@jonbatistemusic prend ses quartiers à Ground Control ! Le flamboyant louisianais saisie cette occasion pour nous initier à l’univers luxuriant de son sixième album : World Music Radio.
Enfant prodige de La Nouvelle-Orléans, Jon Batiste a débuté comme pianiste de jazz. Doublement diplômé de la célèbre Julliard School, il s'est depuis démultiplié : acteur dans la série Treme, soutien du mouvement Black Lives Matter, compositeur de musique de film, musicien attitré du Late Show de Stephen Colbert... Une hyperactivité récompensée : le musicien a reçu (entre autres) un Oscar pour la B.O. de Soul en 2021 et cinq Grammys en 2022. Jon Batiste est également le second compositeur noir de l’Histoire à avoir reçu un Academy Award, honneur partagé avec nul autre que Herbie Hancock.
Voix funky au flow chaleureux, cet éclectique, qui ornemente volontiers ses solos de Chopin ou Debussy, évolue vers un ample spectre, mixant pop, soul, rap, et plus si affinités. C'est l'esprit de son opus World Music Radio, bande-son foisonnante aux collaborations cosmopolites, dont Jon Batiste interprète des extraits pour Ground Control. Un concert à l'énergie festive, boosté par un solide orchestre et par les vocalises fiévreuses d'Alani Gibbon.

So I'm riding the subway in New York City about 2012ish. These three guys get on the train, one has a melodica, another has a small tuba/euphonium and the third I believe had a violin. They are playing jazzy arrangements of Christmas Carols and killing it. I reach for my wallet and pull out a little dollar, I give it to them. One of the young men introduces himself and I have a pleasant, brief conversation with him. Charming, very intelligent and intensely musical, he hands me his card. I am so glad I kept it, a few years later I see the same name start popping up everywhere. I am so excited and happy for your incredible and well-deserved success Jon Batiste. It even makes me pleased that I studied some French! All the best to you, there is no limit to what you can do.

That sax player! So good!
A magical moment happens at 17:10 up until 19:20 the way the instruments dance with each other along with the vocals is truly beautiful jamming. The passion is flowing strong in these 2 minutes, sending out energy into the universe to whoever is willing to feel it.

Jon is a very special and wonderful man! He draws the best people in to play with him, and in doing so creates something really unique and special. Not surprised he grew up in Nola, that city has such a great vibe!

Does he???. If ....he should do one and play in his very Batiste way with the ideas of his predecessors. Because billiant interpretations of the work of those composers are existing enough. But I would love to hear him interpretating it in his own way. As he did for example with Lennon McCarthy Blackbird.

Loved the beginning and end of this. As talented as the band is, I love to hear Jon on his piano with no autotune, just fresh, raw Batiste.

What is it that happens when we experience that? Is it an E•Motion(al) connection, Energy in motion, Electricity in motion? Is it a discharge from mybody, or my cells (with their electrical potential which, together, is an incredible amount). Or is it...
Wow, I just felt it again on my right arm after turning on the ceiling fan. And so I took my left palm and hovered it 2x or 3x the length of the hairs, as in distance away from the arm and I felt like my entire left palm was touching all those standing hairs on my left forearm, but they were definitely not touching and so it did feel as though there was energy being released at a high rate through each folicle and thus, each hair.

I have always seen how gifted you are and I hated watching Steven Colbert very rarely acknowledging you. And not putting you more into his dialog . I am so happy that you are free to be you . But please stay humble. Please. I love the humbleness of artists. But once they get into their head and lose the humbleness, yuck. Stay true to yourself and your wife.
