The system is missing some files, i forgot what it was, but you need to put some files in the mlc01 system folder It also fixes some games that uses miis (eg. Minecraft)
if it's anything like dolphin, you need the mii maker file to run, similar to a game. it's surprisingly easy to find for wii, unsure about wii u tho considering they're broken in most major versions

Probably if you leave the console alone for a bit it will cause that to happen.
In Wii U like you click on the mii character then move your controller/finger when you are touching the characters (it only work in Wii U)
