Wow. Since this video, there has been 3+ deaths at that same spot. Pino, you are a lucky man and given a second chance. Hopefully you have learned from this and darwinism didn't catch up to you again.
Everyone! If you look at this guy who got nailed by the wave. He is stunned and in a minor shock. This is why as a FRIEND, You MUST GRAB him and lead him to safety. He cant make a fast decision when stunned
Have you ever lived in a tourist location? I'm from Orlando. Ive seen tourists do really stupid things, most of which include swimming in alligator infested lakes. When Im on vacation, I learn about the place I'm coating and ask the locals what they recommend I should do during my stay. You can be safe and have fun at the same time. People who are loud, rude, pushy and think they can get away with anything are just plain dumb and seriously annoying.
I think the adults in this group would be dangerously irresponsible anywhere they go. I certainly wouldn't trust them with a child's safety in such a situation. BTW, I get the feeling there were at least a little drunk.
Even if that clueless tourist did get swept out to sea, I bet the obnoxious cameraman would still be like YOOO PINO HE GOT SWEPT OUT! HAHAAA OMG GUYS THIS IS SO CRAAZY!
Having visited the Nakalele blowhole, I know these tourists walked past the signs warning people not to stand over the blowhole. I notice Hawaii gives people discretion to do stupid and risky things by not gating off their beautiful nature, but by providing ample warnings. If people choose to ignore such warnings, then they suffer the consequences.
They r really blessed that they didn't loose that little girl's father that day, AND a few kids...it looked very close. No laughing matter, it was a tragedy in the making.
Even after the large wave, this video shows plenty of people continuing to keep their backs to the ocean...violating a fundamental principle ingrained in anyone from Maui.
People have died at the blowhole. He's damn lucky he didn't get sucked in. Locals keep telling the tourists "it's not a waterpark. Watch it from a safe distance" but no...
@scarmo19 No. Many people have died in these blowholes because they got that close to them. Actually a man just passed away for doing what you guys did. There are warnings all over the place. It's not an accident if your own stupidity kills you, that's just asking for it. I don't know why people think they're invincible.
Oh yeah! Extremely irresponsible. They're the type of people who not only endanger their own safety, but that of those around them. They get themselves in trouble, and others have to put their lives on the line trying to rescue them. I live in a tourist area too, and I see this kind of thing far too often.
Thats how ignorant, unaware tourists get lost. And the camera man thinks it is a joke... No laughing matter at all. Use some common sense tourists. Nearest help for Nakalele is 1-2 hours away from any public safety entity. In this side of the island, in this ocean, you would most likely get lost, drown, or get eaten. Even some locals have been lost here. Words to the wise, never underestimate the power of the ocean, and never turn your back on her.
I recorded this same area from afar (stayed on dry rock) watching two girls sit right where that one guy was... in my video, I say, "Damn, am I about to film a death" as a huge spout of water shoots from the blow hole and waves crash behind them simultaneously. They had to get that shot tho.... 😂
I live by the sea and no matter what danger signs go up ..you always get people like this ...I really think they should be charged if they have to be rescued ..
Living here all my life, I've seen it far to often. Everyday there are people getting swept out to see, drowning, going off cliffs, etc. I just read this morning how some tourists drove off a 100ft cliff in the same area, they luckily survived somehow. A few months ago a tourist killed his girlfriend at the same exact area. People like this come to see "paradise" but it ends up in tragedy because they lose their common sense when on vacation. Also, alcohol and stupidity never mix in a good way.
that was actually a noticeably large wave but i was there just two days ago and while i have a very healthy respect for those wave the can be very deceiving. is best just to not go near the edge at all if you care about going home
Respect the power of mother nature...mistakes usually end lives. Lots of laughing going on until it's almost too late. Besides the wave knocking him over, this man and everyone else standing nearby are sure lucky the water didn't suck them over the side. Attractions like this are best observed from a distance. Rule of thumb...if the sight you're standing on is wet you can bet your house that the waves can and will reach you. Back the hell up!!!!
Some people will never learn... From UPI (com) Hawaii: Man fell in blowhole at own risk Published: July 15, 2011 (SNIP) The county said search teams went back Thursday and saw that visitors "continued to gather around the blowhole area, despite being told that someone disappeared in that same location a few days ago." For the rest of the article, google search: "Man fell in blowhole at own risk"
The only one who had sense that day was the girl crying. Just because your in Hawaii doesn't mean bad things can't happen if you don't use your common sense.
I can't tell from video... did he almost get pulled out to sea or down the blowhole? It looks like the hole is farther to the left, and he almost got pulled off the rocks into the ocean. Nasty way to die either way... tough to swim in a blender. That water is so full of bubbles that you'd sink straight down.
Hope you learned a lesson there. You see that fear on their faces, it is genuine. No Joke. The power of the ocean is something you need to respect. Don't play around with her unless you know what you are doing, even then she can still be unpredictable. She could easily take your life in a second. Treat her like a pet lion. Maybe fun to play with when small. But if you don't know what you're doing, would you go into the cage with a "tamed" adult? Even trainers get mauled once in a while.
Okay. I'm not from Hawaii, and even I know to get the heck out of the way of that much water coming at me at once. What comes in, must go out. It can knock you off your feet and pull you in, dragging you across those rocks like cheese in a grater.
Scarmo....I'm guessing you saw the news....you probably turned all red face when you saw or read the article. I hope now you realized that those actions put everyone in jepordy, you could have avoided the whole thing by watching from a distance.
well, when tourists show up at my home and act like I should worship them because of their "support," and they treat the local people, attractions, etc like garbage, then of course I will also have this attitude. It is well deserved. I do not live in Maui, but I live in an area that has a heavy tourism trade, and we deal with the same thing. Be smart, and respectful, when you are on vacation, and "the locals" won't hate you!
@scarmo19 "accidents do happen" because you all are welcoming one with open arms! if a local did this, others would think they're just as stupid. but rarely do you see locals waiting for waves to come crash into them because we KNOW the ocean is powerful, and we know we should RESPECT that! if beno had been killed, tourists would 'drop visits to maui" because they think it's dangerous... but only the arrogant are the ones who get themselves killed. just like the guy from california.
The attitude from locals here is stupid. Sure, HI has tourists from all over the world. TWA had customers and many went to Freedom Land in NY from all over the world. Neither are in business because of the "we got other customers, don't need you" attitude. Rather than educating people who are unfamiliar with the ocean, you're just bashing them. And, nobody can win a lawsuit against a state for being killed by a wave while standing on a blowhole.
Go to hawaiinewsnow (com) and look for the article and video titled: "Blowhole dangers caught on tape" They showed part of this youtube video and part of some other youtube videos.
Well, welcome to planet earth. People r rude. This will never change,EVER. Any1 that feels superior to others will always come across as obnoxious & rude. A certain percentage of any population always feels they r smarter than others no matter what. U have to accept this or forever go through life never enjoying anything because the moment u come across some1 with this mentality, u will immediately start mumbling to urself exactly what u have been saying & your day is ruined from that point on.
I hear the girl frantically screaming long after the wave has hit and gone..... what is she screaming about? Is there something else going on that isn't mentioned in the title of this clip?
There are some really bad parents in the world
Just some dumb tourists
Wow. Since this video, there has been 3+ deaths at that same spot. Pino, you are a lucky man and given a second chance. Hopefully you have learned from this and darwinism didn't catch up to you again.
Laughing at first could turn into weeping for the deceased! “Enter at your own risk” but leave the children in a safe place!
Everyone! If you look at this guy who got nailed by the wave. He is stunned and in a minor shock. This is why as a FRIEND, You MUST GRAB him and lead him to safety. He cant make a fast decision when stunned

Not everyone is as smart as you, as seen in the video
I think the adults in this group would be dangerously irresponsible anywhere they go. I certainly wouldn't trust them with a child's safety in such a situation. BTW, I get the feeling there were at least a little drunk.

Pinos my favorite character in this movie!
pino got an oscar for his roll
serious WTF get off the dam rocks you clowns, mega dangerous
These kids should be taken away from the parents for reckless endangerment! Anyone else agree?
hawaiian blow holes have killed so many people. please respect the aina. respect the warning signs. they mean you're life. alohaseemaui
They r really blessed that they didn't loose that little girl's father that day, AND a few kids...it looked very close. No laughing matter, it was a tragedy in the making.

Feel sorry for the kids who were put in a life threatening situation.
People have died at the blowhole. He's damn lucky he didn't get sucked in.
Locals keep telling the tourists "it's not a waterpark. Watch it from a safe distance" but no...
we've almost lost Pino? no, you've almost lost your wife, kids, and friends.
@scarmo19 No. Many people have died in these blowholes because they got that close to them. Actually a man just passed away for doing what you guys did. There are warnings all over the place. It's not an accident if your own stupidity kills you, that's just asking for it. I don't know why people think they're invincible.
Old Hawaiian advice “Never face your back to the ocean” Mahalo
And that's how people die on vacation.
Since the 80's there's been 257 deaths at the same spot. Don't turn your back on the sea my precious cherubs
Oh yeah! Extremely irresponsible. They're the type of people who not only endanger their own safety, but that of those around them. They get themselves in trouble, and others have to put their lives on the line trying to rescue them. I live in a tourist area too, and I see this kind of thing far too often.
42 year old tourist man died there last week, left a wife 8mo pregnant. Malama Pono, Malama Aina.
What were they expecting? A quiet little pond with swans?

Darwin smiled and said. ”darn, I missed that time”

Pino for President 2016
Classic Pino.
So stupid you guys all couldve went in.respect the ocean..be careful.
that was actually a noticeably large wave but i was there just two days ago and while i have a very healthy respect for those wave the can be very deceiving. is best just to not go near the edge at all if you care about going home
It's a miracle Pino is alive. Don't play again with your life.
Respect the power of mother nature...mistakes usually end lives. Lots of laughing going on until it's almost too late. This is so sad, the little girl crying. Humiliating. This should not have been posted out of respect.
gtfo poor lil girl? No one told those stupid kids to climb down. dumb kids and even dumber adults
Too true. Where I live, I can expect to hear sirens, or even air ambulance helicopters on long weekends in the summer.
The pinot guy almost died from that just like David, he got scars and huge cuts from that
Some people will never learn...

I hate tourist. If you go on vacation somewhere do what the locals do and try to blend in. You'll be less annoying that way.
Never underestimate Mother Nature!
“Don’t scream guys” says foolish insensitive grown woman to terrified young girls who could have easily slipped
The girl crying is the only smart one in the group.
How can this family even show their faces
Search David Potts Hawaii and you wouldn’t be joking around there
Well, there's one little girl who will never visit the beach again.
The only one who had sense that day was the girl crying. Just because your in Hawaii doesn't mean bad things can't happen if you don't use your common sense.
Never turn your back on mother nature
The waves that hit are more dangerous than the blowhole. I've seen rogue waves cover that rock where they are standing
Stupid to take children so close!
The kids are crying and the guy is still laughing...
pure candidates for the Darwin Awards, Hawai'i Edition
I can't tell from video... did he almost get pulled out to sea or down the blowhole? It looks like the hole is farther to the left, and he almost got pulled off the rocks into the ocean. I am glad they all survived. Don't no why they lined the children up on a rock, even after that guy almost got sucked under.

And Everyone Died. THE END
That's why get signs warning u about the dangers.
Respect the ocean. No underestimate.
This is exactly why I never feel bad when stupid people die..
Okay. I'm not from Hawaii, and even I know to get the heck out of the way of that much water coming at me at once. What comes in, must go out. It can knock you off your feet and pull you in, dragging you across those rocks like cheese in a grater.

locals stay far and away from these.....why? cause they see tourists die every week getting to close to these spots
What accident? nobody got hurt and nobody died. Pity.
I wonder if the up loader sees these comments. But you seem like you enjoy putting yourself in this type of danger
im a tourist and im not even close to that stupid... so just to let you know, there are tourists that know what theyre doing!!
One thing all these videos have in common are stupid people with cameras laughing. I’m sure all the folks who have drowned think it’s super funny.
Pino looks like he's in shock......
It’s called Stupid not fun.
Yep...real slow....but he´s the brain in that family
@scarmo19 I have a feeling that he has only been a "Local" for a short time.

the wave tickled her pachina
The Shark-Man was trying to kidnap them.
Does anyone else get the impression that Pino and the man holding the camera are drunk?
This is why condoms should be used......
LOOK OUT PINO
That's how people die
the man did he died
