Yeah it was. First rule of covering a song. . be respectful of the original but make it your own. That's a tough thing to get right but they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
watching the facial expressions of someone who is discovering something new and beautiful always amazes me, kinda like seeing a young child try ice-cream for the first time.
One of the best covers that I have ever heard. The raw emotion expressed by David is incredible. Brought out every raw feeling of the original. His vocals are fucking epic.
Love the short hair. You are beautiful. This is my favorite rendition of this song. His interpretation truly brings out the true meaning of the lyrics. Simon & Garfunkel sang to alarm us, he sang to give us a final warning. You should watch their music video version. It is as beautiful as it is haunting.
I am 76 and remember when Simon & Garfunkel sang it in 1964 and many others since. It was not until I heard Disturbed that I understood the song. Watch the studio version for the video that goes with it. If you have not checked out "Hold on to Memories", I think you would like that one also.
I always liked the original, but never paid much attention to the message. Disturbed and David Draiman, demand me to listen and hear the message of the song, Just love it. Thnx for honest and straight forward reaction
David Draiman.....one of THE best male vocalists out there. Can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, to clear as crystal to grit/rasp and back on a dime! ....powerful and soulful voice! Amazing timber to his voice that I've never heard before.....also awesome control. A voice to die for....can give you chills! Loved your reaction MK ....was mine too!
"... the words of the prophets are written on subway walls and tenament halls ..." Simon & Garfunkel's rendition was a melancholy lament, full of resignation over the social disillusionment. I hear Disturbed's rendition as a powerfull call to arms, the anthem for the coming revolution!
Your facial reactions say it all !!! This is an amazing cover of a brilliant song, 1st done by Simon & Garfunkel warning us, if we don't change our ways we are headed for destruction, and Disturbs version is angry, because we didn’t listen to the warnings... 😌 I always feel this song is like a rollercoaster ride....... slowly bringing you to the top, with nervous anticipation, then quickly crashing to the bottom, leaving a pit in your stomach.....Great reaction & I had a very similar reaction, to my very soul......
I dunno about whomever was complaining, but methinks ye offer an unadulterated viewpoint that I find rather refreshing. You stay you and keep doing you, girl!
When the video for this was posted on my timeline I almost passed on listening to it. Then I thought it might be good for a laugh. I sat there with chills running down my spine the whole time. Quite possibly the greatest cover, ever. BTW nice dog.
As you know the original was to warn people and their version was more like a heartbreaking rage because we failed to listen!! Beautifully performed!!❤️
You killed with this reaction. I have watched many reviews of this version, and it was awesome hearing you speak about the stings and orchestration of this production. And yes, his voice always brings a bit of a tear to this old tuff fart’s eyes. F, yeah!
The song portrays the invention of the television and the disconnect of humanity from humanity. There is an important message here. simon and garfunkle are geniuses they pretty much predicted the future media wow
David Draiman, the vocalist was a bit under the weather when he performed this live on Conan and was marvelous. Another tidbit of info here. David is classically trained and at one time trained to be a cantor and a rabbi.
Rick Welch I called it the voice of every God through the vocal chords of one man...like a hurricane through the tropics. PS, your comment is perfect, I salute you Rick.
he shocked the world with that preformance, his range is absolutely insane and has such a rich warm tone. suggestion - react to The Danish National Symphony Orchestra, they are probably the best/most creative symphony in the world atm with vids that routinely reach into the millions of views... i'm sure they done a piece or 2 you'd like to hear.
Some people say this is the best; some say it's the video that Disturbed did. In the live version he had a cold and someone autotuned his voice. He was pissed. He also was trained as a cantor; he chose metal.
The thing that amazed me the most about this performance was that he did it while he had the flu was running a high temperature and had to be seated because he didn't have the strength to stand for the whole performance, if he can put on a performance like this when he's ill you know he's a special type of performer
I have been checking out various reaction channels, because I love to see new things found, musically speaking. One of my big annoyances was people pausing the video to comment - it breaks the groove. Commenting during the song is fine/expected as long as the song remains centric, dig? I like that you let it play on, I will be back to see you on other songs. Thanks!
Paul Simon posted Disturbed's cover on his social media accounts....which is extremely rare among all the covers of his music ever done, this is one of the few. @SMR - You should try listening to it w/out talking over it...kills the vibe & full experience to be had.
Love the shaved head look! My little sister has the same and rocks it! Okay she's 27 but to me she's my little sister and always will be lol. Anyway, this song is epic to me, really brings me back to high school when Disturbed- Believe came out and I listened to it nonstop! All the damn feels!
I have always believed that when a group has reached the level of orchestration to accompany them, it is then that they have arrived... little songs little music - BIG songs big music!.,..
You have just listened to Grammy winning performance. The orchestration, let alone the vocal was supreme; and I never noticed until another reviewer said - each part of the orchestra comes in when they're lit up! You, beautiful lady; your hair absolutely suits you! I haven't checked out what you NEED to listen to yet, but I'm sure it includes Iron Maiden, Within Temptation and Tangerine Dream. Love you loads!
Your hair look great, love your tattoo on your hand and your per friends ❤️ I’d love you to react to Nightwish, even though they don’t have a live orchestra, they have a full background of symphonic instruments and choirs. Épica and Within Temptation have a few gigs with a full live orchestra 🤘🏽
This version of the song blew me away. Wonderful voice - did not expect such control and delicate singing ability from a hard rock/metal band. Also OMG MK has such a pretty face :) Ok back to the song, I would really like to hear some other classic songs by them. I think they can totally pull off other great songs.
Beautiful young dog. Enjoy - they don't stay young forever. Mine's snoring next to me - 13 year old Flattie. Oh, and the version of the song is awesome.
Paul Simon said this version brought a tear to his eye...can’t think of a greater compliment
A greater compliment would be eminem telling you that you could rap
@@cristiansimionica9245 nope
Paul Simon also said the song doesn't belong to him anymore it belongs to them that also is an awesome comment
Not to mention a lot of dollars to his bank account. :)
@@edwinbaez9948 Paul Simon has never said that, it's often commented on these videos, but Paul has never said that.
The only cover Simon and Garfunkel liked publicly. They shared this performance on their social media page.
Apart from where First Aid Kit brought tears to Paul Simon's eyes when they covered America at the Polar Music Prize concert.
I was never a big Disturbed fan, but, this is a friggin' master class in how to cover a song.
Yeah it was.
First rule of covering a song. . be respectful of the original but make it your own.
That's a tough thing to get right but they absolutely knocked it out of the park.
yep. you either make it your own or you hit it exact
This cover IS fantastic, but I HIGHLY recommend looking up Henk Poort's cover of this rendition.
there is no need for the first part of a sentence (I was never a big Disturbed fan), because it does not matter.
this is fuckin' great cover.
This cover is the best I have ever heard. Buckle your seatbelt sweetie.
watching the facial expressions of someone who is discovering something new and beautiful always amazes me, kinda like seeing a young child try ice-cream for the first time.
Amen...or child discovering rain....Powerful moments.

Simon & Garfunkels original was a warning. Disturbed's version is rage for not listening.

That fucking version gets me in the feelers every time
I am so happy to see, after probably 50 videos someone call the Timpani by name, not just big drums.
you did it!!! 100k views and you are finest looking youtuber on the net... VIRAL!!! =)
I dunno about whomever was complaining, but methinks ye offer an unadulterated viewpoint that I find rather refreshing. You stay you and keep doing you, girl!
Me: trying to decide if I wanted to subscribe
Dog: walks into frame
Me: subscribe button clicked.
And then a kitten appears.... how can I not? :)
MK: doesn't pet dog
Me: reconsiders subscription
Literally
what about the black cat fucking with her earbuds at the end?? My heart melted. The cat wanted to hear the awesome shit!
Same lol
The most amazing part of this particular performance is he had the flu while doing it if I remember correctly. Yet still sounded that amazing.
I love when artists cover a song and make it their own, while keeping the spirit of the original.
I'm so obsessed with this song!!! His voice is EPIC!!! The Instrumentals were amazing!!! Song is a CLASSIC!!! Loved it!!! And your hair is delish!!!
This version gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
When the video for this was posted on my timeline I almost passed on listening to it. Then I thought it might be good for a laugh. I sat there with chills running down my spine the whole time. Quite possibly the greatest cover, ever. BTW nice dog.
Agreed. The original by S&G is one of my all time favorites but this blows it out of the water
And nice cat?? The cat at the end pulling her earbuds out was absolutely the best part ! Hehe
As you know the original was to warn people and their version was more like a heartbreaking rage because we failed to listen!! Beautifully performed!!❤️
Awesome response! Yep what a voice. Luv from Australia ❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️
I'm a big Disturbed Fan.. He is the best, 😍😍😍
I’m a huge Disturbed fan, listen to a reason to fight and hold onto memories. They are different than their usual heavy metal sound.
First off, diggin the hair, secondly welcome to the Disturbed rabbit hole.
Love the reaction.👍👍♥️😊
He was even sick during this performance
But at least he wasn't down with the sickness.
Of all the reaction videos in your channel you're the best!
You killed with this reaction. I have watched many reviews of this version, and it was awesome hearing you speak about the stings and orchestration of this production. And yes, his voice always brings a bit of a tear to this old tuff fart’s eyes. F, yeah!

First reactor out of over 100 I've subscribed too. You did great
David Draiman, the vocalist was a bit under the weather when he performed this live on Conan and was marvelous. Another tidbit of info here. David is classically trained and at one time trained to be a cantor and a rabbi.
He actually had the flu at the time, and, still sounded that good. A true pro.
he was upset that the show used autotune on him, he felt insulted.
correct he had the flu and was running a high temp and was annoyed they auto tuned him
I’m a big fan of disturbed and I loved this cover. They also did a great cover of Land of Confusion by Genesis
Dog hair on the hoodie and climbin' cat! Love it...
When you get a chance, watch the official video. I think you'll love the message it brings. Thank you for your honest reaction. Well done.
Video is awesome
Right. Better quality.
David, the lead singer was classically trained & had a bad cold or flu that night he performed on Conan
U got me at "fuck yeah dude" 🤘👏👏👏
Most honest reaction I have seen in a long time. Loved this song.
thanks leonce!
as a violinist you may appreciate metallica s&m or s&m2 both done with the san francisco symphony
God: Do you want to sing like an angel, or a demon?
David: Yes.
Rick Welch I called it the voice of every God through the vocal chords of one man...like a hurricane through the tropics. PS, your comment is perfect, I salute you Rick.
Dude has one of the best voices in the genre.
Perfect !
Wait till you hear Tatiana sing in the song Pisces by Jinger 😈
jaclyn howarth-wilde I must confess, I do not consider that thrash metal sound in Pisces singing...it's ok if you like it, I just don't.
Fantastic reaction ty.
Paul Simon fortold it with a hint of joyful music... This is letting us know we are living it.
Even your dog is like.. this is some quality shit right here
he shocked the world with that preformance, his range is absolutely insane and has such a rich warm tone.

I only heard this yesterday and I'm blown away. Devastating vocals, one of the very best male vocalists I have ever heard.
Disturbed Knocked this cover out of the park.. They are amazing..
As a viola player 100 yrs ago (okay...maybe only 35 yrs) I appreciate you mentioning the strings in this video. 😊🎼🎶🎻
Disturbed in Miles Kennedy did a duet of The sound of silence in Houston Texas live
Disturbed had been nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance for their rendition of "The Sound of Silence" while appearing on Conan.
Some people say this is the best; some say it's the video that Disturbed did. In the live version he had a cold and someone autotuned his voice. He was pissed. He also was trained as a cantor; he chose metal.
This is a beautiful rendition. A different song, but great in its own right!
The thing that amazed me the most about this performance was that he did it while he had the flu was running a high temperature and had to be seated because he didn't have the strength to stand for the whole performance, if he can put on a performance like this when he's ill you know he's a special type of performer

This was such a amazing performance & he was sick when he did this. This version of this song brings tears to my eyes Everytime I hear it .
The fact that he was sick only makes this more incredible. Killed it.
I just love the way your not worried about using the f word. You go girl.
"Violinist reacts"... talks about David's voice lol That's how good David is, he can make you forget you play the violin.
LOVE the hair and your reaction💓
Every time I hear this I get goosebumps! ❤️
Your hair looks great it really suits you.
Love your kitty helper.
An absolute masterpiece
you need to see the visuals in the official video..... amazing
Both versions are fuckin' epic.
Paul Simon posted Disturbed's cover on his social media accounts....which is extremely rare among all the covers of his music ever done, this is one of the few. @SMR - You should try listening to it w/out talking over it...kills the vibe & full experience to be had.

This is so far removed from their typical music that anyone (EVERYONE?) is blown away!!
I have always believed that when a group has reached the level of orchestration to accompany them, it is then that they have arrived... little songs little music - BIG songs big music!.,..
The first version was a warning to us.
This version is the rage of a warning unheeded.
Daaaym the new hair brings out your face really well. And that is a face worth bringing out in all its glory. 🙂
Yesss. She is very beautiful.
Great performance, you have to watch the official video. The imagery combined with the performance is stunning. 🤘
Best line in this video... “the timpany b1tch is getting ready”
Your hair look great, love your tattoo on your hand and your per friends ❤️
I’d love you to react to Nightwish, even though they don’t have a live orchestra, they have a full background of symphonic instruments and choirs.
Épica and Within Temptation have a few gigs with a full live orchestra 🤘🏽
Disturbed is friggin' awesome! 'Down With the Sickness' and 'Stupify' are also incredible.
Loved your reaction. Liked and subbed. 💕
Now that was a great reaction video! Oh, and your hair looks great by the way.
"Fuck yeah, dude!"...LOL!! 😄 I love it!
I had to watch this video twice. I was happily distracted by the dog and the kitty
Thank you!
Very beautiful!
Goosebumps to the max.
You know they like it when they say “ fuck yea dude “ lol more than once.
This version of the song blew me away. Wonderful voice - did not expect such control and delicate singing ability from a hard rock/metal band.
Also OMG MK has such a pretty face :) Ok back to the song, I would really like to hear some other classic songs by them. I think they can totally pull off other great songs.
Omg!! I love your kitten.
Temazo! Saludos desde Chile 🇨🇱
Beautiful young dog. Enjoy - they don't stay young forever. Mine's snoring next to me - 13 year old Flattie. Oh, and the version of the song is awesome.
ROAD THAT LOVE FOR 7 YEARS....
Very sultry, I love David Draiman heart ❤
Great vid....and i loved your kitty!!🥰🥰
great genuine reaction. thank you.
Best cover ever. David Draiman sounds like an angel and a demon had a child. ❤
Listen to “hold on to memories” by disturbed
He had influenza for this Conan performance. If you liked this, watch the band's official video - it's intense
This a BOP fr
Quite simply the greatest cover ever!!
Great reaction. Love your hair!
I’ve watched a ton of reaction videos to this song.... I really enjoyed watching your reaction
David's Voice Slay's All Others
He was sick during this performance and yet look at how amaziiinngg he did.. You HAVVEE to listen to the studio recorded version
Ooooh....what a cute doggy. And the powerful song from S&G and Disturbed version. Peace)
I think the shaved looks beautiful. You do you baby girl. Don’t worry about the haters. Keep up the great work.
Good reaction, sister. That voice is only on loan from God himself.
I couldn't agree more. Fuck yeah...
