Took my dad to see it, he originally read it more than 50 years ago and has loved it ever since. He was in tears by the end, I’ve never seen a movie do that.
I'm glad for him and not so for the ppl that never saw thus version and were Dune fans
@@geraxhoyou can see it in a couple of days be patient 😅
@@rubiksworld2170 CAN'T WAIT!!
I read it 50 years ago and I'm taking my 3 sons to see it.
@@valkyriedd5849 that's awesome
Because Quinn dropped this video,
A sleeper has awakened.
literally, i was sleeping an hour ago and woke up for no reason ( now knowing the reason ) and got some water to drink, sat down to check news, weather, headlines in the world and came across this, glad to see it, enjoyed it
As has this sleeper
The Sleeper!
It is by Quinn alone I set my mind in motion.
was waiting for him drop more dune!
Sounds like Denis is the force that science fiction has needed for decades.
Don't worship messiahs, you'll only get disappointed. That's the very lesson of Dune.
He is a very talented director with an eye for SF, not the Second Coming. Let's not put him under too much pressure.
@@arthurbriand2175I wouldn't call him a messiah to come save the genre. But he is a welcome addition and I hope it inspires new artists to play in the sandbox.
@@arthurbriand2175Now, that’s the most appropriate mentality for the topic at hand!
That's wrong. You meant Michael Bay.
I think it's also a matter of what was possible on the big screen and the studios seeing the potential in anything other than zombies, vampires, pirates and superhero movies.
Start a precautionary petition to stop Disney from buying Dune. God save us all if that happens
Lol. the fans bear an equal amount of blame. They terrified the studio into paralysis, and when trying to please everyone in a rabid fanbase, they ended up pleasing no one. No one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans.
That’ll prevent the later books from getting adapted that’s for sure
@@dxcSOUL The only blame the fans have is for not jumping ship soon enough.
I loved Dune 1. The fact that Quinn approved Dune 2 is a huge relief. Can't wait to see it!
Get ready to have your cheeks hurt from smiling, it was fantastic. Sure, I have my little nitpicks and things I personally would like to have seen done differently but Villeneuve really hit it out of the park. As sequels go it's in the Aliens, Terminator 2, Empire Strikes Back league...all followed competent movies but expanded their universes and themes into something truly special. Dune 2 does that incredibly well, I can't wait to rewatch it a dozen times when it is available and will probably go see it again later this week.
Dune 1 has an 83% on RT, Dune 2 has a 97%, I'm pumped.
@@amberlittle1706it was so great it gave me chills watching it, it started out a lil slow with the back story but then it just smacks you in the face this is like one of the best movies in forever this is one my best movies list up there with interstellar with me
Right?! I'm so very excited right now!!
@@amberlittle1706 RT??? 🙄
Wait for IMDb, audience scores
I watched it last night as well. I had high hopes but was absolutely blown away. The cinematographer, Greig Fraser, is one of the best to have ever lived. Villenueve and Fraser made me feel like I was on Arrakis and Giedi Prime. I also felt the presence and power of the Fremen's religion through the people and Paul. It was a truly amazing film experience.
where are you guys watching it? isn't it supposed to be released on the first?
@@aharon564 there was an early showing at theaters around the country at 7pm last night (Feb 25th). I saw that it was happening yesterday early afternoon and bought my ticket as fast as I could. I had to sit 3 rows away from the IMAX screen, but I think it made the movie better. I felt like I was on Arrakis sitting that close, LOL. The theater was packed!
@@AshtonCoolman Thanks! sooo fomo lol
See you the space navigator in this second part ? 🙈
Getting married and seeing the movie with my wedding party on Friday night, thanks for sharing your early thoughts!

My wife and I went to see it last night. Absolutely blown away. One thing I really enjoyed was just how... human they all felt. Everything was very serious but everyone felt like real people which I do think was one of the biggest challenges with adapting the book.
One thing I really, truly hope to see - a release, somewhere, of the reportedly filmed and yet cut banquet scene. Truly one of the best chapters in the book. Seeing it portrayed by actors who have so utterly nailed their characters would be amazing!
That's one of the things I miss the most. It really highlights the environmentalism, history, and politics.
Wait they filmed and then cut i!?!? Omg that was my biggest gripe with the first movie, if they released this scene I could die happy!
Wheres them deleted scenes on bluray?!
Walked out the theatres last night just blown away. When I got home I opened the book to read it again
You have an art in the way you talk, the description, the feeling, you can sense your emotional involvement, im almost in tears in anticipation. I'm getting to be an emotional old fool over the past few years.
I remember several years ago I was watching you talk about GoT, but your enthusiasm for Dune even back before any mention of a film had me intrigued enough to have to get the series read. Following your excitement thru the initial announcement until now has been really fun, and thank you for opening me up to a new lore. All the other sci-fi fantasy stuff really came from Frank Herberts ideas and i never even knew till I read this.
I just got out of the theater a few hours ago and have been patiently waiting for your comments on this amazing film.
Been waiting for this for so long! I have tickets for Friday. So glad Denis is at the helm, it’s clear he deeply loves the books
Quinn, no one said that bucket design was for your hands…

I’m going to f*uck mine.
I am excited to watch this film. I first read Chapterhouse Dune in 1986, when I was nine because my Da devoured it in just a few weeks. I wanted to be like my Da so I attempted to read it over a few months. After struggling to get through this tome, I approached my Da and began asking him questions about the narrative that confused me. Taken aback, first because I attempted to read the book. But then he curated a list of books to borrow from the library to better build my appreciation for Science Fiction/Fantasy.
Ho ho ho, surely there's no way Chapterhouse Dune is good for 9-year-old kids!
Which books were on his list?
waiting for the list
Pls tell us the list.
The part where Stilgar says Paul is "humble" for denying that he is the Mahdi is hilarious and reminds me of The Life of Brian scene when Brian denies he is Christ.
Some movies get casting just perfect and dune is definitely one of them.
I was not a fan of Jason Momoa in the first movie, but I would say that apart from that you are spot on for Dune Part 1. I'm very much looking forward to what Christopher Walken will make of things in part 2.
I would have cast Adrien Brody as Duke Leto.
@markusbosch2305 Oscar Isaac did a great job. Adrian Brody is a great actor too. If I had to pick id say Jim Caviezel. Steals every scene hes in like Javier Bardem does
@@markusbosch2305 I really loved Oscar Isaac, but Adrien Brody's take on the role would've been a fascinating sight!
I'm still upset about Austin Butler as Feyd Rautha. Don't care about him as an actor and him in real life pisses me the f off. My dream casting would have been Barry Keoghan (which I've wanted for years).
Also my dream casting for Irulan was Jodie Comer, but Florence is good too.
Yours is really the only pre-release review I care about. That's because I've followed you for years and watched and learned from your numerous Dune videos, so I can absolutely trust that if this film passes muster with you, then I'll be fine when I go see it Thursday night!
I saw it last night, the 25th, at the IMAX fan showing and I haven’t felt this way since I saw _The Empire Strikes Back_ - it’s that good. And that line from Paul at the end, my god. 🤯 I’m so looking forward to your full review, Quinn. 👍
You can hear the relief in Quinn's voice. So glad to know it's great, can't wait!
I’ve already booked a second bunch of tickets for Dune 2 and I haven’t even seen it yet. Filling up so fast that I had no choice in Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
Lucky you, you've got access to a 1.43 IMAX screen with dual laser nearby, I'm so jealous 😫
I got a double feature in a Lux theatre. Worth it if you can.
I absolutely loved when Chani spoke the opening words from Part One: "Our planet Arrakis is so beautiful when the sun is low. Rolling over the sands, you can see spice in the air." when her and Paul were bonding, so sweet, it almost brought tears to my eyes. Realizing it was a prescient dream that came to life in Part Two, gosh, makes me appreciate Part One even more.
Absolute masterpiece. I didn't love the first film, but part 2 blew me away. 10/10. I really want to see it again this week.
I love that the Bene Gesserit are essentially the Jedi order if they were actually good at controlling the galaxy.
Also Dune ended on a cliffhanger
that's because George Lucas looked at the Bene Gesserit and thought to himself "lemme make this into a Jedi"
@@BoxStudioExecutive touche!
@BoxStudioExecutive True that. Most people though are far more familiar with Star Wars than Dune
loved the bene gesserit story, found the 2 final books in the dune series to be super interestuing and id say out of all the Dune series they are my favourite read (apart from the first dune book of course)
More like the Jedi are like the Bene Gesserit if they were not so great at office politics 😛
Dude, the music you paired your voiceover with is amazing. Really great job. The timing and tone really made me immersed.
Just watched it last night. It got cheers from the whole audience. It felt long but the kind of long i can watch two dozens times. I was relieved and appreciative of how well this series has been adapted.
Can’t wait for the next one!!
Saw it last night, and all I can say is KULL fkn WAHAD. 100%, no contest, best movie ever (with part 1), best adaptation possible, absolutely the most fulfilling Dune experience since I fell in love for the OG series 35 years ago.
14:51 You put it perfectly when you say “this is the best possible adaptation that we could’ve got” which I think leads to the fact before it was always said Dune was impossible to adapt but I think it was waiting for the right person (people) the right vision to be able to do so. And who knows like you also said maybe in a few decades we’ll get a new version (it seems we are on track for roughly about every 25 years or so, there’s a new interpretation... maybe the next one will be AI generated, oh the irony!) but for now I like a reviewer from the premier in France said, “I’m so glad to be alive to get to see this!”
Maybe the butlerian jihad will begin by then. Jk
I started watching your channel when you were ideas of ice and fire and I can’t tell you how proud I am. One of the greatest channels every covering sci-fi and fantasy!!
I passed on the Sunday IMAX Fan showing because the best seats were already sold...so I got this Thursday, the 29th instead. Had to get the 4:00pm showing but I'm soooo stoked, and very glad to hear your positive review!
Thank you for making this video so quickly for all the fans that are super excited after the imax premiere last night!!
I’m about to watch it in 40 minutes I’m so excited!
Starting my week watching Quinn's review of Dune Part 2. Ending my week watching Dune Part 2 myself (got my tickets). I am SOOOO excited for this week!!!!!
Part 3 needs to happen. I was just talking it up to people at the climbing gym tonight. Friday can't come soon enough so I can see it. So glad you got to see it early Quinn. (:
I had very high hopes for this moive... And You giving it your blessing is the ultimate seal of quality :-)
I love the Dune books, this series is Star Wars for adults and I'm very happy to hear it was done well.
It makes Star Wars seem even more corny than it already did 😂
Star Wars was heavily influenced by Dune.
If one's a steak and the other's a burger, I'm glad to be in a world with both.
Ironically that’s a very childish interpretation
Pretty sure Dune Messiah is confirmed. I was reading an article where they talked to Villeneuve about it.
I would love to see Denis try to tackle God emperor and see how he would adapt it
Dune 2 will make so much MONEY there's no way it won't happen! The worry is, how long will we have to wait for it.......
@kingbolo4579 so apparently he's working on the script. My guess is 2027 though. Maybe late 2026 at best.
It will be better if everyone is a few years older. Actually tracks with the storyline.
@@erickarnell I haven't read the books, how many years later is it?
It's good to see book lovers sharing the reviews. I've been following your channel for content on A Song of Ice and Fire. After watching the first Dune movie, I decided to start reading the book. I'm glad you're covering it too. I'm looking forward to watching the movie this Friday.
Saw the fan showing last night and was floored. Also excited to hear your comments- someone who knows the lore so well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
not a dune fan here but I loved the movie all the characters were interesting and compelling I would of liked to see more of Feyd-Rautha cause every scene he was in was amazing
I'm not a Dune fan. I never read the book (or books?). I saw the old film, but didn't particularly like it.
I watched the part 1 remake and didn't like it either. I just don't have any context for what is happening in the scenes.
The visuals were stunning though. It was very beautiful.
I do love Sci-fi, but not certain if I should see part 2...
I saw the first showing in my area today. Totally worth missing work for. The last time I was in the theater was to see "Dune: Part 1", so it was very apropos. With my schedule the ONLY time I'd be able to see it in the theater was today, so I was so happy to do so. It was easily the best 3 hour block of time I've had so far in 2024. I think I had a grin on my face the whole time, just totally immersed in what was on the screen. Loved it and can't wait to see more Dune with this cast and DV at the helm. Amazing.
Thanks for the dedication Quinn!! Glad to hear you liked the movie, can't wait to see it myself!
Can't wait to see it, but I had to check out your take first. So happy to see you so happy about it!
Watching this in Imax was one of my favorite theater experiences in recent memory. Incredible film. Looking forward to the spoiler review!
I got to watch Part Two last night after waiting nearly three years for the film and it exceeded all of my expectations. Denis gave us the perfect adaptation of Herbert’s dense novel. The changes made sense and I wasn’t upset about certain characters being cut due to how well the pacing of the film flows. I absolutely love Part One but Part Two is far superior and layered with heavy themes on religion fanaticism, fundamentalism, and all of the political aspects were handled perfect. It feels so good to have a filmmaker that is passionate and loves the story as much as we do at the helm. Denis’ Dune trilogy will be this generation’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. This is now my favorite film of all time and of the year, there’s quite nothing else can top this.
Man I love your passion. It's always a pleasure to watch your videos.
Thanks for the review. Your channel is one of the top Dune knowledge / news sources to follow. I bet you'll hit 1M subscribers soon which would be well-deserved.
Thanks Quinn, i have tickets for Thursday. Im going to hold off on your spoiler review until after i have seen it.
Thank you Quinn for all your Dune videos! I'd say you're a big influence on why I started reading and ended up loving SciFi more and the Dune universe. I'm so excited to finally see this in a few days!
Your review was the only one I was waiting for can't wait to see it. Thanks for posting
The Algo Rhythm absolutely notices you.
Long time subscriber. 🖤
Seeing it this Thursday at Imax. Can't wait! Thanks for the review. It's got me hyped.
I'm so glad to hear that you enjoyed Part Two. I'm a little more cautious due to some of the changes I've heard and complaints regarding the film's third act, but most of the changes they made in Part One made sense and didn't bother me much, so I'm still optimistic for Part Two.
I originally planned on re-reading the book before Part Two comes out, but I haven't been able to concentrate well lately so I never got around to it (and you *definitely* need full concentration when tackling Dune). That hasn't stopped me from going through multiple re-cap videos and audiobook bits to refresh my memory, though. I want to be as prepared as possible.
I absolutely loved this movie and loved the first one and found an even better appreciation for it after discovering your channel in 2021 around the time the movie came out. I had heard it was going to be good cause my aunt works at Warner so I had hopes and it came through. Only criticism I keep hearing is that people that read the books didn’t like chani were I on the other hand think she was done absolutely fine and better tbh
I’m beyond thankful for you and this channel as I didn’t realize the pure gold of this story wasn’t on my radar
I just watched it this evening and was waiting for your review!
i think i’ve rewatched dune pt. 1 like 5 times in the past week. i need to see pt. 2 so bad
Aliah is my favourite Character of the Dune Universe. I would gladly read or watch a series based only in her. Her role in Messiah and Children is awsome.
Your reviews really got me into Dune , so thank you ! The books are awesome , still gotta finish children of dune its been awhile, might just pick it up again. Thanks again Quinn !
I love finding this channel!
Good to see you back posting Quinn!
Been refreshing my feed over and over waiting for this video
Thanks for all of your wonderful content. You reignited my love of the dunes saga. I even reread the first novel last year.
Going to see it Saturday. I was already excited but your review has me even more pumped to see it.
Love your stuff Quinn.
You & a Pastor I went to years ago got me incredibly hyped on dune. I’ve read the entire series since then & now it’s amazing to see a movie capture the visual of how I imagined the first book. Thank you for introducing me to so many amazing scifi works.
I was waiting for your review for so long! I have my ticket booked for Thursday. So eager!
Never been so excited to see a Quinn video pop up.
Also can't wait for your review on Netflix's 3 Body Problem :)
All the actors and crew seem to love and know the source material really well. Not surprising it turned out fantastic
Hi Quinn, I hope your channel receives a boom with all the current dune interest. I'm really glad I discovered your channel ! Great content!
Your review on Dune is the only one I was looking forward to and taking seriously. Thank you Quinn!
I loved it man. The changes were necessary for the movie format and they don't bother me that much. Awesome film
I just love your critique and analysis.
I still remember your review of Dune part 1. I knew nothing about Dune other than it was a David Lynch film and fast forward today and I’ve watch a ton of your videos since lol. Thank you, Quinn!
I was certain that Denis and everyone involved would do a fantastic job with Dune Part Two. After hearing your review my excitement went over the roof!!
I'm so so ready to finally see it on Wednesday. And after I have done that I will be watching your spoiler review!
Seeing it asap. Thank you for your review.
Love your work! Thanks for sharing.
I absolutely loved it. I had no problem at all with any of the changes.
What an incredible experience to watch this on IMAX. I felt like I was literally on Arrakis living with the Fremen, on Giedi Prime with the terrifying Harkonnen death cult. It was vast yet intimate. Visionary filmmaking. I predict this will sweep the Oscars. Long live the fighters!!
I followed your channel for your dune videos, so it's exciting to get to see these amazing movies and hear what you think of them
Saw it last night. Seeing it again soon. Breathtaking all around.

Can’t wait to see this Friday in IMAX! Thank you Quinn for the content and hyping me even more!
Thank you for this review. It definitely makes me feel very good about going to see the movie tomorrow with my father! You do such a great job of breaking it all down as well
I love this story! I saw the first verry 1st movie in the 80's, and just couldn't get enough. Your description and thoughts or spot on with the way I have viewed the latest interpretation of the book. Your passion come's thru and excites the people you talk too about this movie to make anyone want to see it. Thank you for such a gripping review.
One thing we can ALL agree on, even if you were disappointed with the changes : Denis Villeneuve is a master filmmaker 💥

happy to see it lives up the the hype and you got to see it a bit early, heading the IMAX friday myself, thanks Quinn
Going to see it in Imax Friday night. Can't wait and thanks for the review. I'm allowing myself to be very, very hyped now
That Duke's ring is cool. Awesome video as always to you and your team.
Saw this with my best friend last night. We had two completely different reactions. I was in love with the film because of the how well they nailed the themes of Dune and invoked amazing visuals and emotion. For my friend he was sad that some key events and dialogue that were so impactful to him as a reader did not make it into the film. Mainly the changes with Lady Jessica, Chani, and the death of Paul's son. I can see other fans of the book having this reaction. However, knowing this is a 3 part story and how Denis has crafted the story so far, I am in love with his take on Dune. The Bene Gesserit being the core heart of the story was the right choice. While Dune is dense and has many areas that can be explored, you can't do that in two films. I look forward to other artists take on these other themes. Dune Part 2 was amazing. I felt Denis elevated the Fremen culture and made it more realized than they are presented in the book.
Appreciate the spoiler free vid
Looking forward to seeing it
I can't wait to see it. Love seeing your vids and will watch the spoiler version after I watch the film.
