When Starscream kills Cliffjumper, the Autobots see his life signal go offline. However, the rest of the show claims that the Nemesis’ shielding prevents them from tracking any Autobots who go onboard. So then they could not have known that Cliffjumper had died. It would have been the same as when Ratchet was onboard in Season 3, and they tried to locate the ship to rescue him. Cliffjumper should have been assumed to be a captive; don’t hold a funeral yet!
In Darkness Rising 3, for no reason at all, the Nemesis is at ground level, which allows the Autobots to get onboard. It seems like an even worse idea just after they kidnapped someone who works with the Autobots. It’s like they WANTED to give the Autobots the chance to rescue Fowler! It is the only time the Nemesis is just chilling, seemingly because the plot demanded it.

I can think of one plausible explanation:
Tracking someones location and reading their life signs are different, they don’t need to know where he is to know his condition. Which is why they couldn’t rescue him, they didn’t know where he was, they just knew he was dead.
It would be a sort of retcon for ratchet depending on how you look at it

Emperor Kumquat I could think of several reason why you could look at someone’s life signs and not their location, such as a built in heart monitor…or a spark monitor(?). They are robots, and Starscream didn’t exactly search Cliffjumper.

It always bothered me that we never got to see Knock Out reacting to Breakdown’s capture or death. Like, we could have seen Knock Out trying to convince Starscream to rescue Breakdown from MECH. They should have had at least a throw away line in “Crossfire” that Knock Out was grieving or that someone needed to tell him his partner was dead. Dreadwing likely sees it that Skyquake met his match and died fair and square, and is at peace with that as he sees for himself that Prime and Bumblebee are very tough opponents. This isn't to say he doesn't care about his twin being taken from him, but he also knows that this is a war and people die. Also, you would think that MAYBE Starscream been beaten up so badly by Megatron would generate some kind of pity in any of the other characters, but no, nobody cares, so you just feel bad for him and hope he will get a good ending. You also get some hope by the kind of friendship Knockout and Starscream seem to be developing and then in the movie... THEY RUIN EVERYTHING! Knockout betrays Starscream and joins the autobots easily and Starscream...apparently gets killed, or worse eaten, by the Predacons. (I know in RID it's revealed he escaped, but are we really going to count that show? It isn't a good sequel and Starscream's story of how he survived seems forced).

They missed a huge opportunity to do a satisfying callback when Knockout joined the Bots. It should have been Bulkhead who was in danger. Knockout could have saved him and said, "I guess today's your lucky day," quoting what Bulk said to Breakdown when he rescued him from MECH. It would have proved Optimus point for showing mercy and given the fans some payoff for Breakdown's (possible) aborted redemption arc.
Option B for better Knockout joining would have been if he'd been the one to treat Ultra Magnus after his Predacon mauling. It didn't make sense the bots would waste time contacting Earth and bridging Ratchet back when Knockout was right there in the hold and Magnus was badly hurt.
Also it was dumb Knockout didn't drive off to help Wheeljack when the Jackhammer was shot down. Ffs he's a medic and none of the other bots even suggest he go help?

It feels like they ignored him most of the time because they considered it too hard to give him development when the audience couldn't understand what he was saying. He had hardly any episodes dedicated to him, and his main arc was shared with Ratchet. Also he never seemed to be emotionally affected by getting possessed by Megatron and essentially bringing him back to life. You would have thought he would feel some guilt for that, especially since he was so close to not doing it.

A lot of these things you pointed out aren't writing problems, but production limitations. The animation models were incredibly expensive and difficult. They couldn't have Knockout and Breakdown in the early episodes because that would've been blowing almost their entire seasons' budget right out of the gate.
Makeshift couldn't appear more because they would've needed to develop a full model for him. Notice how he only appears as a silhouette and his body is just a modification of Knock Out's body. That's purely budgetary. (And TFP still probably had the biggest budget of any TF show yet.) There's a lot more to the production and the episode than just the writing of it.
Plot holes don't *Necessarily* break a show for me. I guess I can live with the relics not coming into play more often, but I COMPLETELY agree about wasting Breakdown! And Dreadwing!! They just *gave up* on EVERY characters' arcs by the end and that my biggest disappointment by the show.

He needs to be getting reinforcements somewhere. I would have liked a quick line that they were off-planet or they were tied up fighting Autobots elsewhere and came to Megatron's aid. It's only necessary for worldbuilding reasons to make it seem like the war is still going on but no one has the resources to launch a campaign like Star Wars. Especially since a usual plot for the Autobots would be that they are running out of soldiers or resources to even tackle Megatron.

Since in the show, we don’t see terrorcons transform into their vehicle modes, and the zombie predacons confined in their beast modes, it’s most likely that Airachnid and the insecticons ended up burning their own energon reserves and shut down permanently as they were trapped on the moon.

@@ratfarmer1 What Brooke means is that Soundwave somehow came back through the Shadowzone in RID15, after he got stuck there in the Beast Hunters finale. However, cybertronians need energon to survive, and there were very few energon sources for Soundwave.
Now I think that way of defeating soundwave is dum on its own because he can summon groundbridges at will. It’s the whole reason he got stuck in the first place, it’s how he dealt with Arachnid and the Wreckers in the same season/episode. It’s seen that Starscream and the kids use groundbridges to get out of the shadow zone by just going through them. So then why is Soundwave not immediately back after the humans deal with him?
However, with all that said, it’s possible prime made another lore oopsie and forgot about anything that made Soundwave’s energon reserves similar to other decepticons’, because it’s possible Soundwave’s special status as some more robotic transformer allowed him to initiate stasis for a certain period of time or not need energon at all. Maybe laserbeak was even sent out, and soundwave just used the shadow zone to stay safe while he planned to bring Megatron back.

For me personally, I feel like Knock Out could've had better development too. Megatron barely cared when Breakdown died, and with Breakdown's loyalty to him, I'm surprised Knock Out wasn't more upset about that. There are multiple moments that could've been building towards KO planning on jumping factions ever since then. Megatron didn't care when he was hit by a train, and tells him to repair Soundwave's face-glass-thing? instead. He's shown to be clearly upset that Shockwave had taken over as the ship's scientist, taking his lab, and now KO's only used as the occasional nurse. During Thirst, he could've reacted more to Airachnid escaping, because she was the one who killed Breakdown. So during Synthesis+Deadlock, instead of KO, just, hiding the whole time, literally doing nothing, he decides to help Ratchet escape earlier on, and join the Autobots mid-battle.
If Starscream's development was handled better too, then he may be trying to get KO back on the Con side, and KO tries to get SS on the Bot side.
And then, completely unrelated, I don't want to be that one person, but I feel like there could've been an entire Season 4 instead of only the Predacons Rising special. We could see how all the main characters feel about actually winning, and wondering what they're going to do with their lives now, while trying to restore Cybertron. There'd be screen time showing how the humans are on earth, and how they're dealing w/ the Bots being gone. Meanwhile, Starscream and Shockwave being on the loose together would've made a great side plot, as they're trying to rebuild armies, and are somewhat questioning if all of their planning is worth it. They could find Airachnid on her moon, and try to experiment/use her, or team up with her (probably experiment/use her tho). We could see Knock Out actually develop, like I described earlier. The season could build up to the threat of Megatron/Unicron returning to finally destroy Cybertron. And then, not to get too fan fiction-y, but the All Spark could be returned at the beginning of the season, and we'd get a new cast of characters, rebooting the G1 Movie/S3-4 cast (and maybe throw in a TFRB reference somewhere in there, I don't know...).
I guess what I'm saying is that I wish RID15 explored Cybertron after the war more asdfghjkl.
But idk, those are just my thoughts.

That was the biggest head-scratcher for me because that was Arcee's perfect chance to kill Airachnid and she didn't even take it. This episode also happened BEFORE the episode Partners, so it's not like you can even argue Arcee's motivation had dwindled by this point.

Rewrite of Starscream's arc, a way to combine elements from G1 and Armada:
In the three years Megatron is not leading, it is not Starscream who leads but someone else. Starscream believes he would be a better Decepticon leader. Then, whoever is in charge dies during Darkness Rising, alongside Megatron (although Megs death is only temporary). Finally Starscream can prove he can be a better leader than Megatron!
Except he fails. He fails in defeating the Autobots. The Decepticons start to loose battle after battle, and then Megatron comes back and kicks his aft. Starscream's belief that he would be a better Decepticon Leader are called into question. He still believes in the Decepticon cause, but even now he is starting to wonder if he's still fighting for the same cause they started back on Cybertron.
Then Starscream gets kicked out of the Decepticons, and he has all this time to think. He thinks about who he is, and where he fits in the Autobot Decepticon War. During this, Starscream starts to grow as a person / character, growing more towards his Armada portrayal. Then, Starscream sees a way back into the Decepticon Ranks with the Omega Keys, a way to restore Cybertron. He rejoins the Cons, but he is no longer focused on fighting the Autobots, now all he wants is Cybertron back. When Megatron decides to use the Omega Lock first on Earth, Starscream is displeased but goes along with it.
Then as Season 3 progresses, he tries to earn Megatron's respect back, and tries to steer the Decepticon's back to their original goal from when they first formed. But no matter how hard he tries, Megatron ignores him and pushes him down. Then the finale happens, and Starscream realizes Megatron is going to waste the Omega Lock on Earth, and wait to use it on Cybertron. Knowing the Autobots would rather the Omega Lock be destroyed then used on Earth, Starscream betrays the Cons and allies with the Autobots (Not joining them as an Autobot) under the condition that the Omega Lock be saved. Megatron is killed and Cybertron revived. Starscream, willingly, allows himself to be imprisoned.
The movie happens and Unicron is trying to destroy Cybertron. The Autobots won't let Starscream help so he takes matters into his own hands and breaks free, but instead of trying to run away, he joins in the battle against Unicron. Maybe he dies like his Armada Counterpart, taking one last suicidal shot at Unicron, or maybe he lives to see a new golden age? Who knows.

The thing that also bothered me was that for some reason the show tried to make us believe that Jack was the "special' kid. The story began with him, he was the oldest in the group, his mother was the only parent character who discovered that her child is hanging out with robots from space, and most of all, Jack was the one who got the key to Vector Sigma, bcs... Optimus saw how much he have changed..? Which I honestly did not understand. The one human character who actually got more focus on themselves and actually grew was Miko. Raf was just the same for the entire show, but at least he was useful for the story and got an great chemistry with Ratchet. But what is also indicative for me is that if you cut Jack from season 3, pretty much nothing will change.
This lack of human characters development really bothered me. We were never told why Raf can understand Bumblebee. We were never told why Miko is so passively aggressive to her host parents.
I also was dissapointed by the end of the 2nd season and 3d season bcs human characters just so easily let go the autobots, knowing they might never meet each other again (which RID kidna proves bcs no character from Prime tried to contact or at least talked about their human friends), and the authors are telling me that Miko never even threw a temper tentrum about autobots leaving...? They never talked about this even tho they should have, especially bcs bots been keeping this a secret for some time. So I was expecting this to become a plot line, which, unfortunetly, was kinda thrown into a trash can.

The far more powerful space bridge probably isn't bothered by the comparatively puny energy of a ground bridge in its proximity, the way a second ground bridge portal would be. I despise how the show kills off cliffjumper right away establishing a level of intensity that was never lived up to again. At least if they had committed to killing bumblebee at the end, there would have been a nice bookend to the series. In retrospect, the pilot feels like "click bait". The autobot cast grew stale fast. Bringing in wheeljack for only 1 episode in season one was torture. When we finally get a new regular in smokescreen, the cast is so fleshed out that there's no new dynamic. In "exodus" it's explained that Trypticon is the Nemesis, however in TFP there's no in show explanation for the personality that is the nemesis. Thank you for addressing the Raf situation with Bumblebee. Imagine if TF animated season 2 ended with Sari discovering she's a machine and then never spoken of again. That's how the Raf situation frustrates me! Also didn't Jack have a love interest? In my fics, the vehicons are the cold-constructs (also makes more sense than cold-constructs looking different from each other), at the bottom of the caste system, and have always been the majority of the Decepticons and the ones Megatron rallied up in backstory. It'd also explain the Autobots' dehumanization of vehicons.

Personally, I always wondered why season 3 fell short from the first two seasons. Like how do you go from collecting relics and character flashbacks to barely hunting a single beast? At the time, I was so confused I literally went back and re watched season two for the second time just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I know writers like to play off time skips but I feel like even the tiniest bit of plot could have been put there leading into season three, not Shockwave digs in the sand, finds bones then boom! Beast hunters

The biggest things I hate about TFP was wasted story potential and character development. The end of the season when Optimus lost his memory and was kidnapped by Megatron was unbelievable. I couldn't wait to see the next episode. Ratchet reveals that Megatron and Optimus used to be friends, great I love that drama. How's it shown? A few stills of a blue optic Megatron and Optimus talking and then the senate meeting, then bitter enemies forever. I thought they showed this in order to setup Megatron trying to turn Optimus to his side permanently to his side maybe half a season but no he's not interested in that at all and the plot point lasts two episodes only for things to back to normal...why even bother bringing up the friendship backstory if it wasn't important?

I’m not real good at the Words Thing, but something that will forever dampen Prime for me is how *little* they cared about interpersonal relationships.
Obviously, the autobots love each other, but aside from a select few examples, we don’t actually know how they feel about each other individually. There’s occasionally hints of a dynamic, but we rarely get any in depth exploration. Why were Cliff and Arcee partners if no one else was, especially with Arcee’s preexisting trauma? What is Ratchet’s relationship to Bumblebee? Why does Ratchet never truly blow up at Bulkhead; how did they get to this point? When did they all meet? Why is Bumblebee simultaneously the Baby and also The Forgotten One? Who is most likely to gang up on who? Who has inside jokes?
And that’s not even mentioning the Decepticons! How long have KO and Scream known each other? Have Breakdown and Knockout always been a package deal? How did they meet? How did they learn to work with each other? Dreadwing is a Seeker but also a legendary warrior… apparently. So how does that factor into his relationship with Starscream? Why is Megatron Like That and does he care about Soundwave anymore? What’s Soundwave’s opinion on Starscream? He seemed content enough during his 3 year rule! And are there any true friendships in the Decepticons, or are is the environment they’re in too harsh for that?
And what about cross faction relationships? How does Bulkhead feel about losing Breakdown? Can Knockout actually relate to any of the autobots other than maybe Ratchet? What’s Megatrons opinion of Ratchet, who he likely knew somewhat intimately before the war through Orion?
The characters have so much potential that never gets realized and it’s so frustrating! (And there’s also how they treat Starscreams abuse and Arcees trauma but I’m not going to get into All That right now.) I adore this show, it’s what got me into Transformers in the first place, but my love for the characters paradoxically makes it hard to watch because they just keep missing the mark!
(Like! I could buy that Dreadwing is more mad at his brother being raised from the dead than from him being killed, because it was established that he is totally down for an honorable death for The Cause. I don’t buy it because Skuquakes death was not honorable, on both the Decepticon and Autobot sides. PLAY WITH THAT! Bumblebee ripped out his guts! The Decepticons knew that his brother was there and they had done NOTHING! What does Dreadwing think about that?
OR! I could have totally bought Knockout being completely neutral towards Breakdowns body, if not his life. Like, show him upset that his partner is dead, but still being down to play with the body because it doesn’t mean anything to him. It makes sense for his character to not really care who’s body is on his table once they’re gone! Just give him some development, make him just a bit more grey! He’s an evil doctor, dammit!
The Decepticons would be 100x more interesting if all of their relationships were disguised as hollow, but are actually way deeper. I can totally buy that they’ll turn on each other even if they were friends, so long as they REGRET IT LATER!! Not even for selfless reasons either!! If knockout just had a moment of “oh who will I gossip with now?” after betraying Starscream I could die happy. LET THE DECEPTICONS HAVE COMPLICATED, GREY RELATIONSHIPS, AND BE COMPLICATED, GREY CHARACTERS!
..wow, this is unfocused as fuck. I’m so sorry)

I love this show, but it does suffer these flaws. It is by no means unwatchable (that was siege), but prime’s always considered a perfect transformers show.
The 2 points I see as the biggest flaws were the decepticon’s characterizations & use and the unresolved plot points(why can Raf talk to bumblebee; arachnid, etc.)To fix these problems I would’ve done this:
    1. Make the decepticons & the autobots talk more about things in the show. That way all the characters get more personality and could lead to decepticons like Breakdown & Starscream getting different endings.
    2. Makeshift: I would’ve made Makeshift survive the bomb and become Starscream’s version of Soundwave, only not mute. Meanwhile, Breakdown would start to question his loyalty to Megatron and him , bulkhead, & Makeshift could even become friends because of this. When Breakdown goes with Dreadwing to kill airachnid, he instead tries to save her, but she still kills him, however Makeshift followed them and we’d get a fight between them where Makeshift calls the autobots & starscream for help. Arriving at the same time, both sides would be confused and angry, until they saw both Makeshift & Breakdown in pieces, on the verge of death. They’d both say that they’re sorry for their actions in the past and that they never became allies, before returning to the allspark. This could’ve progressed everyone significantly: the autobots would be less violent to decepticons, and stascream & knockout could’ve even joined the autobots to honor them.
    3. Airachnid: I think she should’ve been transported to our moon instead of cybertrons. That way, in RID 2015, we could get an airachnid arch were she tries to turn all cybertronians into her undead subjects. You could even bring Blackarachnia as her sister wanting to stop her.
4 Raf: honestly, I got nothing. I never found how he was the only person to understand him. Maybe his ancestors have a history with cybertronians, maybe he’s part alien and he doesn’t. I seriously have no clue in this part.

Another area where I feel like TFP really dropped the ball was with trauma, especially with Bumblebee and Smokescreen. We get some overt references with Arcee, and more subtle hints with Ratchet, Starscream, and Knockout, but I feel like the youngsters are WAY too ok given everything that’s happened to them. Bumblebee had his entire capacity for speech taken away from him, and the only time it really comes up is during the Operation Bumblebee episodes. I can imagine time has eased his pain a bit, but still.
Smokescreen is the most egregious example, at least in my opinion. Man was betrayed by the closest person he had to a father figure, locked in stasis for longer than Cybertron has been dead, and was physically violated by Knockout in Inside Job. And never once is any of this even MENTIONED. Honestly, I would have loved to see a scene where someone told him just how long he’d been asleep, just to see how he would react. I love his energy, but I can’t help but feel like it sort of spits in the face of his backstory

He knew that if his brother died, he died serving his faction, and that was that. They are at war, one could hardly expect Dreadwing to want to avenge his brother if Skyquake no longer had to suffer the effects of the war. But when he discovers that Starscream dishonored his brother by turning him into a zombie, then that's different.

Looking back as much as I like TFP, I feel like it has too many underdeveloped ideas and weak payoffs:
The potential of Breakdown changing sides....wasted. Seriously they couldn't even be bothered to get a new voice actor for him. Another potential Decepticon who could turn good or at least neutral (Dreadwing), and it all amounts to nothing. Again.
Starscream possibly forming his own faction or at least staying independent: Goes no where and he ends up crawling back to Megatron.
Insecticons appearing on earth: No bloody explanation.
Bulkhead possibly dying or permanently crippled: Goes nowhere. By episode 46, Bulkhead is alive and healed!
    Arcee killing Airachnid: Never happened.
Exploring the possible corruption in the cybertron government: Mentioned but never fully Explored.
Nemesis coming to life: never brought up again.
More humans learning about the Autobots: Never happened.
Predacons: We only get 3 because the stupid executives cancelled the show so project Pred is rendered pointless.
Cylus joining the cons: amounts to nothing. He ends up being a lab experiment and dying in Thirst.
Transforming robots controlled by MECHZ: They only make one (Nemesis Prime) and abandon the plan afterwards so it amounted to fucking nothing.
Ratchet resenting Prime for destroying the omega lock and destroying their one chance to restore their home: never truly explored.
I could go on but you get the idea. This is why I prefer TF Animated more. It was more creative, actually developed some of its plots and ideas more throughly (or at least as best as they could) and the cast were better developed. They actually had the balls to kill off a main character in the last episode. I wish we got S4 instead of Prime.

I completely agree with what you said about where Starscream ended as a character. I didn't like that he went right back to where he was at the end of Predicons Rising and didn't develop at all. There were hints of him having good in him or at least a sense of honor. I feel like him saving Arcee and freeing her could have been huge for his character growth. There are several times in the show he almost casually talks to the autobots. I'm not saying he had to join the autobots cuz I don't think that would have worked (what with him being the killer of Cliffjumper) but he could have remained rogue but been more on the side of good or at least a gray area. It frustrated me that after everything that happened to him, he didn't change in the slightest. I also agree with what you said about Knockout turning on him in the movie. Apparently being told to shut up was enough for him to switch sides.
I'm glad you brought up how nobody talks about anything cuz that bothered me too. Very important things happen and they seem to just kind of move on and never talk about them again. Knockout being unaffected by Breakdowns death was odd. I remember waiting to see KO again so I could see how he reacted and he was his same old self. He seemed very indifferent to Breakdowns death which bugged me. I loved the Decepticons, but I didn't like that they were all like 100% evil all the time with no depth, no friendships, nothing and no one they cared about and no change. I didn't expect Megatron or Soundwave to change but the fact that Starscream, Breakdown and Dreadwing seemed like they were going down that path only for the arcs to be snuffed out, half-baked or entirely thrown away was frustrating.
    End of rant.

Skyquake (sorry if I got the wrong one) perhaps views death as a resting place for warriors (like Valhalla). When Starscream broght him back from the dead, in Skyquake's eyes, he technically robbed him of his brother's right to rest (and perhaps honour), therefore he sees Starscream's actions as far worse than Bee's actions.
Perhaps even Skyquake (who has some understanding of honour) thinks of his brother's death as the cost of war.
    This is my theory.

Guh thank you for pointing these out, I always felt pessimistic about Prime when looking at character developments, now I know why.
The ~24 predacons dying bothered me so much, because:
    (1) I love dragons
    (2) The season took a lot of time in showing the struggle of fetching the predacon bones
    (3) Predaking reacted so, so pissed - I liked him for seeming "noble" &
    (4) Shockwave's development.
I have a big suspicion that Shockwave was going to overthrow Megatron. That he knew of Predaking being able to transform at some point but he got dragged around with different tasks that he didn't pay attention to When it'd be likely to happen. Didn't Shockwave experiment with making bots have alternate forms on his backstory? It'd make sense he tried pushing for predacons to transform, or at least, the years he spent creating Predaking, he tried manipulating his CNA to do so.
(How would Skylynx and Darksteel know how to transform without Predaking's example? Would be funny to imagine Starscream and Shockwave transforming in front of them trying to get them to do the same lmaoo).
Back to the staged death of the predacons...Why would he risk injury in battle, taking a moment to release the premature predacons, leaving quickly thereafter, without any apparent reason to do so?
My guess is, he wanted to create a distraction to get away from the battle safely. But we see him shoot before jumping into the ground bridge, giving away his location.
My other guess is, he hoped some of them survived. He hoped to tell Predaking about Megatron’s betrayal himself... And use that momentum to get rid of Megatron.
Maybe he sees Megatron as a bad leader, wasting resources, taking unnecessary risk, etc. We see Shockwave ask Megatron why Cyberform Earth? Like, why use resources that we can use for revitalizing Cybertron... on another planet? Perhaps Shockwave did have a plan, to get back on the development that is protecting Cybertron. (Shown on Predacons Rising by telling the predacons to help the Autobots).
You're right about there being lacking character reactions. Yet I feel like Shockwave was written to do more, but the short time didn't allow for it.

I think the reason why I don’t care much for transformers prime can be best summed up by comparing the series opener to the animated opener. Animated‘s first episode is so smooth, it flows flawlessly and doesn’t waste our time with anything, prime kills off a main character in the first episode and then expects us to care about him seasons later when he’s already dead and the damage of the terrible writing has already been done. Prime also is all over the place in episode one introducing us to so many places things and people it’s such a mess. And while yes prime did eventually find its footing I can’t help but compare the first episode of prime to the first episode of animated, it really says it all.

TFP is hands down my favorite show maybe EVER. But what I always didn't understand (besides the video - grateful for the amazing content btw!!) is that
    1. Why is Prime so cruel to the Predacons?
Yes they were combatting at first because Predaking wants to show his gratitude for the Cons for bringing him/his species back to life. But if Optimus can be so kind to humans, so kind so that he can't even stand a single human casualty in their war against the Decepticons, how could he possibly feel no qualm watching and hurting the Predacons, who is also an innocent species from their same home planet no less, get caught up in this war?? Optimus didn't even try to talk reasons to or help the Predacons even after Predaking left the Cons as if they were nothing but mindless beasts. This just doesn't make any sense to me and isn't something Optimus would do, NOT without more reasons!!
    2. Why wouldn't Optimus let Megatron save Cybertron, or vice versa??
The reason that Megatron would "use it" to his political advantage is just, not, convincing. It's very clear to me that reviving their home planet Cybertron is the top priority for both parties. It's absurd to fight life and death over the same goal, it's not like they can't continue to fight after their planet is saved. And it seems like the writers realized that at the end of season two as well therefore forced "cybertronizing earth" into the Con's plan. But still, the fight over "who gets the credit" before that was ridiculous and doesn't seem like what the sensible Optimus or Megatron character would do.
PS laughed so hard at the forced "beast hunters" line 😂😂😂

I personally think it would’ve been cool if Makeshift took on the form of Cliffjumper to lure Arcee into a trap or something. Or better yet, take on Optimus Prime’s form and destroy the Autobots from within. Endless headcanon and fanfiction possibilities for those who are interested.

Personally my problem with TFP is mainly about Bee, the precious and my favourite boi. Arcee had trauma that they randomly squished in, yet Bee has had an opening the whole time. He’s a precious character who’s gone through so much direct traumatic situations. He had Megatron rip his voice box out of his throat, had Megatron ENTER HIS FRAGGIN MIND and had his organ trafficked (not my fault that they considered a T-cog an organ.) at the very least they should’ve given him more reactions to any references to his voice box, aside from that one time he got mad at smokescreen.

I know this is an old comment, but I was really expecting them to do more with Bumblebee as well. In the S3 episode where Soundwave is taken hostage, there's a part at the beginning where Bumblebee gets frustrated about not being able to speak. This immediately made me think they would do a cool parallel later in the episode with Soundwave - maybe since he knew Bumblebee before his voice box was ripped out (correct me if I'm wrong), he could use recordings of Bumblebee's old voice to taunt him or the other Autobots while he was captured. But nahhhhhh, it ended up going nowhere as always lol

Holy frag! Dude that’s actually an awesome concept! If you decide to write down a story with that, lemme know because that sounds like such an interesting twist on the episode.
Now I’m even more mad that they didn’t do that.
They really ditched E V E R Y chance to create Bee angst. They literally created a Operation Bumblebee and then gave up on the canonical angst.
Like even while rewatching it, I realised that they had a lot of setups for ANY Bumblebee angst.

I fully agree...Both Bee and Soundwave were absolutely WASTED in this show in terms of angst/plot potential. I'm a sucker for both characters so that episode was a letdown.

You tell me when and where it’s written. I need it in my life.
Also the voice box is a very sore spot for Bumblebee, but also for Ratchet too. Like if Soundwave started just relaying previous audio of Bumblebee- HOLY FRAG if Soundwave somehow had the audio from Bee’s interrogation all the way to a few seconds after Megatron rips out his voice box, could you imagine him starting to play /that/ kind of audio.
Where it starts with the first question Megatron asked Bee and he stops it, then continues, then stops and keeps going with that pattern.
Not only taunting Bee with his own voice, but taunting him with the reply of when he lost it.
With all the stopping, it’s not quick.
-pardon, I got a tad bit carried away.

@@KeefACorn Don't you dare apologize, that is an absolutely INCREDIBLE idea oh my lord--
Like the Autobots' interrogation of Soundwave seems to be going normally until he slowly manages to hit Bumblebee (and Ratchet) where it hurts, slowly recreating the experience, and in the resulting chaos when one of them lashes out he manages to free himself.
Do you know how long Bumblebee had been without his voicebox before TFP? I'll probably need to do a bit of rewatching. Starting up Google Docs as we speak lol.

12:21 If anyone is aware of the 2015 RID series, Starscream survived the Predacons’ wrath by “accidentally” obliterating them. Now, he hides in the shadows, collecting minicons to upgrade himself to get even with Megatron for all the abuse he had to endure and take over Cybertron. Yeah, I would ignore 2015 RID as well.

I always wonder why so many interesting plots or characters were so easily passed over for the sake of other characters or plots. Like having the characters who died be around for more episodes have their friends show more feelings about it, sometimes it felt like they were rushing for no reason.
I'm not sure if sometimes the writers just forgot about stuff or were too focused on other things and then used questionable writing to try and sort it out or get to where they want. TFP is an amazing show but there are some writing choices that bug me especially when it feels like it could have been done better. Like one scene that drives me insane is when they leave the ground bridge open and speedy starscream runs into their base steals the keys and gets away. It was frustrating because they normally don't leave the ground bridge open like that and it just felt like lazy writing. Starscreams back and forth character development was also frustrating at points. It's like they want impactful character development but don't want to really change their characters too much.
Very good video about some of the frustrating choices in writing in this show.

I do remember starscream making a comment to optimus during the episode triangulation stating something along the lines of how he spared arcee's life, and all optimus did was dismiss this as being in starscreams own selfish interests, I did not like that at all because although that may have been true, it seems as though optimus is asking for peace, but then disregards any positive things that could at least be a starting point for some sort of change, he did not have to dismiss starscream like that, it just seemed cold.

Optimus has been a bit inconsistent in terms of charecter tbh in s1 he was a pacifist who desired peace between both factions, in s2 he got more cold and ruthless and in s3 he became a better inspirational leader these traits are not mutually exclusive they co exist in the end

And one thing I noticed is that MECH knew were Jack and his mother were living. So why did they not go back and kidnap him to get information about the Autobots? And Airachnid also knew were they live. And why didn't she take them too to get information were the the Autobot base was located? Also one thing that really disappointed me was when MECH was thrown out of the show, they were really interesting and cool. And I want to know more about these guys. There were not that many agents at the place when SIlas became C.Y.L.A.S so we can hope they are still out there.

A lot of these holes and flaws would have been solved had the show had an older target audience in mind, but because it was targeted for the younger generation they didn't bother making it 100%. Which is very unfortunate- I so would have liked Starscream to have gotten a redemption arc. I also think Skyquake would've been better represented had he been introduced in a later season when the production had a better grip, though I think even then a lot of people wouldn't have really cared about him still LOL
