discography at home. Transcendental and totally magical nevertheless.
oh no, that is wayyy too long. Hahaha
For whatever reason this melody just popped into my head without one bit of lyric nor any idea what the artist or song title was. And all I did was start the googlemachine with: "90s song monastry choir pop" and bingo, here I am. What were you looking with all that time??
@@memento81 that was definitely a great way to look for it haha! english is not my first language and during those 7 years i was really young and definitely had no idea it was from the 90's, nor knew what a monastry was, so i was always searching something really dumb along the lines of "church song that goes like tanananananananana" in my native language. of course it never worked. gor really shocked when i got home one day to my mom vibing out to it in the living room though! to this day i'm really glad i found it because the melody haunted me for quite a long time, i thought i had just imagined it playing on the radio and it didn't even exist in the first place lol
i only had to search in yahoo answers ''what's the name of the song sung by monks?''
Better late than never. Welcome
Me too I find this song few years 😂

One of the greatest compositions of the 20th century, absolutely fantastic!
Two important things. Primo: Enigma's debut album "MCMXC A.D." is entirely gapless and haven't silence breaks between tracks. Secundo: "MCMXC A.D." is also video album, with conjoined music videos for all tracks. That video album can replace audio only version.

My late “Great Uncle” Salvatore was very progressive with music and is actually the person who introduced me to this song and Enigma. Being he was a pianist, he had many friends that were Keyboardists and on the forefront of electronic music. I was amazed that someone born in the 1930’s would even be interested in this kind of music in 1990, but I’m glad he was… here I am commenting on this song in 2024.
I first heard this song on the radio in 1996, and was absolutely mesmerized. I kept trying to find out who it was because I thought it was the most amazing thing I ever heard at the time. Finally, they mentioned the artist after the song one time. I bought the first 2 Enigma albums next chance I got, and loved them both (still do). I've since gotten the DVD of the first album, which plays like an extended music video of the entire album - I highly recommend it if you can still find it. Anyway, I was fortunate that Enigma 3 came out just before Christmas that year, so it was definitely on my Christmas list. The first and third are still my favorites, with the second one being my third favorite. I loved the Gregorian chant samples on 1& 3, and in fact, got interested in Gregorian chant music because of Enigma.

90’s trippin balls music but yet some of the best baby makin music 💖💖💖
My mom used to play this when I was a kid, and for some reason this song scared me.
Alex Soto thank you! I tought i was the only one! :D
haha same but my father play
It's quite haunting, but i love it
It's a gorgeous song , but thanks - The Devil.
It's demonic music that probably explains why
This music should have crossed over 5 to 7 billion views as of now. this is a great gift of 90's. Love Enigma from India.
Love all their albums xx
Such an AMAZING song. I listened to enigma all thru my teens. Helped me through some tough times. 30yrs on, still love this ❤
Brings a lot of memories back from 1990: leaving my first Navy duty station and being sent to the fleet to participate in Desert Shield/Desert Storm. I had this album on cassette and played the hell out of it. It kept me company as I traveled from Oregon to Yokosuka, Japan and then, a month later, from Japan to Bahrain (with a stop for a week at a small atoll called Diego Garcia, where I was about 10,000 miles from home). Lots of stress, but good music helps lower it.
That’s amazing man!
Same here . I was in the Navy back in 90 when this song was out . Had to buy the cassette tape
Wow cool to read ! I bet so many of us have different memories of where we were and feeling when we all heard this song. Almost magical !
Thanks for your service ..... My son just got his 1st duty papers. Just finished A school. #Hooya#navy
@@mandigirl0815 Thanks for your kind words. And congrats to your son! What 'A' school is he attending?
Over 46 million views as of April 25 2021. This song is loved by people worldwide, across all time.
Make that statement when it surpasses 1B views otherwise it’s inaccurate.
@@dragonknightofamiraka3636 what an idiotic statement

I am on Camino Santiago right now. In the Chester Roncevalles i‘ve been awakened by Gregorian chant sounds. Then i‘d immediatly reminded me of Enigmas Sadeness Track. Now i can’t get out of my head. Timeless and wonderful 🥰
Who’s here with me 2024 🥲🔥

Absolutely! Has a bit of a trend on Tiktok currently
It's hard to find peace in this world yet this song is where I feel peaceful and can calm my mind. Thanks to the artist.
Agreed 💯 % 👌
Oh. My. God. This song had totally vacated my brain until now. Incredible how a simple beat and a few words can take you back to your childhood.
👌2024 here. I found this from that PURE MOODS infomercial that I always heard and seen on tv for like 10 years 😆 Now I finally seen this for the FIRST TIME after all these years. And I gotta say some stuff. At the first minute and a half I said to myself could you check off more 90’s tropes for not only filming style but editing in both the video and all in the first minute and a half 😆 wow bro… this thing is a damn time capsule piece. I really loved it up to the point where the nostalgia made me sad… 🌹 This was something else. Definitely a trip.
Just wow.
