You just earnt yourself a new subscriber after 2 days of watching your videos. Im learning how to make realistic models and came to your channel by trying to find out how to make realistic grass 😂 Great job they all look amazing!
thanks for the video, it was really inspiring. at the end i followed a different process but it was inspired but this video, for example: - cutting the bases, that was the same and also adding a extra level with some foam. - then i didnt use mache paper, but i got some pieces of cloth with cast, the ones that they use when you get hurt. - then painted on top with a thick paste, i had 3 colors (gray, green, brown) - then add the grass, snow, etc. it worked great, my friends loved it, my little daughter helped me, it was like a family project.
Watching this made me realise what I didn't like about my own bases when I used the base ready stuff. Couldn't put my finger on it until I realised I used black on the base as part of the painting of the whole model, it looks odd coming through the base ready stuff, such a small thing but I think it'll make a massive difference.
Oh man those classic slayer miniatures - so much character and by the time you got the the Daemon slayer he was a truly intimidating mini whereas the troll slayers just looked like trainee slayers. Great vid.
Hi Luke, I love your channel. I stick the plaster rocks down with the modelling compound and it seems to work for me. I smear a thin layer of PVA onto the rock and where i am sticking it to ( just to strengthen the bond up a little ) then add thick layer of the modeling compound and slap the rock on.
Great video for dioramic basing, thank you! Have some Impetus basing that I do currently, and my process is very simple, although might use your method when I do a different army at some point, thanks a bunch!
A great tutorial! I was wondering if the metal slayers would be secure enough when transporting around? This is the only thing stopping me multibasing, the thought of pinning everything.
Some model railroaders wet the back of the molded rocks with water. They then place it in the wet plaster or sculptimold. It sorta of bonds to it. Would your modeling compound work like that also? It could eliminate the epoxy step.
I do the same. Drives me bonkers when someone keeps literally everything. I have friends who keep all trash and even shavings from metal and plastic... Bunch of craft hoarders...
if you still want the instant bond of hotglue with the strength of epoxy. rim the peice with epoxy leave a gap in the center and then put your hot glue here. it holds while the epoxy sets up and no shifting
So I am very new to basing. I noticed you have a wire clip when adding you grass? Could you be so kind as to explain what you are doing? What is it connected to? etc? Thank you so much!
Where do you get your Kings of war base MDF from, looks pretty thick, more-so than the standard stuff i buy. You'd have to go thicker right with the wight? ... Also, do you have any plans to sell these in the future - or even just the mdf cut to size so we can all create our own? - Your videos give me great enthusiasm until i realize I'd have to paint an entirely new army :D
Great job as always mate, question about clear fix, I picked some up and I've used it a few times but always seem to get bubbles and since it's thinned with iso I can't really use a torch haha. Any tips? Cheers!
Amazing bases! May I ask for a link to the 5-minute epoxy resin that you use to stick the plaster rocks? Would you also be able to use a strong tacky PVA glue to do this job? Sorry I am a complete beginner with all this. :)
Hi Luke, as many times before I really like the subject and the way it turns out. Your timing is also right on spot as I am building a couple of boxes Mantic skeletons (infantry) to be placed on diorama-like multi bases. I do have a question that I would like to ask you (or other KoW players) before I go crazy on this: As I have never played Kings of War I am wondering how a troop (or regiment or horde...) is build up. Do I have to combine spearmen and swordmen or keep them on seperate multi bases or can I do whatever I like? This might be a bit off topic, but I love these mini diorama's and would like to create something beautiful AND playable :) Thanks!
you've sold out of the Mitre Fast accelerator I've been after some for a while. I'd rather buy stuff from yourself to help keep the site going but there's a lot of stuff that's been sold out for a long time and not restocked
@@GeekGamingScenics Hi Luke any idea when you get in the quick easy realistic reeds as I could do with two boxes of these. I would prefer to a large order as it saves on the postage. And having done loads of these reed by hand I would rather gouge my eyes out with a rusty nail than make more of them! God they are boring to make!
Hello Luke! I did this tutorial, but my mdf (3mm. kings of war ¨legion¨ sizes) bases has bend when dry. ¿can I fix it?. My bases bent from corners, up, so now a belly contact with the table. Thanks!
Love it.. Going to try the clear fix /iso approach next time I do my ice bases.. I currently use resin and poke broken bits in to replicate ice (your winter dio vid).. Would this work the same? I'm guessing faster lol .. @seth_waves
I have never understod how to glue models on a finished base. How does the models stick with such an uneven surfare with the Grass and rough sand etc? Seems so fragile.
Have to take into account the fact that if you make sure no bits are poking out of the perimeter of the base that they arnt really getting interfered with like a single model on a fitting base does. You don't pick up the regiment by the minis. You just grab the base
Man I know you have your store, but this becomes just a commercial ad honestly did you count how many times you say “buy it in my shop”. You used to do real informative videos. Now ir’s like sounding all about your shop. Just listen to the last sentense has 4 times the word shop in it. Ok i am out

So many gems on a single video, I am truly impressed, amazing and realisitc details!
I like the sort of non-feck givin vibe of the whole video.
No fecks were harmed during the making of this video :D
I’d love to see ALL the slayers on their new bases. Bet they’d look great

Dude I am speechless. That looks so good.
Each video just gets better!

Thank crhist someone else throws out scraps.
90% can be trashed but that 10%... Probably something useful. Not always though but sometimes...

Lovely job mate, very quick and easy with the drying times you have

I seriously need some of your modeling compound. Gonna check out your shop soon! Amazing as always! You're seriously my terrain hero!
mother of god, this looks so good. seriously mirin your work

Man I was holding out for the final money shot with all the models. I feel cheated! Haha excellent as always, Luke.
I'm guessing that will be up on Friday when he shows the finished work on the water.

Incredible video, so many hot techniques. What MDF do you use? Any problems with it warping with the amount of liquid that gets put on it?
Really good efforts boss keep it simple sir, (kiss) legend.

Absolutely love these. Brilliant!
The slayers of the hilly meadows!
I might have missed it, but do you spray the entire thing once complete with a sealant? If yes, what do you use? Cheers 🍻
Lukes Aps varnish... I mean I have the pva glue, but what type of varnish, what brand what what ratio between the three?

rewatching this video for third edition!
How many takes did you do of that opener? Coz i would of lost my stuff a few times trying to do that 😁
Omg, the figures at ~16 minutes. What are those called? They look so cool :)
They are Citadel Dwarf Slayers (available in Troll Slayer, Giant Slayer and Demon Slayer variants) from Games Workshop.

Hi Luke,
Great video as always! What "static grass gun" You use?
Are those dwarf slayers? Really wanna track down those minis for a diorama
"We're going to put Bill Cosby down... don't tell your mum!"
Was there a reason for adding the minis before applying the water effect?
Great job!
what is the gator clip attached to the wire for? when you were applying the grass/mose

what type of wood u used for these bases? seems they aint gonna bent with this white thingie on the back. cheers
Stunning bases! Love 'em!!! :)
Awesome vid! Thanks for posting :)
Thanks Luke .
Hi Luke, what are the bases made of please
Nice intro.
Any problem with the bases warping?
Cracking video
That Luke Towan flip is harder than he makes it look! 😂
Where do you get your wooden bases cut for KOW fella?

If you use foam flock it's pretty secure with gel super glue

Lukes Aps vids are great, getting some fantastic tips thanks, will put an order in now.....
Who the hell makes bases with tuna mayonaise?
Don't forget to pull out and spray on the bush.
9:40 wet your fingers and get in there ... :D
Thats the homemade sculpitmold
Can you legally have knives to cut the foam though?
a bit crap and a lot awesome
"Again, we're gonna be f***ing this"
nothing against you but you should warn people these are going to be some heavy bases
Are you high? Askin for a friend 😄

Why is creepy momo showing on the thumbnail for this vid on RUclips?
Caching issue. It was originally in the thumbnail for a goof but RUclips couldn't handle the spice
you need to go to the dentist
