    The CB50R has the exact same head as the cb50v / w (also with the 18mm inlet). you can check this be comparing the items codes (they are the same). The 50r has different camshafts and is fitted with a PC20 carb.

    • @VintageGarageYT
      @VintageGarageYT  Год назад

      Ah didnt know the blok itself was the same.
      Finding cb50r cams is pretty hard though 😭

    What about change the cog what on the chain goes on how many teeth has the front cog got mate and how many teeth has a black cog on the back wheel to mate ? Would it help the ratio

    • @VintageGarageYT

      Probably, maybe it is producing more power, but because of the gearing it doesn't really show, also thought about that

  • @kldd-bu1dx
    @kldd-bu1dx Год назад

    I was wondering is you also modified the insulator between the carb and the intake? The original insulator has a diameter of only 16.5mm so if this is not modified the bigger carb won't do much. I'm planning to do a test with the original 50R carb (PC20) and see what this will do. For test if want to modify the insulator and taper the intake to fit the PC20 Carb.

    • @VintageGarageYT
      @VintageGarageYT  Год назад

      I checked it and thought it was the same diameter as the intake? Or maybe it has been modified before. Would have to recheck it
      Definitely let me know what kind of difference a PC20 makes!

    Off topic:
    On a ape50 I gained 2000 rpm (8.6k -> 10.6k) by going from the original 13mm to a pz22(18mm) shengwey keihin copy with fitting manifold. This still connected to the original filter and housing.

    • @VintageGarageYT

      That's a massive gain! On the Dream it didnt change much. I would even think the original carb gets a bit more torque down low.

      @ClassicTrialsChannel 5 месяцев назад

      @@VintageGarageYTthe Smaller carb will be better at low revs.
      It's always a balancing act. More top end at the expense of bottom end power or better bottom end, but lose at the topend.

    How big is inlet bore?
    If smaller with a step then it wont work as well. But for decent power 18mm is still small.
    I think there is a choice of cam?
    For it to make use of 4 valves (?) Get a bigger inlet and fit a 24-28+.
    The 50cv race bikes h used 28 mm in 2 strokes and 4 strokes use bigger ones usually.
    Bit of a gimmic the dream,,50....
    Should be making 10+bhp! At 15000 rpm!

    • @VintageGarageYT
      @VintageGarageYT  Год назад

      Inlet is 18mm, casted into the head, so in order to get more out of it I would either need a new head or change this one, which I wont be doing.
      The dream50R has a bigger inlet, 6 speed and a bigger carb from the factory, I think those actually make close to 10hp

    Ich ersetze es durch Keihins pc28, aber der Ansaugkrümmer ist aus Harz, daher kann ich mich nicht für die Einstellung entscheiden. Außerdem wird der Kraftstoffverbrauch schlechter und die Geschwindigkeit und Leistung ändern sich nicht. Ich kann nicht sagen, dass normal das Beste ist, aber ich denke, es wäre dumm, Hondas Meisterwerk zu modifizieren. Als Japaner bitte. Bitte fahren Sie im Normalmodus herum.

      I wouldn't call testing a carburator stupid. It's not like I'm hurting the engine or doing something irreversible. There is nothing wrong with doing some small tests.
      But if you are wondering, the original carburator is back on the bike.
