    I’m currently going to community college. I’m still searching on what I want, but at least I’m not paying for it because of a scholarship the school gave me.
    My mother went to community college after trying university in her home state and not being able to handle it or afford it. So she decided to go into the military. She has received benefits for her stay/duty. She went back to school at a community college and developed a relationship with the transfer counselor at UCSB. It took her 9 years to get her bachelors. (she got a BA in chemistry)
    She now has, after working industry for more than 15+ years as a chemist, got her masters in sustainability and management, and her credential in teaching. She’s a chemistry teacher now and plans to get another master’s in education.
    My mom is well a woman and POC, she has faced difficulties in her life, but it hasn’t stopped her.
    After essentially being told by my cc counselor that “oh the UC’s are so hard to get in, you need A’s and B’s to barely get in” and subtly being told I’m incapable, I was crushed. But I know it’s not true. I have my mom as proof that’s not true.
    I guess my point is that, there will be challenges in life, but you should keep on going. University isn’t for everyone at the start, but you can build yourself going to CC. Just make sure you also have a good, supportive counselors in your life as well.

      @@KatVoltage thank you so much. And yes, it takes a lot of patience to keep going when things aren’t immediate. I’m learning that myself

    I went to a CC and now I'm q graduate student at a top 10 school. Transferring from a CC to a state school is super easy too(as long as you have over a 3.0). I personally think college is for everyone but the student needs to be in the right mindset.

    I can relate living in a dysfunctional home with a lot of problems and distractions. But I know I have the opportunity to restart and do it better. Recently I’ve been second guessing myself but I really want to continue to pursue this discipline. My situation is just making it harder than it should be. Thanks to your videos it’s giving me another perspective and re-sparking why I chose to pursue this. Thanks 🙏🏽

    Working for NASA has always been a faraway dream of mine. I have a bachelors degree in art and haven’t had any luck with landing a job, so I’m thinking of going to a community college to get a degree in a different field. But a fear of mine is that I’ll be “backtracking” since I already have a BA, or that I’ll join it and decide it’s not for me since it’s out of my comfort zone. I’ve always been creative and had an artistic background, so I get intimated thinking about getting a STEM degree. But that’s also why I think community college would be good, since I don’t really have that STEM background. I also suffer from chronic pain and fatigue, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to finish or get scholarships or do all the things you did to get into UCLA and work for NASA.

      Hi Sydney, something my mom always made sure I knew was that we are free to pursue what we want in life. There’s no one path for anyone. It’s important to follow our gut and if we are scared, to do it scared, but to do it! Only by trying will we know if we actually like it or not!
      I have endometriosis which is a chronic illness and one of the side effects is extreme fatigue. I had no idea why I was always soooo tired. I found a schedule and a routine that worked for me. When I was eventually diagnosed (after I had already graduated and everything) did I realize what the source of that was. I was sooo amazed at myself for having made it through regardless! Trust me, we are no different. I’m a normal human with normal flaws. You can do this.

    I'm currently finishing my last semester on community college but I'm so afraid that the university will be super hard. I also struggle with physics and put so much work in for example I study everyday. But I don't see others that put all that work in. Do you have any studying tips? What is the difference between expectations from community college vs university? What habits help you improve in school? My family has been dysfunctional and I don't have a reading habit but I want to start. With that being said I'm willing to do anything to grow and succeed. What are does habits that make a better student? Thank you, from a person that get all help from strangers because I dont have no support 😊

    I actually like the way that you love your major and how you make it fun and someway encouraging me to continue my Electrical power engineering , however I noticed that in your instagram you always support women and nothing wrong with that but when you always show that how women struggle as engineer and when people say to them (( you don’t look like engineer )) And it hurts them I’m a man and I heard a lot saying this to me , the idea both man and women could get through the same difficulty , my father passed away and I have my mom to take care of and I wasn’t able to pay for college and unfortunately my country had a war so I couldn’t join any community college I stucked after high school for 4 years without studying anything till I traveled to study abroad which is hard cause different language different culture also there is many rules for non-local their such as if gpa less than 2.4 they will kikme out of college even though I’m sponsoring my self , until now I’m struggling in college to make my gpa stabl enough to continue , So for me I think man and women is the same and equal and feminism these days unfortunately show that women above man and this is not equivalent and unfair , please support both side
    I respect you and what you are doing ,you have great ambition KEEP GOING 👍🏼

    Do you think that someone with a BS in electronics engineering technology, could do the same electrical engineering work that someone in your position could do? I’m studying EE but I hear that people with a degree in EET do pretty much the same things that a person with a BS in EE does. Based on your experience would you say that it’s true?

    • @KatVoltage
      @KatVoltage  2 года назад +1

      Hi! I’m not too familiar with that major, but EE is so broad. There are many different specializations within EE (mine is electronics), so in this case absolutely!
