REPLAY: Off the rocks at Lake Uri in Switzerland | Sisikon, Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series 2022

  • An original location from the inaugural World Series season in 2009, Sisikon was on the schedule in 2010 and again in 2018. The return to Lake Uri marks a significant stop in the 2022 series: Switzerland plays a leading role in the history of the sport, as Red Bull Cliff Diving as such was born in Brontallo (Ticino) in July 1997 with the very first standalone event 25 years ago. One diver has a score to settle here: out of the 17 locations Rhiannan Iffland has competed at, Sisikon is the only one where the Australian cliff diving sensation has not yet won - will 2022 be her year?

It's one thing to be a regular diver, and have several rounds to go through. It is quite another to have all the hiking/climbing these athletes have to do, every round, to get to the diving platform! That is a significant amount of physical energy they expend, just to accomplish that! Then deal with hot/cold temps of air and water, makes it all the more physically draining! These people are very high level athletes with excellent stamina, as well as nerve, to be diving from those heights! IMPRESSIVE!!💯

I'm a professional diver I broke my back because my landing was off just a small bit from 30 meter I was training to do a competition 2 weeks after so I never made it to enter into the competition. Well I was entered into doing it I just never got to do it. Now I go around junior schools teaching them how bad things can happen in a split second. I live in Ireland and a lot of young kids like to jump of bridges that are pretty high. But what they don't know is there are rip currents under the lake and 27 body's have been pulled out. So I'm going on my mission to try make kids and adults alike how to stay clam in the sea or lakes not to panic just lay flat on ur back and look up at the stars with ur head going into the waves and u will just float over them and give u time to get ur mind set together and REMEMBER NOT TO PANIC. Anyway I am I off the lucky ones. I'm able to walk but my recovery is going to be a long road ahead of me it only happened in July this year and I'm still in a back brace for another while anyway. I didn't want to be screwed back together, as I said I'm a professional diver and wish to make my way back and keep doing what I love the most. Take care everybody and don't feel u have to jump to impress your friends.

People watch these and they don’t realize just how dangerous it is. You can’t live bubble-wrapped, but knowing what you’re doing, and what your capacity is, and be willing to say ‘Nope. Not for me.’ is a very good start.

While research is mixed, some studies suggest that taurine supplementation might improve athletic performance. And, in one study, people with congestive heart failure who took taurine supplements three times a day for two weeks showed improvement in their exercise capacity." © 1998-2021 Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research ^^

In rregular diving, where they enter the pool with their arms overhead, then the head, going into the water first, their hands are flat-palm against the water surface. Not pointed fingers. The palms create the "hole" in the water first, to lessen the splash the body makes. Less splash = more points. The same is true to cliff diving. They use their flat feet to make the hole into the water, first. Otherwise, there would be a lot more splash on the entry. More splash = less points.
