I tried to build one by your example, but in the assembly the frame is still in that default material pattern, while all the other parts are steel or whatever. I would be thankful for an advice on defining the material of single parts in the assembly.

Yes, it is an information table with coordinates of starting points and line length, inserted during the editing of the video.

Nice but plates could be created as sheet metal document and you could go one step further including weldments as a fine touch :)
