@Angie Michele Sorry it took me so long to reply, I assume you probably replaced your alternator pigtail by now. If not, I had the exact same situation with mine, I was able to cut the pigtail at a junkyard from a 93 Toyota Camry with the 4 cylinder(same as ours). There should be a wide range of toyota models and years that use this same connector, even if the alternator and engine are different. Hope this helps
I probably going to purchase a 1993 Celica convertible. I am in the process of learning about the engine and learned that the values need adjusting every so many miles-will research service intervals on everything....Very helpful video. I am looking forward to watching the video(s) that will show the adjustment of the valves.
Good video :) i gotta do this on my celica 3s-ge engine 2.0 seems like a lot of hassel on my engine. We wi see as i have oil coming out of where the spark plugs are!
I enjoyed your how to video on removing the valve cover. I have a 93 toyota celica 5sfe 2,2l engine that has a problem with rough idling. When I start it up, it revs at just over 1,000 RPM then bounces back and forth between 800-1000 rpm. Checked all the vacuum hoses, egr, pcv and they are all fine. everything I have seen online points to a vacuum leak, but, there has been no leak found. Any thoughts?
punkvid619 Did you ever find the problem with your celica? I cam across your comment and its exactly what is happening with my 95 celica. I too have checked for air leaks to no avail.
Yep, a rough idle is what my '93 MR2 does. Even makes the steering wheel vibrate a lot, and interior parts buzz. lol Past 1K rpm it smooths out. Perhaps adjusting the valves will solve it? I guess if not, then I'll just have to knuckle down and overhaul the head.
For rough idle, engine mounts might be a problem too. I replaced the engine mounts and it smooth out my idle in my 95 celica. My new problem is now a possible ignition issue as the rpm fluctuates badly at idle. If your rpm is not fluctuating and everything works well besides it being loud and rough at a stop light , consider engine mounts as your most likely problem.
Still looking into the problem. A few months back it wouldn't accelerate past 20mph even with the pedal to the floor and after turning the engine off it wouldn't start back up. Had to get it towed home and it's been sitting inoperable since
What are the valves supposed to be. I thought, by the way the video started out, the you were going to show us how to do the valves. I feel like the video ended right when it was getting started. Thanks, but I wish you'd add to it.
ah dude i was hoping u had a video to put it back on because i cant out it back on the plastic timing belt thing is in the way and mines hella brittle...... what did you do?
Im pretty sure it is 17ft lbs because haynes showed 33ft lbs which outrageously high, and Toyota's original is 13ft lbs which isn't that bad, but Toyota revised due to everyone complaining that none of the 13 or 33 ft lbs worked cus they both still leaked. I just did 17ft lbs, nothing cracked everything appears ok.
i dont think the torque is 17lbs on the valve nut because when i was torquing mine down abd one of the valve nuts cracked a little and i cant seem to find/buy a replacement anywhere
hey can u make a video on how to change the valve cover intake gasket i believe mines leaking or blown because im having to put half a quart to a quart of oil per day in it
Hi Special, I have a 94 Celica ST, 7A-FE engine, and I need to replace my valve cover gasket, I was wondering if this video will apply to my engine, alot of it looks similar
ISpecialED, Hi! I have a 1994 celica gt and I need to replace the pigtail plug to the alternator It got destroyed by heat and shattered to a million pieces when I unplugged it, the only way I can replace it is either by a junkyard or the dealership, trust me their no celica the junk yard. the dealership said the only way to order it is the 5 digit number on the pigtail plug that shattered, if you could help me out and let me know what the 5 digit # on yours is, it would help me out thanks!!!!!
4:52 Deez nuts way before it became famous ahaha
I replaced my water out pipe (mine cracked) with a Camry's. Fit perfectly. The 2.2 engine parts can be found everywhere : D

Were you able to get the shims out on the intake side without removing the intake manifold or camshaft?

camry doesn't need to remove throttle cable.
Only the top bolts and one bolts for the plastic cover.
What are the adjustments for the valves?

Can you post a video on you to access the fuel rail to get to the fuel injectors
Can u make one were you show were the idle air control valve is at
so technically only the nuts by spark plugs hold the valve cover in place?
valve nut torque for these are supposedly 17ft lbs
Very helpful! Great video!
the torque setting is 26NM on the 30mm bolts
Do you speak espanish
Nice video, really helpful :)

Corollas are more than likely in the yards. Same motors and transmission options. The celica was just a Corolla with a different chassis.
