It's hard to believe the footage and the song was released in late 1965 and it sounds like a psychedelic nugget. A lot of people rightfully cite Rubber Soul as the first album with psychedelic elements but in a lot of ways the Charlatans beat the Beatles to it.
(w/a tip to the Dead ) Besides Sly & the Family Stone & The Flamin' Groovies, for my ears the Charlatans were one of the best San Francisco bands. Great footage. A time when San Francisco had a great vibe, people had welcoming attitudes, rents were cheap, & creative people lead much of the way. Really San Francisco's first "Psych Rock" band. All they needed was a hit...never happened, things may have been different.

The Charlatan's were the seed. This song usually went on a lot longer live.
