I know it's cliche to hate on them , but I REALLY despise the parody genre of the early 2000s.
Knock, knock. Who’s there? Ida. Ida who? I think it’s pronounced Idaho.
All of these are awful and not funny but I am one of the few who didn't think they would be good at all based on cast and premise and trailers for them.
@@Funny.Man101 you are not funny
So many subscribers and so few comments. This is embarrassing.
And the main component of bad comedies seems to be the presence of Will Farrell...
Farrell is capable of doing good roles and can be funny but he so oftentimes settles for doing crap.
...or Eddie Murphy (in the past 20 years)...or Adam Sandler (in the past 20 years)....
He is in some of my favorite movies!
That line from Bewitched was so bad it inspired Stewie to board a flight from Rhode Island to California and purchase a ladder so he could show up at Will Ferrell’s door, slap him and say that’s not funny 😂
I'm not surprised the hangover sequels didn't work, the first one was lightning in a bottle, you don't get it twice.
Year one doesn't belong here. Not awful.
Agreed! I loved that movie. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say they didn’t like it
The Sausage and Mash I had for tea went well while watching this list
I wouldn't exactly say I love Year One, but it's ok. It has laugh out loud moments. Jack Black is Jack Black in it. I enjoyed it. Yet another example of WatchMojo just saying what they think people want to hear and not having their own opinion.
I expected Master Of Disguise to be here.
I thought the movie would just be a decent to average comedy with 3-5 funny bits holding it together.
Boy, was it everything but
I’m sorry but Year One is an underrated gem
I went into the Three Stooges movie, expecting something hilarious because I loved the stooges when I was a kid. Not once did I hear anybody laugh in the whole theater. It was one of the most awkward movie going experiences I’ve ever had.
Still appreciate the film for what it is and the parts with the Jersey shore cast getting abused by Moe makes me laugh now.
I actually liked year one.
I dont think Year one was THAT bad TBH
I saw it on the thumbnail and was like 🤔🤨 I watched it atleast 4 or 5 times in my life and enjoyed every one
Year one is hilarious so many funny parts it's the peak of Micheal Cera and Jack Black, they are so good together on screen, and so many funny scenes like the cougar attack or Cane and Able
Like when they saw and rode a hay wagon for the first time ever. Comedy gold lol
Agreed. Jack Black is basically hilarious in whatever he does
Yeah I love that movie
Year One wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but it had it's moments.
"Upside down prisoner has to pee!!!"
Lol
Hey, I love You're Highness!
I actually remember enjoying Year One as a kid. I could watch anything with Jack Black in it tho and at least mildly enjoy myself lol.
When a movie spends too much money with casting, extravagant wardrobe and exotic locations
You know that very little was spent on making a decent script
Norbit is one of the funnies movies i have ever watch
Yea, this top is sht, year one was awesome too..
It’s because it goes against woke
Bro that’s what I’m saying and it made this list
Norbit is a classic
Thank you
Son Of The Mask, Big Mama's House 3, That's My Boy, Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves! Home Alone 4, and the other uncessary Home Alone sequels, The Tooth Fairy 2, Jingle All The Way 2, Tomorrowland, The Time Machine, A Wrinkle In Time, The Golden Compass, Planet Of The Apes(2001), The Cat In The Hat, The Three Stooges, and other bad movies should've been on the list. 🎬🚔🎬🎬🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥📺
This was focused on comedies. I liked the Time Machine btw
Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves! Was the only version of that film series I saw as a kid and only now I find out it was bad. 😢
Other comedy movies you find terrible did we missed:
Son of the Mask (2005)
Rebound (2005)
Kangaroo Jack (2003)
Smokey and the Bandit II (1980)
Smokey and the Bandit Part 3 (1983)
Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992)
Big Momma's House 2 (2006)
What's the Worst That Could Happen? (2001)
Hot Tub Time Machine 2 (2015)
Joe Somebody (2001)
etc.
How can you show the “it’s turkey time” scene from gigli without the “gobble gobble” ???? 😂
Norbit is basically at hood classic status now. That means this is an insult 😂😂😂
Love that movie
On Rotten Tomatoes the film has an approval rating of 9% based on 124 reviews, with an average rating of 3.6/10, with the site's consensus reading, "Coming off his Oscar-nominated performance in Dreamgirls, the talented-but-inconsistent Eddie Murphy plays three roles in Norbit, a cruel, crass, stereotype-filled comedy that's more depressing than funny."[9]
Yeah Classic Razzie (0%-50%)
Catwoman level 9%
Trash movie
Literally! I love this movie and still quote it to this day!
That list needs a redo, Year One was hilarious, and it seems the comment section agrees!
I did not expect Howard The Duck to be bad. Sadly, I saw it, loved it, and found out the hard way that it is not very popular.
Does it matter what other people think tho? Just enjoy whatever you like...I'll be honest, none, and I mean none of this were bad for me. Watched and enjoyed them all...
Year one is hilarious…
Ghostbusters from 2016 should be high on this list.
I like that movie
The backlash against the trailer indicates otherwise.
Nah, everyone expected it to be shit except for irrational "feminists".
"...that no-one expected to be awful." So it doesn't qualify, sadly.
They made up for it with Afterlife.
I like Year One lol. Not great but I laughed.
I love that disaster with all my heart!
🥉
I loved the "dishonorable" mention Bewtitched!! I want Isabelle's house, cat, witching abilities and I thought Nicole Kidman was cute and sweet. It's one of my go-to movies when I need a pick me up.
I liked that movie too. I thought it was really well made.
The one thing that stands out to me in Hangover 2 was Stu’s Asian father-in-law. Naturally, the in-laws are not suppose to like you, but DAMN Mr. Srisai is an outright asshole.
I love Michael Cera, Jack Black AND Year One!
Same!
Sometimes a stupid movie is the best way to relax at the end of the week 😅
Year one is funny.
"Howard the Duck" was and is one of my favorite movies from when I was a kid. If anyone else has anything different to say, I'll show them my black belt in Quack-Fu.
Year One was hilarious
Howard The Duck was a MASTERPIECE in cinema!!
Norbit is a cult classic
Oddly enough Norbit technically was nominated for an Oscar too 😂😂 people forget that
I'd switch "Hangover part 2" with "Hangover part 3". Part 2 was like bland version of the original one, but as for quality they didn't differ that much from each other. Part 3 was indeed unwatchable.
9:11 Considering I've not seen either of the Zoolander films, I actually don't know if it was Ben Stiller or the studio who decided the sequel needed to have more celebrity cameos but I also heard according to Stiller that this film is supposed to take place in 2015 (when it was being filmed) to focus on today's modelling industry, whether or not it was taken a bit literally since the first film was made in 2001.
I would disagree that most of these movies was a surprise that they were awful.
Glad to see Year One is FINALLY being realized for the unfunny garbage it is!
Skid Marks (2007) This Is a Movie That Doesn't come up during Conversation and for good reason It was a massive flop that rivals Freddie Got Fingered (2001) yes It was That bad I hated drudging up repressed memories but here I am today
Year one was absolutely hilarious
If Howard the Duck was released today, I think would have been well-received today. 🎉
as a 13 year old seeing it in theaters, Year One was the funniest film of all time lol XD
Fanboys made me unspeakably angry. Obnoxious, annoying characters and juvenile humour
Hangover part 2 - we were all expecting a great movie. What we got was a retelling of the first movie with Zach Galifianakis' character going from lovable special ed guy to completely obnoxious full-blown autistic douchebag.
Howard the Duck - many people don't know that we have this movie to thank for Pixar Studios. George Lucas was so convinced in the potential success of the movie he sunk EVERYTHING he had into it, and lost his shirt. He ended up selling a new studio he had created to Steve Jobs to recoup his losses, and that studio became Pixar.
Wow! That is very mind blowing! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
'Movies NO ONE Expected To Be Awful'? I'm calling bull on that statement. As a fan of the original Howard The Duck comic book from the 1970's, and seeing how marvel had mismanaged the character since then, I knew the movie was going to suck.
I expected Year One to be awful. It’s Jack Black and Michael Cera. Come on! Red flag!
OK, I do not know anyone who expected Howard the Duck, Norbit, Holmes and Watson (and most other Will F movies), both Zoolanders, The Love Guru and Year One to be anything but awful. Just the trailers were more of these pieces of trash than I want to see.
The only good thing I got out of Year One...it reminded me of a somewhat passable modern-day version of Monty Python's The Life of Brian. Still had me rolling in laughter, tho.
I would argue that quite a lot of people expected these movies to be awful.
The only laugh I got out of 'The Love Guru' was the line "Let's make like a baby and head out." Other than that one line, the movie was an absolute travesty
Being a kid back then, I like Howard the Duck. Technically it is the first MCU movie
I was around 9 years old when it came out. I loved it and would still watch it at nearly 47😎
How good?
Ive been called the songbird of my generation by people who heard me. That good.
How about every single movie is being directed by Aaron Seltzer & Jason Friedberg.
I don’t think any one of these movies sounded that good to begin with.
You had so many honorable mentions you could have almost made the top 20 movies no one expected to be awful. I liked Year One and watch it on a regular basis since I own it on DVD. Many commenters are saying Norbit is a good movie, so I will be tracking the movie down to watch it.
Year One was good. If you expect goofball comedy and not Oscar winner, it is really funny. Michael Cera has some great but subtle comedy and Jack Black is good. Just understand it was a lower budget movie but it was solid. Too bad it was Harold Ramis' last movie and it tanked. A good comedy, but too bad that Ramis went out with little respect for his last movie.
Expected "The Hangover games" to be here. You know, parody of the hunger games and the hangover in which guys wake up in the hunger games universe and are forced to compete. I personally loved that scene in which the antagonist reports to the president which was Obama :D
Holmes and Watson, otherwise known as the movie which Netflix told Sony Pictures, "You can keep it".
Was very disappointed with Hangover 2, 3 and Zoolander 2
You forgot "Mixed Nuts", a good cast working with a humor-free script.
Find someone who loves you as much as WatchMojo loves the clip of J-Lo saying "Turkey time."
This is list is not shockingly but horrible. The hangover 2 and year one shouldn't be on this list and your highness shouldn't isn't bad either. What's bad is who makes these lists
I had no idea that my obsession with Howard the Duck was not shared by the masses. I loooved it so much. 😂
Am I the only person who actually liked "Year One?" Oliver Platt as a greased up horny ancient Babylonian High Priest was worth the price of admission.
LOL, really? There was literally NONE of those movies that I planned to watch nor have even watched on streaming. MAYBE Zoolander had an audience, but it wasn't me. Love Guru? Nah. Morbit? Come on. Howard the Duck was just a crazy concept anyone. I'd say the only one that had a shot would've been Hangover Part 2.
@1:40, Almost **4 years** 😂 Someone missed a 0 there.
I had to go back and listen to it again, and I thought it was my poor hearing when he said that.
If only it were still 1990, though. What a nice fantasy. We could stop using disposable plastic bags before we even started, address climate change before it really began, and nip Donald Trump in the bud. Oh well.
Yogi Bear (2010), Ghostbusters (2016), and Tom and Jerry (2021), Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000), and Fat Albert (2004) have mostly left the chat!!!
White chicks. One of very few movies I never finished watching.
I actually love Year One. My family and I find it hilarious and quote it all the time, lol
Hard to forget The Bonfire of the Vanities though watching the clips now am I the only one that sees Paul Whitehouse sitting next to Willis at 5:23 followed by Eammon Holmes next to Hanks at 5:35?
Now that’d make the film better, eh?
yep- I was in the theatre on opening of Howard the Duck... ouch... but anyone expecting Holmes and Watson to be good smelled of the glue they been sniffing... did not buy into Zoolander so could not see how it could be followed except with a fresh diaper. and Love Guru was clearly a piece of garbage. nothing in the trailers said 'somehow not a waste of time and energy.' same goes for Year One. Amsterdam actually had a prospect of being good... and as such was a true disappointment. casting errors, scripti, editing... WTF!?
Year One is hilarious, Wankmojo gets it wrong...again.
For some reason there isn't a single comedy film that comes to my mind When trying to answer that question at the end about comedy films that I expected to be funny that were awful. I don't know maybe those ones are films I just don't remember😂
There is that Eddie Murphy film Pluto Nash and it's so bad that I actually remember the DVD menu and the music from it a lot more than the movie itself. In fact I remember nothing from the movie except The DVD menu. I mean when the menu is more memorable than the film then there's definitely a problem
How dare you put NORBIT on this list!!!! That is one of the best movies ever!!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I said the same thing, Norbit is hilarious
You guys are high
Norbit was lit. It was just short.
Norbit has always got undeserved hate.
There is a hot take to end all hot takes
Fully expected Holmes and Watson.
Kicking and Screaming should be here too. I'd swap out Hangover 2 with Airplane 2.
2:46 come on man Nobit was funny
Year one belongs on the cult classic list
Howard The Duck was quite bad, but it DID show Lea Thompson's singing talent. She can REALLY sing!
i knew from the first trailer that Holmes & Watson would suck. didn't come as a surprise to hear how terrible it really was.
Same here! I saw the traler and thought "Oh this going to awful!"
I would have expected "Are We There Yet?" To be on this list. The only good parts of the movie were in the trailer.
I understand why it isn’t on this list… but, Dragnet, never lives up to its promise, nor its cast.
Dan Aykroyd, between the two original Ghostbusters films, & Tom Hanks, one year before BIG hits theaters…. Are cops of opposite temperaments teamed up to investigate A series of bizarre crimes.
On ode to the 1950’s TV show of the same name, with a supporting cast including Christopher Plummer, Harry Morgan & Bruce Grey. This ‘buddy cop’ comedy isn’t terrible…
I actually liked Holmes and Watson, and Amsterdam
Yall are gonna stop coming for Norbit! 😂 That movie is hilarious with plenty of rewatch value.
Also, I enjoyed The Hangover III MUCH MORE than The Hangover II.
Ice Pirates could have been a way better movie if it had a different director and writers. Robert Urich, who is certainly not a bad actor, couldn’t hide his embarrassment while saying, “space herpe”.
That movie is a classic
Ice Pirates was awesome, a little dated today but still awesome
@@GreatCanadianBob "use the robots! Use em!"
Rat Race - Cast includes: Rowan Atkinson, Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Jon Lovitz, Kathy Najimy, Seth Green, John Cleese and Dave Thomas.
Just not funny. 🤷♀
#8 I actually thought Norbit was funny
#4 NO ONE thought Gigli was gonna be good
#3 This was made too late
Amsterdam was such a let down for me
Roger Ebert's review of North was funnier than the movie itself
Aloha was decent & I had NO problem with Emma Stone's casting
"The Goods" w/ Jeremy Piven. My friends and I quote a few lines from it here or there, but with the Apatow group of comedians lead by Piven when Ari Gold was one of the most iconic characters on TV at the time, it fell soooooo flat.
Sorry, not sorry, I LOVE Year One! I laugh every single time I watch it 🤣 😂
Same here
The Hangover sequels weren’t exactly masterpieces, but they were still very funny, which is all I wanted from them 🤷♂️
THE HANGOVER was hilarious, THE HANGOVER PART 2 was awful, but THE HANGOVER PART 3 was much better 😊
I don't know why people are so annoyed at a sequel being made and it falling short. For example, the Predator was a fantastic movie and one of my childhood favourites. I watched the sequel starring Danny Glover and wondered what they were going for because it was such a departure from the first. However, I don't care that they made that sequel - I didn't like it, and I wouldn't be watching it again. They've made many more sequels and prequels since then. I guess I've watched them all and none of them lived up to the potential of the original and the quality of the franchise was never raised to that of the first one. Yet, what do I care about it? Isn't my money spent on making these movies and I bet a new generation of viewers may enjoy it or be reintroduced to a franchise they wouldn't have otherwise known about.
In the same vein, the Hangover sequels were never as good as the first. However, it's too harsh to call them humourless and wasteful. I'd rather have a sequel with the option to watch them than wonder why they didn't make one. No matter what they do, they can't take away the original, can they? Now if someone were to remake the Godfather with Gabriel Iglesias as Don Corleone and Michael Cera as Michael Corleone, I'd just not take the movie seriously, would I? I'd most likely skip it and maybe watch it if I'm in the mood for satirical parody - it's choice after all.
12:03 i honestly dont get the hate. I thought this was fine
Year one was an ok movie..... what am I doing what have I done,.... what am I continuing to do😂😂😂
Year One is on a very short list of movies that I didn't even finish watching.
It is one of the worst movies ever made. I was highly disappointed because that cast and crew should have been able to produce far better.
It definitely deserves the top spot on this list.
Year One?! WHAT
Howard the Duck isn't as bad as some people make it out to be. These days, even its main star, Lea Thompson, still seems to speak highly of it. At least she does once in a while on Twitter (aka X).
I actually don't think the Hangover 2 belongs on this list. No, it wasn't as good as the first and went for more gross out stuff, but it was still funny.
Zoolander 2 was so bad it kind of ruins the first one. I remember thinking it might at least be so bad that it's good, or stupid but at least funny. It's just bad.
Speaking of bad, how about Bad Santa 2? That sucked in a not even funny, just bad kind of way. I think that could've made the list. Other than that, pretty accurate at least from what I've seen/heard. I would question whether anyone was expecting different from Norbit given the premise and Murphy's output at the time.
8:11 Seriously Watchmojo you're torturing us with this cilp. ☣️
Michael Cera has never been a comedy titan 😂
Hangover 2 was a great movie, the fact that it is the same story as the first is the joke. Part 3 was horrible in part because it moved too far away from it.
I think The Lone Ranger movie deserves to be high on this list. What a piece of crap!! 400 million budget!!!
