Thank you BallIsLife for making this video!
I'm a big fan on NY streetball and want RUclips to have more videos like this
Yo bro I was at a camp called NYC basketball kids and u put on a dunk show for us, I'll never forget it, thank u so much.
Damn, I see a whole bunch of out of towners already talking shit about New York lol. Understand something, we not talking about NBA talent, we talking about regular dudes that are good at basketball. When NBA dudes go to Rucker or dyckman, these regular dudes be putting in work against them, show and prove. A lot of pioneers of certain play styles are from New York. Shamgod, pee wee Kirkland, earl manigoat, Kareem Abdul jabbar, streetball legends like rafer Alston. Basketball is a way of life here, to the point that we meet some of our closest friends thru the game. That's why New York is the Mecca of basketball, there's a court almost everywhere. Ball is truly life over here 💪🏾💪🏾🏀🏀
this is all hype and propaganda...NY hasn't been a basketball mecca for decades...the true basketball mecca on planet earth is on the West Coast...in the last 30 years, Los Angeles and the greater L.A area has produced the most NBA players of any region on planet earth ...if anyone disagrees with me feel free to respond...but keep in mind, i got facts and data to back up my claims...
Ivan Sabess Respect ✊ 💪🏽💯from a true baller!
@@conni70 that doesn't make it the mecca cause it produces NBA players. NY still the Mecca of Basketball and y'all can stay mad
@Jamal Vines still the mecca🤷
@Jamal Vines you still mad?
Nyc is the Mecca for Streetball, fashion & hip hop etc..... I’ve been going to Rucker park since 1987... when it was real... when the college ball players & nba ball players was out there playing 4 real and the Streetball players was giving the business.... names like John Morton , Rambo smiley,, Pookie MVP Wilson ,, MasteR Rob,, Malik sealy,,Chris brooks,, Malloy the future,,Dancing Doogie, Terminator , moe black,, Richie Adams ,, Kevin Williams ,, steve Burrt SR, John Strickland,,Tip dog , mike boogie , Camron ,, Kerry Thompson ,, Speedy ,, Troy truesdale ,, Skip 2 my Lou,, D.Mack ,, Alimoe ,, Conrad McRae , Karlton Hines,, Dave Edwards ,, List goes on and on... but you gotta know your history and be a student to the game...I was there , seen it ..
Been a long time since I played in NY. What I remember is you've got to take it to the hoop. Jumpers are nice but respect comes in the lane. Loved the clip. Brings back a lot of memories of not having any money but just looking for a place to play.
No free throws neither.
I'm from California(The Bay Area), and I played my juco ball in NYC. I've lived in the Bronx and Harlem. I've gotta say that the energy, excitement, and passion that New Yorkers have towards basketball is not something that you see often here in Cali. The outdoor basketball tournaments are literally a spectacle. With the weather we have here, I wish we had that outdoor culture. Another thing I love about the vibe in New York is that your game speaks louder than your name. Even if you are a "nobody", you can still do work on the court and earn your cred. I don't know that producing more NBA players alone, is a accurate measure of talent or basketball culture overall. NBA players are more the outliers in this argument. Without doubt the NYC/NJ tri-state area is at least on par if not higher than the California per capita, overall with producing high level players(college, overseas pros etc). I love my state, but I gotta call a spade a spade when it comes to overall basketball culture.
Impeccably stated, RN. I'm from Harlem. Brothers from all over the country are dynamite ball players - can't take shit away from brothers in any other state. Just that there's that extra touch of stardust when the game is played in the City.
Raghav Narasimhan impactful words, appreciate your insights brotha. 100% agree on all points. I grew up a 2hr drive from NY, here in Connecticut basketball is HUGE (Uconn, etc), but there’s really nothing like the vibrance of NYC basketball.
ok, let's call a spade a spade....on this day, the 5th of Dec, 2018, Los Angeles native Russell Westbrook passes California native Jason Kidd for the most triple doubles in NBA history, while his Los Angeles native teammate, Paul George scores 47 points...meanwhile , L.A's native son DeMar DeRozen scores 32 points against his childhood team, and another L.A native and MVP front runner Kawhi Leonard scores 36 points to lead his team to victory...NYC gets way too much hype , when in fact Los Angeles and the greater Los Angeles area is the most talent rich basketball region on planet earth. the numbers prove it...and your " per capita" argument doesn't hold weight...NYC has a bigger black population than L.A, and most NBA players are black...so there you go..
@@conni70 NY has a longer history than La. With people like Kareem and Dr. J. LA is more recent.
I'm from New York and it makes me happy to see something like this
God Shammgod Wells.
Best. Ball player. Name. Ever.
A-butta's teeth are straight butta. Yellow as shit 😂
Nabeel Ahmed lmaooooooooooo yo your comment got me dying
The truth is there are many meccas of basketball around the USA. NY has it's pride and love of the game but there are courts in Philly, Chicago, Indiana, Oakland, LA, etc... Basketball is an American game and there are great games all over the country. NY has it's basketball culture which is full of passion, fans, and players but other places have just as much make no mistake about it. It may be a different vibe than NY but they turning out players and pros no doubt.
I used to play down there out of CT!!! They go hard in NY. I was down on 4th. It's real down there!!! No foul calls some games!!! You call to many fouls they will make you sit down right in the middle of the game!!!
*I SWEAR I COULD WATCH THESE SERIES ALL DAY LONG* !!!!
NYC LOOKS AWESOME!!! Hope God gives me an opportunity once to travel to this beatiful city!
It's truly an amazing city fam. I hope you could visit one day too
I live in Europe, Germany..

Ball is LIfe Cardio
Ball is LIfe I'm saying bro I'm really tryna get a scholarship
About to hit 1 mill subs! Congrats fammo!
Wow, Smush Parker. There's a name I haven't heard in a while.
Thank you !
Rucker is terrible now. Dyckman and gersh the wave.
Theballer yea Rucker def not lit like it use to be. Now it’s mostly dyckman, Gersh and pro city is the place to play.
NYC streetball is on a decline period as far as quality players from 2008 until now its been downhill for rucker, procity, tsc, west 4th etc.
@@eibb5136 ball in general. I can drive to 3 parks in my area that used to be very popular and now they're like ghost towns. I honestly miss "yo, you want to get a game?"
@@bakurawthesupersaiyanhair937 facts. Even here in Detroit streetball dead and it's sad. 20 years ago you could drive down any residential street and find a game. Now everyone just fiended out
RUclips home page is getting better. It's going to be a beautiful day today 👀
That moment when you get a notification about a new upload but you gotta fucking work on your schools exam... ;(
If I'm not mistaken, I think that was Foamer Simpson catching that behind the back pass for the two handed dunk!
NYC in building
Yesssssssssss b-ball vibes
I'm born in Georgia, but when it comes to hoops, NYC is the best especially up in HARLEM!!!
Thank you ballislife sorry bout the argument last week 🤷🏽♂️😂
Ball is lifeeee🏀🏀🏀
aaron Parker that's right 🏀🏀🏀
come to chicago
Los Angeles , Ca is the true basketball mecca on planet earth...
NY is not Mecca either. LA has produced superstars like James Harden, Kawhi, Klay Thompson, Reggie Miller. Meanwhile NY hasn’t produced a single superstar in recent history. The only name I can think of is Kemba and he’s not close to any of the guys I just mentioned.
Nothing compares to some good ol Colorado streetball if there even is streetball anywhere in colorado
Ball IS LIFE!
you say it!
Real takl real streetball salute my Brotha 🇧🇷
There is nothing like New York...basketball
exactly...nothing is as overrated as NY basketball

The Mecca of basketball is obviously Sydney, Australia
ha ha, good one....but all jokes aside, the true basketball mecca on planet earth is Los Angeles, CA...
How y'all got all these people but managed to miss the newest and biggest thing out of NY in Jelly fam? 🤔

How Ballislife gonna spell Shammgod's name wrong.
Why is EBro on Here hes from the west coast and he sounds like it

Ballislife should make a video called Stories of Gang Legends From The True Hood of Gangs | Heart of The Hood: Compton Police vs Crips
Chicago got the best hoopers in the country, we coming at yo neck out here and we got the skills, toughness and IQ 💯
King JA stop
King JA Nyc and Chicago have a similar style because that toughness we have 💯
U right, I’m from Bmore and I’ve played all over as a youngster and just watching ball across this country the Chi produce the best ballers hands down.
@@dandafitness1109 new York city has the most basketball play grounds in the nation that's why 🏙️🗽NYC is the mecca of basketball hands down the chi is just one city NY you have Brooklyn, Harlem the Bronx queens and you can't forget Staten island.... I'm from queens and we got great players that played in the NBA from here
@@dandafitness1109 everytime Chicago teams come to play in nyc summer leagues or big time events they lose.
Gltt gang best place to play ball u feel me and that's a fact
I thought that was Dennis Rodman in the thumbnail
A-Butta needs A-Toothbrush
If u never ran at The Ruck, don’t speak on it. That’s all there is to it 🤫
Y'all only saying Cali cuz of the NBA players.. that play in the tournaments.. ... NYC we don't care about your name ... bring your game and show n prove .... NYC is the Mecca of basketball since the 60s ..
SMUSH PARKER?? Lol.. cmon ballislife
dude is better than 90% of the population when it comes to ball. dont think because didn't really do shit in the nba hes not nice he would give most people buckets.
True True true but if theyre trying to bring respect to the Mecca of Basketball, maybe they should have someone better than Smush Parker.
True True he is more like better than 99.8 % of the population
He made it to the NBA, how many legends didn't???
You need to play against him, I bet you will change your tune quickly.
Ball is life can y'all come to my by block
7:10 guys close your eyes... Hov is that you?
bball is
2000 Subs Away!
Who came from jesser
Do more!!
so they will not draft a player from the park and that means there is a monopoly on basketball and all sportsya gotta take the organized sports route
Is it just me, or do NY people exaggerate everything related to New York?
bubble living?
People actually hate NYC, it's the best city in the world. "Make your mark in New York & you're a made man" - Mark Twain
It's not just you. You're correct, but that includes the bad stuff as well. Not sure about the basketball nowadays, but regarding the 70's? Zero exaggeration. But honestly, brothers anywhere in the U.S. are brilliant on the court...
no..the rest of us agree with you
Isaiah Washington?
Nyc to the wheel’s fall off 👍🏻🤙✊🏻🇵🇷
They passing that Legend name around to freely ..... everybody is not a legend... there’s a lot of stars, all stars,, good ,, solid players....... I’ve been watching StREETBALL since 1987.... watching other basketball games around the. City with my pops and uncles since 1979,1980....
Always I read his name, I ask myself: Who calls his son God?

Ballislife got a interview with the GOAT,the greatest Laker ever.... Smush Parker!
A butter would always duck a challenge he called out homicide and never showed his face and he called out the destroyer and never showed up
chicago is the mecca of ball or naptown
Los Angeles is the mecca...the data doesn't lie
NY got the best streetballers. Chicago has better all around players.
Los Angeles/California is the Mecca, most pros in league than any state. Hands Down.
Malcolm Bray nah my guy NY is
MiisterItalia 7 I'll admit NY got more swag and style but California got the best ball
MiisterItalia 7 the thing is cali is good all over, but ny just has nyc
im pretty sure yah the same people who walking around saying jelly but wont say that it came from new york too right
Omari Ward nah I'm from NY (buffalo tho lol), my trainer went to the same school as Isaiah Washington and said they were saying jelly when he went there (he's like 28ish now)
If they don't put no respect on Isaiah Washington name I'm gonna be hot!
Air Ceezus he light tho
North carolina is hoop state... Honestly... Coming from somebody from Philly
Lil' Uzzy Horizontal im from florida i had a Tournment there those kids have good shots and iq but most of them lack athleticism
Lil' Uzzy Horizontal that's a legible argument, but it's not NYC
Lil' Uzzy Horizontal it's between Cali and NC
Malcolm Bray I agree with that
NC has a decent amount of good pros for a state without a huge population. Duke, UNC, Wake Forest, NC State are also good at recruiting top NC ball players and keeping em in state. Also Michael Jordan.
💪👐👍
+Ballislife West 4th street is the top 5 best court in NYC Pin if you agree.
Not really, the summer tournament is dope but the everyday games... not so much. But it's super cool to be getting those games off in the middle of Greenwich Village. 6:11
its just basketball..

Yeah yeah all that sounds good. It's a guy in VA sleeping in his moms basement with a 9 to 5 that will give anybody in the Rucker thirty as I type. People that don't travel think they are elite at everything. I'll drop 35 in the Rucker tonight and it'll take me only 13 hours to prove it. People doing the same things everywhere. NY u are not the pioneers u think u are. As far as evolving, yes. It's the more than the 5 places they say this or that is sold. Innovation is global. But u may have to be in NY or cali to get noticed and that's ashamed. But salute ny. Salute the world
