Was the most beautiful and daunting sound I ever heard as drifting off to sleep. It kind of woke me up and was so beautiful as I layer there listening as my heart was pounding in my chest ♡ somehow I knew it was a loon though I never heard before. ... it almost resembles a coyote but then I knew it was different. Has whopping looping sound to it. So beautiful. ♡

Never found them particularly scary, but there is a bit of a sad "siren's call" feel to it. If you want scary though, listen to elk mating calls. They sound like something from Jurassic Park.

for whatever reason, this sound was used as the death-sound of a particular mushroom like enemy in the videogame Dark Souls. Not to be misunderstood, it worked perfectly as whenever you hear the sound you hear something you would associate with a peaceful environment, and you question the action you took. This sound is used in a perfect scenario in that game, and it is beautiful in itself. so I guess I now know the reason why this particular sound was chosen...

I also love to gear the mourning dove call. It also sticks with you for the rest of your life. Waking up early on a hot, humid morning to them calling is the best feeling ever.

EraseMeWhole, we live way out in the country. We have coyotes, deer, wild turkeys, wild hogs, etc., but nothing makes me any happier than hearing the mourning doves and the Bob White. I even love the Canada Geese, although the fly from a neighbor's lake to roost in the peach orchards behind our house and honk all night long, I still love it!

I love waking up at the cabin in northern minnesota and sitting outside by the lake listening to the loons. On a sunny, 60 degree morning in July it is the most relaxing noise and there is no where I’d rather be in the world

I'll never forget my first time ever hearing a loons wail. It was at a cabin on Lake Brandy in Northern Minnesota. The sun had just set, and there was a storm brewing in the distance. Then came the loons beautiful yet sad sounding call. Absolutely chilling.
