0:55 Joseph, you could still be an International Male model! 2:54. "He moved to Yor-rup." Joseph, the way you said Europe floored me! 😂 Great review, as always. I love it when you guys review documentaries. Thanks for all the work you do. Love from Ireland and happy Pride! 🇮🇪 ❤️
I think they should've mentioned, at the least, that _IM_ was so popular, it had a spinoff catalog of _UnderGear_ (one of my favorite sources for apparel).
I.M. reached its most public recognition when it was rumored that one of its models (a Canadian guy named David Knight, who's on the top row of the covers behind you guys, wearing a red ski jacket) had been secretly "married" to Barbra Streisand's son Jason Gould. This was before gay marriage was recognized and the story essentially represented Jason's involuntary outing. Knight still models, now as a silver fox. I have no idea if his connection with Jason was real, though.
OMG.... I'm born and raised here in So Cal and I remember the International Male store on Santa Monica in West Hollywood and my brother always having their catalogs. 😉❤️❤️❤️
Thank you. ❤ My heart so breaks for all the lives lost due to the aids crisis. I have friends still living with hiv from the late 1980's. I do remember seeing this magazine in small video shop that had that back room behind the curtain
Guess my Mom was part of that 75% customer base! As a teen I was oblivious to the origin of the catalogue and its target audience. I think I got a pair of relatively tame linen pants. The story is very intriguing--wish the doc did it justice. Thanks for the review!
I am 100 percent straight but I was obsessed with this catalog. I bought a lot of their clothing and was known for my style and ability to wear items most straight men never thought of wearing but I made them masculine and pulled them off well. I miss my wardrobe now that I’m 46 and married and unable to pull off sexy , trying more for classically stylish
Actually, Joseph... I was on a clothing website one day and saw a male model that looked exactly like you!! ( I'm glad you mentioned that) I was like, "ohhh , he models too?! Is this him?" LOL this was months ago. If i can recall the name of the clothing store, I will let you know haha I think it was "Bluenotes"
I loved international mail being young in my 20s that was my catalog back then. In the documentary they talk about how Hanover took over International Male, and when that happened that was the downfall of the catalog the fashion became very dull and boring, and it lost its allure. I stop buying clothes from them after that.

Remember growing up with "P.G. Playgirl" well. For a gay kid going through formative years in a rural area, these catalogs were a Godsend!
12:17 "that kernel itself is a great idea for a feature film" I think Nick should write the feature himself !

This will probably be the only review for this documentary that contains a Field of Dreams reference.
I think this is the only review for this documentary
Tony Ward and Brian Buzzini were EVERYTHING
My fashion sense has not evolved passed the 8th grade.
Same. Black clothes goth/ old raver hybrid all day at the age of 40. I've made peace with it.
Thank you. ❤

Vaya…es verdad que suspensor es “jock strap” pero, nunca he escuchado “suspensory garment” en inglés y, de repente, todo cuadra…🤯
I never understood how my dad got on their mailing list!😂 The Playboy connection now makes sense. I ended up walking away with all his catalogs. 😇
Great review this one is not talked about
Thanks for all the work ❤😊
Y’all review everything that’s why your channel is so great!
I wasn’t sure if you said Europe or what you said. Had to go back a few times to check ….lol

I've never seen a positive review on this channel 🤣🤣🤣
It appears you haven’t watched many of our reviews because we like a lot of things.
