I adopted my cat almost 18 months ago, she was less than a year old and very timid/ fearful. Flash forward to this morning, she came in from the garden about 20 mins ago, yelling her head off to me about the rain and wind outside (Her choice to go out) I offered her a rub with her towel, I keep it on the kitchen radiator so it's always warm, she was instantly happy, purring, head booping me, hopping up on a chair to get closer to me (And the warm towel of course) and nuzzling my hand. She is now curled up in one of her napping spots, having a snooze. I think it's fair to say she's pretty happy on the whole, I know when she's annoyed with me because she gives me a tail flip and walks away. More or less the cat version of a middle finger..lol.

Careful the radiator doesn't overheat. Fire or overheating damage could result. Always keep flammable materials at least 4 inches away from a heat source. Take care 🙂

Spoiled rotten children, they are very loved. If they are talking I like to pay close attention, water bowl, etc. Usually it's for more treats. I've had cats in the past that would have spats, but the 6 I have right now get along so well. I'm always kind of amazed at just how much they love each other. Cats are beautiful animals, even my feral he's just so sweet. He deserved a better life.❤🐈‍⬛🐈

I've have my sweet boy for 16 years, since he was a kitten. My husband and I make a point to sometimes respond to his meows as though we're having a conversation so he's a pretty chatty guy 😂
    /Meow/
    "Really?"
    /meow/
"I guess she didn't like the movie that much huh?"
    /meow/
"It's okay. You'll get em next time, bud."
    😅

I inherited a couple of cats that had the aggressive grooming issues, after my best friend passed away. It didn't take long for them to get out of that habit once they were with me. While they were around a lot of other cats in both places, I think that the attention I was giving them helped a lot, and there were a couple other cats that didn't come with them, and I think that there was conflict between them, so a combination of more attention and less stress.

I have 5 torties, and one grey/blue boy. Torties & calicos have the reputation of having tortitude however mine are extremely lovable, very affectionate, playful, talkative and I get a lot of compliments from our vet and others that meet them because they are “ not like others they have met”. Don’t get me wrong, they have their moments, just like we humans do when they are not their best however they are rare. I don’t spoil them per say but I ensure they have a balanced diet, proper hydration opportunities, good health and hygiene, an enriched environment with assortment of toys, they have their own space/ beds and they receive one on one time at their pace with me daily; some want more affection and time than others but I ensure all of them know they are loved and cared for. Lastly I use soft voice when I talk to them and redirect behaviors, I try not to yell at them but will use a lazer pointer to redirect their attention to something positive while distracting from the negative behavior. I find that this keeps the trust levels, keeps me from looking insane and reinforces positive behavior so negative behavior is fewer and far between. Kitties are like perma-toddlers and if you break the trust you may never get it back.
One of ours is a former found feral foster kitten. Long story short, she was surrendered by no fault of her own when she was almost 3, she wasn’t social and had aggressive behaviors that didn’t make her adoptable. I volunteer for a local group and took her in as a foster to help get her adopted. Over the last year I have been working with her. First to gain her trust, secondly to help her gain the trust of my daughter, husband. Extended family members and finally strangers. Once trust was established within the family unit, and consistent behavior changes observed, we slowly introduced her to petting, toys, playtime, and other feline family members & canine visitor friends in a controlled and monitored setting. Following the same principles we did when gaining her trust, slow, at her pace, encouraging and when consistent positive behavior was observed in those interactions, we progressed into integration in the family unit. In the last year she has come a very long way and we are very proud of her, she gets a little skiddish at times but she doesn’t immediately resort to aggressive behavior, as she did when she first came to our home and was isolated. She hasn’t shown aggression towards us in over 6 months, however she doesn’t really get along with 2 of our female cats and they are still establishing their relationship (they were the last to be introduced). They don’t fight but they avoid each other. She loves my two male cats and we frequently find them snuggling, playing and hanging around together. She follows my husband around the house and he is her favorite person (I guess you can say she is boy crazy?). She is very affectionate with my daughter and I and will tolerate other people that come to visit. She isn’t our first behavioral case and I am sure she will not be our last.
All of this to say, that consistency, empathy, patience, practice, love and compassion are all cornerstones in caring for these furbabies and having the best outcome and not having them as a case on the next episode of my cat from hell.

I feed a few cats outside…one is 5 or 6 & he takes care of this 1 1/2 year old since she first got here…he doesn’t “let” me pet him yet, but he’s coming around…I feed them three times a day and give them treats/nip, and I’m determined to take care of him & her forever

My female who isn't fixed has a bad very bad attitude. I got a dog & she tries to beat her up all the time. She is from a Happy home but has one major attitude & very loving but not with the dog or strangers.

Is there a reason you haven't had her fixed? I believe cats often calm down after being fixed so that may be a solution. With the dog, it could simply be that she dislikes having to share "her" home with another animal and sees the dog as a threat.

I never get a reply on any of my comments over the years so I guess I am blocked or spam Re: My colony young cat has lived with me 4 months . She is playful and smart but doesn't cuddle. She used to enjoy biscuit on me but uses her claws. Despite sleeping corduroy pants and 3 blankets she still breaks skin. I shake her off and yell oooow I see her feelings are hurt. What can I do?

For what it's worth, I can see your comment so you're not blocked at least. I'm sorry, I don't have any advice for this situation but from what you've said, I don't think she means to hurt you. Kneading or making biscuits is often a sign of contentment and shows that she trusts you, she's just being a bit overenthusiastic!

Have her nails trimmed. That's what we do. But even though if my cat's nails are not trimmed for some reason he never hurts me when making biscuits on me.

@@louisd95714 now that you mention it didn't hurt so much before and her nails were trimmed just 2 weeks ago at vet . IDK but she really gets into it mounts me so from my torso to ankles she works her way up and down. smh life goes on !
