I am embarrassed and ashamed to admit that I used to think just like Antonio. From the time I was a child, I was told what to believe and not to question it. Up until then, I had not read the Bible for myself, but only cherry-picked verses taught by my church. I had assumed everything in the Bible was just true. At Thanksgiving dinner with my family in 2003, I got into an argument about theism and homosexuality with my gay nephew, who was never a believer. I very arrogantly thought I had the moral high ground over him and everyone else who was not a believer. He very calmly encouraged me to read the entire Bible for myself, so I did just that believing it would reaffirm my position. It took me 18 months, but when I was finished, I could not function for 4 months after. I was so filled with rage, so angry, and so hurt that I had been LIED to about the goodness and love of this God. What I read in the Bible had nothing to do with love. It was about a deity that advocated for sexism, racism, misogyny, war, human sacrifice, slavery, and the senseless unaliving of sentient babies and children. No matter how hard I tried, I could NOT do the mental gymnastics required to defend such an evil deity. Right there began my deconstruction. I refuse to believe any divine being inspired the disgusting mess that is the Bible. If anyone should be judged and beg for forgiveness, it is Jehovah/Yahweh/Allah, not people. If anyone should suffer eternal damnation, it is this deity. What it did to Bathsheba's baby son is pure evil. Don't even get me started on the rest. I profusely apologized to my nephew, and we are now closer than ever.

Only the donkey can see the angel of God waiting in the middle of the road to kill them (because the angel couldn't just go directly to the owner for some reason). 3. The donkey stops and the owner gets mad since he can't see the angel that the donkey sees. 4. The owner gets mad and beats the donkey. 5. oh, it's much worse... the bible doesn't mention Adam's rib growing back afaik, so it's irrelevant in that regard. Even if it did, god was doing magic so it wouldn't suggest heritability... A rib regrowing in the original animal does not in any way suggest the broken off part can regrow an entire animal, let alone of a different sex, so it's irrelevant in that regard as well. Lilith, she was reportedly also made from dust like Adam too right? She was created as Adams equal, Eve was created from Adam and was definitely not created as Adams equal. Christians want to perpetuate the myth that women were created to be subservient to men. It doesn't fit the Christian narrative to mention that Lilith was Adams equal in every way so they don't.
@@crazyprayingmantis5596 hmm I don't actually remember what she was made of 🤔 What I remember of this old random Jewish folklore is that after Lilith there was another woman made for Adam, but she was made in front of him. So he saw her being put together from the inside-out - bones knitting together, ligaments, sinew, organs, muscles and tendons and fat and teeth and skin.. when she was done he couldn't stand to look at her, cos he was disgusted by the thought of what he saw, so she had to be, umm.. 'undone' 😅 Essentially god destroyed her cos Adam was grossed out. Then came the Eve story and putting Adam to sleep (after the 2nd attempt we know he cannot be allowed to see it happen) and taking the bone and so on. Some people think this is why Adam says "At last" when god brings eve to him - third times the charm I guess 🤷♂️
I remember that most house dust develops from dead skin from our own bodies (coming off the outside and breathed out from the nose). So whatever study he was looking at that said humans and dust share many common elements could very well ITSELF create a circular argument from what he's saying.

What they’re trying to do is equate science as another religion. It’s a pathetic last ditch attempt to give their terrible arguments and beliefs more validity by basically going “well y’all didn’t see the Big Bang happen, so how you can say it wasn’t god?”
The point is to make it seems like the interlocutor is arguing based on faith and then they can too use faith. Then, theists will equate atheist's science book as holy scripture and point at how it was changed throughout due to wrongful information. Theists' book, however, is unerring to them and it successfully prophesied many incidents showing that no human is capable of such. By doing that, their faith is backed by higher power and atheists having false faith in science is ridiculous. That is why they think their faith is far substantiated than atheists
I just want to advise my fellow theists that just because we're both theists it doesn't mean you'll get a free pass getting either atheism nor science wrong. Can you actually prove this fable actually happened? Prove its not a copy of a Ugaritic or Mesopotamian myth. We need eyewitness accounts and sworn affidavits.
For this story to even be remotely plausible in a literal sense, anyone with any knowledge of science would have to believe that the way things work wasn't how they worked 'in the beginning', and that for some reason God decided to change it while leaving no evidence of doing so. For example, one would have to believe that the genetic problems that would arise from a whole population coming from just two people, with all the incest that would entail, simply weren't an issue then.
@amtlpaul I think we are the group of people that DID think a bit harder about the implications...we're called atheists. The others are not interested. The benefit they seek from their religion does not require it be verifiably true.

Regarding the preamble: “I was only following orders” is not a defense. Even in the military, you have a duty and obligation to disobey unlawful orders. Regarding ribs and Adam and Eve: Yes, ribs can regenerate. So what? “Do I think it’s a coincidence” that the story of the creation of Eve from the rib (traditionally) of Adam uses a bone that can regenerate in mammals? Yes. After all, the rib regenerates in *ADAM.* It’s not like you can take a rib out of someone and regrow a person from the rib. The reasons that ribs can regenerate in humans is due to the presence of certain cells in the periosteum and the perichondrium. The periosteum surrounds every bone and contains osteoblasts, which are the cells that can grow bone. It’s why if you break a bone, you can set it and the bones will “knit” back together to form a single bone. The perichondrium contains stem cells that drive the regeneration of the rib. That is, osteoblasts form bone, but you have a lot of different shapes of bone. The stem cells help to drive that formation of bone specifically into a rib bone as opposed to just generalized growth of bone. Due to the rich blood supply surrounding the ribs along with these cells in this environment, they are particularly well-suited for regeneration as opposed to other bones. Other bones don’t have these advantages, though there are some known instances where the bones of the fingertips have regenerated. All that said, part of the reason I say it’s coincidence is that the word used to describe the creation of Eve is more directly translated as “side.” While there are many good linguistic reasons to translate it as “rib,” I bring this up because there is something else in the human body that is much better at regeneration and is also in the “side”: The liver. You can remove up to 90% of the liver and it will regenerate itself. So why is the caller fixated on the rib when the liver is a much more likely candidate? But notice, this is falling for the assumption: That there is some scientific basis for the idea of being able to create an entirely new human from a body part of another. In neither case does a regenerating rib or liver result in a new human. Again, the rib regrows in the *HOST* body and only regrows a rib. You can transplant the bone somewhere else (rib bone is routinely used in plastic surgeries) and it will grow as bone. The rib doesn’t create a new person. You can transplant a lobe of a liver into a new person and it will grow to a full-sized liver and the liver that remains in the host will also regenerate itself, but in neither case you get a person. You just get liver. So yes, ribs (and liver) can regenerate. What does that have to do with anything? Regarding dust: “Dust” isn’t a thing in and of itself. “Dust” is just a fine powdery substance and what it consists of depends entirely on what has been powdered. Grind the starch of wheat into a powder and the resulting “dust” is made up of starch. Grind talc into a powder and the resulting “dust” is made up of hydrated magnesium silicate. Grind the grains of sand on a beach into a powder and the resulting “dust” is made up of silicon dioxide…unless you’re at a black sand beach where it will be iron oxide and iron titanium oxide…unless it’s a lava black sand beach where the “dust” will include even more stuff like alumina, calcium oxide, magnesium oxide, etc. But in the end, since humans are made from atoms that are present upon the earth, how is it surprising to see that the atoms that make up a human would be present in the minerals that are found in the crust of the earth? After all, humans get their atoms from the food they eat and when you trace it back, you find that those atoms eventually come from plants taking those atoms out of the soil. A plant takes minerals from the earth and uses them to build its body. Animals eat the plants and use the atoms in the plants to build their bodies. So of course the atomic structure of humans is going to reflect the composition of the “dust of the earth.” What would be astounding is if it didn’t. Regarding the flood: It is topologically impossible to flood the earth. About 97% of the total water on earth is in the oceans. Another couple percent can be found in the lakes, rivers, and ice. Only about 0.001% of the water on the earth is in the atmosphere as vapor. If all the water in the atmosphere were to condense, it would only cover the earth with about an inch of water…which would immediately run into the ocean (assuming none of it were to be absorbed by the ground), leaving pretty much all the dry land we see today. In order to flood the earth, you need to put water on top of the water that already exists. The radius of the earth is approximately 4000 miles to sea level. The height of Mt. Everest is another 5.5 miles above that. Thus, to flood the earth, you would need a shell of water with an inner radius of 4000 miles and an outer radius of 4005 miles. That comes out to about 1 billion cubic miles. But, there’s only about 330 million cubic miles of water on the earth. It would take three times as much water as all the water on the earth to completely flood it. There simply isn’t enough water. It is topologically impossible to flood the planet. Regarding “you have to believe in something”: No, you don’t. It really is that simple. There is no need to believe in anything. “I don’t know” is a rational response.
I've heard them explain this by saying that although Adam and Eve were the first people, they weren't the only people. Of course this goes against the spirit of the story.
Antonio strikes me as the kind of guy who never stops. At BBQs, parties, camping, conventions or any other gathering/setting it's non stop God spewing forth from his mouth.

Got to love when someone who believes in magic argues about biology with someone who has studied and has qualifications in biology. Religion makes people confident enough to talk complete nonsense and think that they're right.
Then they jump to the chemistry of dust and then to astronomy. If you know enough to debunk their "data" in one field they just keep jumping fields till they find one you don't know and when you can't debunk them there it is PROOF of their beliefs. So sad and deceitful.
The moment he started shouting "I understand" was a very clear indication that he did not, in fact, understand. He just realized that he wasn't going to 'win' the argument because his evidence was bad.

Well it sounded so convincing the way the preacher said it.

2. Only the donkey can see the angel of God waiting in the middle of the road to kill them (because the angel couldn't just go directly to the owner for some reason).

oh, it's much worse... the bible doesn't mention Adam's rib growing back afaik, so it's irrelevant in that regard. Even if it did, god was doing magic so it wouldn't suggest heritability... A rib regrowing in the original animal does not in any way suggest the broken off part can regrow an entire animal, let alone of a different sex, so it's irrelevant in that regard as well. Or the second one. I don't even think she got a name.

@@crazyprayingmantis5596 hmm I don't actually remember what she was made of 🤔
What I remember of this old random Jewish folklore is that after Lilith there was another woman made for Adam, but she was made in front of him. So he saw her being put together from the inside-out - bones knitting together, ligaments, sinew, organs, muscles and tendons and fat and teeth and skin.. when she was done he couldn't stand to look at her, cos he was disgusted by the thought of what he saw, so she had to be, umm.. 'undone' 😅
Essentially god destroyed her cos Adam was grossed out.
I mean, there are stars magnitudes larger than our own sun, let alone Earth.
And there is not a single star smaller than the earth, the lower end of the star spectrums mass requires a star to be 80 times the size of our largest planet Jupiter. If a star somehow defies physics and falls to the earth half the solar system would be wiped out if not the entire solar system.

Antonio is the Poster Child for Dunning-Kruger...a (very) little knowledge is a dangerous thing
Not only arrogant but really loud and LOVES the sound of his own voice.
Gotta love the people who wants to keep us in the metaphorical caves
I actually don't think we should be insulting Cave man. I think he was hellova more intelligent than these religious nutters!
Adam and Eve had three sons. Where did the next generation come from?
Incest.
And yet humanity doesn't suffer from any of the problems related to inbreeding. The most easy way to debunk this story in my opinion
The Bible forgot to mention those aliens..
normal biblical inbreeding. just like after the mass drowning.
I've heard them explain this by saying that although Adam and Eve were the first people, they weren't the only people. Of course this goes against the spirit of the story.
this guy was speaking like he was in a real hurry to spit out his nonsense...
Ben Shapiro worshiper. Gish gallop faster and farther and you win.
Antonio strikes me as the kind of guy who never stops. At BBQs, parties, camping, conventions or any other gathering/setting it's non stop God spewing forth from his mouth.
Before we knew the difference, meteors were confused with stars. We had no idea of the size of a star or that our own Sun is a star
I have 17 snakes, and not one of them have ever offered me an apple
Can any of them talk? 😁
I think your snakes are holding out on you....
@@johnrap7203 I don't think many of them know they're alive most of the time 🤣
@@ryvercardn3387 I think so too
I like the theory that Adam's "rib" is a euphemism for a baculum, a penile bone. Ancient herders would have known about them from slaughtering animals and likely made up a story to explain why humans don't have one.
You can't tell this guy to "do some research on that and then call us back" and expect to make any headway with him. Most people don't have a clue how to do productive research on anything.
Dude is eliminating everything that is not his preconceived outcome.
The dirt being made of stuff like us would point more towards evolution than a God
Dust and Dirt and Soil are different things.
In some contexts, yes. In other contexts dust and dirt are synonymous. Don't pretend context doesn't matter.
@@puckerings Oh I am not pretending context doesn't matter, I was pointing out that he could not possibly know the exact composition,
Dust generally in a household can be mostly human and pet detritus,
Dirt is what you tread in!
Soil is a complex organic mineral mixture we put plants into,
I knew this was going to be stupid the moment they said "Alabama."
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Although to be fair, you can find stupid anywhere.
@@Childfree334 true but there are degrees of stupid, and Alabama is very hot, many many degrees.
Science proves beyond a doubt that there was a talking snake or donkey. Doesn't it? Hello?
This was my immediate thought, too.
“Just look it up”. Where, in the Bible? 😂😂😂
Antonio is donkey like and he talks, sorta.
There was no Adam & Eve or a first human. Asking the question "Who was the first human?" is as absurd as asking "How old were you when you were growing up?", or "Who was the first person to fully speak French?".
Huh?
Forrest's blank stare as he says, "Gravity's everywhere in the universe" 😂😂😂
Why am I paying so much for my spare ribs in barbecue sauce 🤔 I'm having a word with my local Chinese takeaway tonight...
Perfect Example of U.S. Southerners talking about Religion when they're High on Meth.
He keeps saying "process of elimination" but not using that at all.
Then God set them up for failure if we are taking the story as is taken
The moment he started shouting "I understand" was a very clear indication that he did not, in fact, understand. He just realized that he wasn't going to 'win' the argument because his evidence was bad.
The sun is a star....
He keeps going back to the idea that man was made from dust, because dust is made up of the same elements as man… MOST household dust is old skin cells, so of course it’s made of the same material as man.
Genesis happened as written?
So God created everything twice and then did it differently the second time, because the two accounts don't match up? I guess he just magically erased the first go or something?
