It's a government funded program that allows you to study French in Quebec (or other provinces) while earning credits in the summer and you can either live with a host family or in a university residence. It really helped my French a lot :)
Best inspirational video ever!! I'm turning 17 soon and I'm trying to SHUT UP AND GO as much as I can : these past years I fell in love with Italy by studying it at school and meeting so many Italian friends, and now after having spent Christmas in an Italian family in Rome, I am already planning to go back to Italy in a few months! I only took French in middle school and can understand you fluently, it’s really interesting how your brain doesn’t forget a language. I can’t speak it anymore but I can fully understand it
when i was 9 or so, i visited paris with my family. needless to say, we all loved the city so much. and when i was 14, my family spontaneously moved to paris just for fun. now i'm 15, and going to french school, learning the language. tu m'as inspiré, toi et damon sont les meillures youtubeuses :))
It's so heartwarming that your mom finally visited Paris. It goes to show that it's never too late to live out your dreams. Thanks for adding that bit of inspo in at the end!
I'm learning French right now. I caught a few words, but I hope to come back in a few months and see how much more I can understand :) thanks for sharing! Great story!

@@stefancity6896 hello! I have been wanting to learn french all my life, i took classes here and there, used language learning apps. But only now i took it seriously and started seeing all the options i could use. (I could understand what you were saying tho and im proud of that) Someone told me i should prioritize being able to just communicate and learn 1000 basic words, without all the fancy vocabulary and grammar, so thats my goal for now. I'm trying to get used to the french media, like youtubers, community, movies, but i have been struggling in trying to find things i actually enjoy. (English is my 2nd language, and i learned it really quickly because i found things in english that i actually could enjoy) any recommendations? Also where do i find a french speaking partner? I have friends that could speak french but its kinda embarrassing because im not at that level yet, so maybe when im intermediate i will talk to them in french, but for now maybe i will look fo a stranger that could speak french.
I met a very good friend in LA thanks to internet, it changed my life because i've learned to speak better in english and i found my alter ego, i'm very thankful to have him in my life!
I have just started learning french... I have completed a level and now i know the basics... I wish i can get a person who is as fluent as you are in french with whom i can practice !
I started learning french at 11, in 5th grade, when I was in Azerbaijan, but when I was 13, in 7th grade, me and my family moved to New York, which changed my life. I was really stressed, because I had no friends, I was struggling to talk and had this awful accent on English, which caused me so many bullies at school. I completely stopped leaning french. But during quarantine, I found this video, and Jo, you are just amazing!❤️🥺 You inspired me not to stop learning french! Thank you for this video and by the way, your accent, c'est parfait!
When I was younger I used to hate english, but my mom told me that it could helped me a lot in life. So I've decided to shut up n' learn...now I speak both french n' english Btw ton français est excellent :D
Hi Jo!
Learning english changed my life and allowed me to travel, discover languages I never knew I could love learning and your channel just makes me embrace this passion. so thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I understood 90% of what you were saying without read the subtitles and I'm totally shocked because I'm a Brazilian girl as you are, I've been studying English for a long time and there are so many words that sounds similar to French. I think I should start studying this language by myself this year. Obrigada, Jo ❤
I have been studying French for 5 years.... And I highly doubt I will be able to speak as good as you! I can understand almost everything but when I have to speak... Oh mon dieu ! My grammar and vocabulary don't exist 😂
Before all , Have trust in yourself otherwise you can not do anything. Myself i'm a native french speaker but i succeeded to speak English without ever going out from my country. Just with the big will to succeed without never give up to my goal and with the prayer cuz i'm doing anything with blessing of My Lord JESUS. And with him , i breakthrough everything of my way. I encourage you and Never forget that.
msmusik2 // Hi! I guess you speak english, right ? No seriously, I’m french and even if your french is good you made some mistakes. You should say « J’étudie » and not « Je suis étudié ». French is a really hard langage to learn so don’t worry, practice, and it will be okay ^^
Bezos Tais Salermo.
I'm fluent in English and German and I would love to be fluent in french as well but I'm still far away from that.. I barely understand french people but I understood almost everything in this video so your french videos really give me hope :D Please keep going, I love your videos so much 😍

Hi @damonandjo, have you guys ever done a video comparing Quebec French and France French? My French teacher mentioned that the Quebec French is difficult for her to understand (she is from France) and I wanted to know a little more about the French language in Quebec vs French language in France, maybe even a little bit of Quebec's French language history too, just as a POV from 2nd language speakers and since you've been to both places. Adore your videos!
I would love to see this!! My french prof in the states was from France but I studied in Quebec for a semester and the accents/vocab were so different from my teacher's. The history behind the differences in vocabulary is super interesting! Especially the swear words hahah !
I from Paris I can tell you that, yes, it's totaly different ! Well, we can understand a little but their accent is so special and they use different words sometimes
That's the impression I got from my professor! I'm currently looking into studying a degree in Montreal (in English) and am preparing myself by going over my old notes so that I can engage in the francophone culture as well (I can hardly even call myself a beginner so I have a lot of work to do!), but none of my resources are based on Quebec french. I also have the intention of studying and practicing some French while I am there, but my teacher has mentioned that she would be conflicted because she would've loved for me to keep the accent she's been instructing me with (likely to interact with me in French as well). I sort of want to try to have a good base in standard European French and then learn Quebec French so that I can modify my speech accordingly, but I think a comparison video will at least prepare me for the biggest differences! Thank you for clarifying the level of difference for me :-)
I'm so suprised about myself because I actually understand what you're saying.

Lol I’m trying to commit to learning French on Duolingo since I have sooo much time now, but as InnerFrench said, c’est période de confinement peut etre un mal pour un bien!! Also, your comment about French teachers in school was on point! I started taking French in 6th grade and my teacher was nice, but the work was always rote and boring. All of my French classes didn’t excite me. I took French classes with brooding French teachers until grade 11 in high school. I’d had enough so I dropped the class for my last 2 years of high school. No regrets, but even if the class work annoyed me, it’s still a really cool opportunity to learn a language. So now I’m gonna use what’s at my fingertips to learn what I can. Bon chance pour moi! 😅☮️💟✝️

I have just started learning french... I have completed a level and now i know the basics... I wish i can get a person who is as fluent as you are in french with whom i can practice !
Hi , French is my native language , and I can help u with pleasure. However, Only with respect and wise cuz these values are really important for me.
*I couldn’t understand a word, but it sounded lovely ❤️*

Thank you for clarifying the level of difference for me :-)
Melanie LaGasse Ce fut un plaisir !
I swear this channel is the reason why I haven't gave up in French class at school and still kinda trying my best, so thanks!
