Once Nas said "that ether that ish' that makes your soul burn slow"...it was a wrap. Bodied Jigga - I don't care what NOBODY says.
The last verse on that joint was like call the coroner let's plan the funeral
And his career still didn't take off like Hov. Jay gave Nas a verse of all facts and Nas made a whole joke record
@@BigTrisStreams Jay got bodied
nas won. jus is still salty
People keep saying "Takeover" was more facts. Where? MC Serch has already debunked that line about Jay Z paying him, the line about 4 albums in 10 years doesn't mean anything, one hot album every so and so is an opinion, and showing someone their first TEC is totally irrelevant... means nothing.
Exactly, some opinions and some irrelevant facts.
Not saying it wasn't good but people overate it by saying it's nothing but facts.
Ether was strategic also, just naming the song 'Ether' is genius. Nas didn't just come with schoolyard jokes as some like to say.
The tec is relevant. It proves NaS wasn't living what he was rapping about. Search said Jay paid 2,000 dollars to a different company (not serchlite) but NaS didn't see any of that money.
Also I thought it was pretty well known that I am & Nastardamus were totally ass.
mike rosas They don't have to live the life they are rapping about. It's so stupid to think rappers have to be what they rap about, especially when no other genre of music says so. It's supposed to be art. And Jay said he paid Serch, which was NOT fact, no matter if he didn't pay Nas.
And as far as those albums you mentioned, again, those are not facts, those are OPINIONS. There is a difference you know.
mike rosas The Tec line isn't relevant because we have no idea if that was Nas' first time seeing a Tec. If it isn't, it makes the line completely irrelevant. Also, allegedly, in his younger days, Nas was known to stay strapped, (just look up DJ Envy/Nas story).
Serchlite managed Nas' so he saw a cut, with Nas obviously getting the majority.
REST IN PARADISE COMBAT JACK 🙏🏿❤️❤️🕊🕊
So basically Nas went light in ether. He had something stored away in case Jay came back with a worthy response to ether.
You prolly dont give a damn but does anybody know a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me
@Tristian Parker Instablaster ;)
Take over had one verse for Nas so it should be compared to the stillmatic freestyle over the paid in full beat. Super ugly was a direct response to Ether, that is why those songs were put against each other. A Nas bias at Hot 97 is laughable, after the way they played him at Summer Jam. They were still protecting Jay even after he lost the battle.
why were they talking about just jay-z & nas for most of the interview? coulda talked about LP's most recent album, future projects, his input on the rap industry...LP seems like a humble dude and don't mind talking about that shit a lot, but still. i was waiting for them to ask some more in-depth questions about LARGE PRO, not jay-z & nas. LP deserves more respect in that manner.
How can you ask Just Blaze, who Jay Z put on, and Large Professor, Nas' mentor about Ether vs Takeover... At least Large Pro sounded more objective with his reply.
What the fuck? Ether >Takeover.
Really your worried about a beat to a diss record? The beat was good enough. The flows were way more vicious on Ether too.
Im a Jay fan but Ether was a killa
To who? It didn't slow shit down lol
I think Nas n Jay summarized their approaches the best on their interview w Sway where they publicly reconciled: Jay compared Takeover to the Figure Four Leg Lock while Nas said Ether was lighting a napalm bomb
Facts. Also ether had several facts while takeover had all opinions from a stans perspective with sloppy seconds being the only facts.
People have to realize that Jay Z was planting the seed for his battle with Nas. I think Nas was on Jay Z's radar but Jay Z wasn't on Nas' radar. They always dropped some hints here and there but Jay Z was the only one that created an entire track dissing Nas. Jay was holding that in his back pocket but Nas wrote Ether after Jay tried to knock him out. That is why Jay Z's takeover sounds more like a song then a diss song. Ether sounds more organic. For me, takeover, sounded like an entire underestimation of Nas. Jay Z bit the hand that inspired him.
hobb125 You do realize takeover only had 1 verse about nas ?
Also Ether sounds more organic? ISO it sounded pretty generic IMO. It sounded like COD background music.
I would say NaS started the beef he took subliminal shots at Big & Jay on It was Written. Big obviously replied with Kick in the Door (dissed Rae & Ghostface too). Jay didn't really reply until Vol. 3 with Come & Get me.
mike rosas Yeah, Nas technically started it before IWW. Because Jay was a huge fan of Nas and wanted Nas to be featured on Reasonable Doubt and Nas never accepted because he didn't know Jay. It was kinda weird how big of a fan Jay was of one of his peers. He had every Nas single, would call Nas' phone asking for him hence the line "Calling my crib and I ain't even give you my numbers". Even got with his chick and would ask about Nas. Kinda odd.
SanAntoBalla NaS did agree to be on Reasonable Doubt (Can I love or Bring it on) he stood Jay up at the studio. I read it in the XXL 10 year anniversary of RD. Everyone was a big NaS fan, Em rapped like him on Infinite, Big was influenced by him. NaS was just hating hardcore when Big & Jay dropped.
I can't stand when they get on the politically correct, industry sh*t... in a battle, it's about who strikes harder & Nas did that. Takeover is not that gritty sh*t, Jay sounded more comical to me, Nas was on some real battle sh*t. I actually hate the Takeover beat, too. Ether was a true battle beat, Takeover was the more radio-friendly beat, made by a Super producer & that's why they gas it up.
And why they keep saying Jay says all facts? Mc Serch said, Jay didn't know what he was talking about - as far as the "Serchlight" Publishing" lyric, and Nas's homie, Horse, said he was never Nas's bodyguard. So Jay didn't say all facts. I guess I'll never get these industry people... Ether bodied Takeover & Super Ugly. And they seem to not know, the streets actually compare Ether & Takeover... Super Ugly always gets waved off as some bulls*t. F*ck what you heard!
+JKALEDGENDZ Whoever you are, you missed the whole point... What Nas spit was hard battle bars that were meant to be disrespectful as fuck. My point was, I'm tired of these industry heads talking like what Jay spit was the absolute TRUTH, THE GOSPEL... alot of it was just his perspective, it wasn't like everything was facts. Jay said, "Went from the top 10, to not even mentioned at all"... which is only his perspective, because where I'm from we never stopped mentioning Nas in Hiphop discussions, maybe the media or industry mfs, but not the people from my side.
+Trizzmatic TV Ether was meant to be insulting (All battles are "middle school insults"... if you wanna be technical. It all comes from what we call 'the dozens' - slick, wise jokes about each other. It's rooted in childish mannerisms. Remember Hiphop culture itself was started by teenagers.
+Trizzmatic TV definitely not everything jay z had to say was "true" or "facts" but it was more factual than ether which was more about disrespect and insults and some people have more credibility to the facts, some preferred nas dirty insults. They were both great battle tracks in my eyes, i think they both were great for different reasons man.
Trizzmatic TV chill bro....it ain't about the mainstream rate of both Ether and Takeover, it's about what the street rates the two joints
5:52 Sounds like them Queens dudes pulled burners on Blaze.
large pro, you a legend but terrible at answering a question bruh.
Lol Facts 😆 🤣
I like the fact that even knowing he's about to step in the ring with Jay-Z toe to toe Nas used a unknown producers track instead of Swizz..That's very ballsy
was there an "Original Ether" ? ive been trying to find out
Nas loved Jay that's why he didn't go all the way in on him. Like they were saying in this vid it was people around Jay pumping the beef up. That's why Nas said he kills squads after Ether The Roc crumbled. Nas probably had shit in there about Bey he was on a track with her way before she was fucking with Jay. Nas was throwing up whatever the symbol Jay said was for the Roc way before Jay had a label.
Nas is so underrated it's crazy. I don't even understand why? I mean he has the best albums, the best songs and still aint nobody praising him? I don't get it. I think it has to do with his image, he's always had that humble type of thing about him and people seem not to appreciate that. Nas is pure talent tho,
Nas was my winner but that's my opinion .........
ether had much more facts than takeover .. "just hawaian shirts... hanging with lil Cease .."
Extra P got his backpack on.
Just Blaze looks like Cuba Gooding Jr
RIP Combat Jack! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
So the Swizz Beats beat was never actually rhymed over. Damn, if there was some rough draft of Ether with different lyrics over a different beat, I would pay a whole years salary to be the only owner of it, Shkreli style. I'd pay a paycheck to hear it once.
Nah...The beat to Ether is TOP NOTCH shit. Touches the soul. At times being technical leaves room to get beat. Go in the ring all technical (predictable) and you will get knocked out. Nas was ducking and swinging because he knew the deal. Nas hands down.
Jays record was more opinion. Not fact. Ether was more factual.
These idiots don't know the difference between facts and opinions. Only stans think opinions are facts.
takeover gave nas the blueprint on how to write ether if jay z didnt write takeover there want be a ether factz
The only Jay diss record that might be better or to me is better than "Ether" was The Blueprint 2 response. "Can't ya'll see that he's fake? The rap version of T.D. Jakes..."
facts Idk why that one gets so overlooked, and I’m a Nas fan
@@andred4473 Same here. I'm a Nas fan as well.
That didn't age well lol like Takeover
@@memorylove8369 u ont think so? Blueprint 2 was hard.
But Jay admitted defeat on bp2 and said he gives to charity. What so hard about that???😂😂. LRNA finished off bp2.
be still, be still, still what? be Still~matic ;)
lrge pro kinda act like he talkn to feds
Take Over the better beat???? HAHAHAHA Please!!!!
Hey well the majority of people feel Nas won the lyrical battle but as far as the track itself most think The Take Over won on the production tip. Hell you just heard it yourself, even LP himself thinks Jay's track was superior so how can you argue with Nasir's own producer?
It’s hard to say who won Jay put only a verse down to diss Nas in takeover...and Nas put a whole dis song to Jay .... both put down good facts and pretty hurtful remarks are they all true only these 2 artists knew love how they keep the battle within the battle that’s real hip hop ...2 kings of new York go at it ...... and respect each other after glad to have been part of this culture in history .... u gotta recognize greatness
Nas went at Jay as a martial artist. Just because Jay was looking at him, while Nas wasn’t really giving a fuck about him : he already was the urban poetry champ, so for the challenger to take the belt, it would have taken a clearer shot.
So instead of rocking back, he just stepped sideways, let the punch get through the air and grabbed Jay’s arm and just locked him with an arm bar : Jay hasn’t been bullied back, he just had to tap out.
He finished himself when he did not accepted the L and retaliated with « Super Ugly » : the referee had stopped the contest, the lights were back on, the show was over.
He went off guard, missed, got shook by witty jokes on a funeral beat, tapped, so angrily trying to get at the winner when the fight is over was the most ridiculous thing to do. Let alone on a b-side freestyle.
He learned, though, but he got... ethered!
nas was the underdog my nigga came back
Nas and jay should battle just cause they cool now and that's when nas should spit the original ether version
Isnt it rumored he wished Jay was in that planecrash instead Aliyah?
Yup it’s true ! It’s 2 other versions of either! Nas even told the story about pun chasing jay z and pulled out the pistol on him
The "facts" theory of the takeover fans is lame.. what are we talking about, wikipedia pages? I still listen to Ether, just because is nice and motivational.
What's the point of listen to takeover even two times alter you heard those "facts"?? Too easy.. That's why Nas won
I’m tired of the lie that Takeover was facts, it was not it was Jays opinion. Illmatic was a 5 mic album, It Was Written was a 4.5 mic album so that one good album line was a lie. Also Nas owned his publishing so while Jay sent his payment to Searchlight publishing Nas actually got paid. Also Prodigy was never a ballerina he was a little kid dressed as Michael Jackson. Finally the things Nas said about Jay really messed him up psychologically and he answered Ether for years.
"Ether" was more factual than "Takeover" lol
Be still
This tells me there’s a reason Nas has certain people in his camp. Imagine Ether was watered down 😳
Large Pro speaks like Will Smith. They related?? :-) :)
isnt LP uncomfortable wearing that backpack the whole time?
If he was, then am sure he would take it off so to answer your question,No!
JUST BLAZE Know Nas killed Jay . It's not just the Radio . THE WHOLE WORLD agreed on Nas killing Jay with Ether . Even M Bleek. Cam'ron etc.. people on Roc-a- fella Records Were like.....Damn. and looked at Jay like....man. this is some serious stuff. Wt you gonna do ? And what did Jay did ,? He came up with SUPER UGLY ? REALLY ? HE LOST . PERIOD. Just Blaze don't want to admit it because he's a Jay z's Producer that's all
I don't understand why they didn't talk more about Large Pro instead asking Large Pro about... but Nas won that s***... don't even know why this is still an argument... smdh
Just blaze always look like he jumped out of the bed no shower no nothing
They acting like nas aint say no facts n jay wasn't saying wise cracks as well lmaoo
Why they keep saying Either was not facts! He had facts and humor! Stop capping!!!’
Only biased Jay fans would say Takeover was better, Combat jack, Elliot Wilson, Angie Martinez,
When did Angie and yellowman say takeover was better??
just sound like dash
what facts does takeover have foh jayz fans still butt hurt
Nas fell off at the time, he fucked Nas baby mama and the Roc was runnin the game at the time prodigy was a tap dancer and Jay had the picture etc
+Akwesi Corinaldi Did you listen to what large prof said? he was working with nas by the way...''listening is a skill''
Um no Nas didnt fall off.
@@Jefe6622 Prodigy wasn't a tap dancer at the time lol how old are you
@@lemmahmdodana5301 facts plural, what facts, Takeover is an opinionated diss track most of the world thinks It was written was a classic and I am was dope. Sean Carter to Jay z is a fact biggies rhymes is a fact ( "when the remy in the system", "
combat Jack said it, Jay lined him up and tapped him, Nas was Trey on Boyz n tha hood swinging and crying. I loved it, they are 2 of my fav 5 MCs but Jay won this clearly. Takeover was technical! Nas is swinging wildly....like a kid going bezerk
Except in a battle of lyricist one was clearly more lyrical than the other.
+Mark Wilson ahhh.. nothing. about. Ether is lyrical to me. I love Nas. ..but not for his battle joints
Ether was much more lyrical than Takeover. Just dissect some of his lyrics. How he flipped Takeover's hook. How he mimicked Beanie Segal's rhyming cadence. His rhyme schemes as always are great. Nas' "wild swinging" clearly affected Jay, especially the way he responded emotionally with Super Ugly. Everybody knows that wasn't the cool, calm and confident Jay Z we all know. Nas had him in his feelings.
By the way, check out the definition for "Ether", Nas is too creative.
Nas won.
But but u are in the 1% minority. Ether made takeover irrelevant. Nobody ever say u got takeovered. They even had a takeover show back in 01 when everyone thought Jay ended Nas. Ether clearly went over your head. Ether was a psychological beat down and broke Sean Carter as insecure dude who loves the attention. Too much truth and science in ether.
Just blaze was sitting back looking like he waiting for large professor to say the wrong thing so he can defend Jay z..
These grown ass men need to stop being on the reserve. Nas destroy Jay Z and Rockefeller. Plain and simple. The beat might have been a little bit better on The takeover but the reason why Nas I feel pick that beat is because so you can indulged in the lyrics instead of the beat. In battle the beat is not important as much what’s most important is the lyrics. NAV was more lyrical it felt more authentic sell more factual in just a bit of rule over all song playing and simple
Exactly my thinking. He wanted you to focus more on what he was saying instead of the beat and he deaded they whole crew.
What facts did j drop please someone tell me
Takeover was not the better beat
King2084 I think so to
yeah this is not just blaze inteview....get him outta here. I KNOW he was apart of it and all that but pls....let Large Pro get off
Is Jack dead?
Herbellife Haze yes he passed brother
So basically Nas went light in ether. He had something stored away in case Jay came back with a worthy response to ether.
What the fuck? Ether >Takeover.
