I always hesitate to purchase an advent. But in the end I usually do. FOMO. In most cases, although lovely, they are not colors I would have chosen. And it is a big disappointment considering how much they cost. Sometimes I think it would be better and cheaper to purchase a mini set in colors or a gradient that I love. But then there is no element of surprise. Maybe open each day of this year's advent for the surprise, but knit with last years that has been "adjusted" to the palette you like. I'm still trying to figure it out.
I opened my advent last year but didn't have time to knit it. so this year I got it out and rearranged it and popped it into paper bags. it has been so fun to knit up, the colours in the order I organised it into and I honestly can't remember what's next and get a surprise each morning.
Maybe you should wait and see what colours come next? And mix and match them in the order that brings more joy to you?! ✨️🎄Or hold it together with another yarn?
Morning Kate just watching you while I’m on the treadmill in my pyjamas. I really just want to sit in it but my body needs to move. I like your advent calendar but I agree with a few people said the order seems a little strange. The rap is lovely. I know a few people open everything and then decide what to do which is what I’m doing with my second comes this year. I went ,I went mad I’m doing adust of snow wrap. I don’t think you can beat socks for a single stripe a day, which is what I do every year with a swap and love it.
I know what you mean about your advent colours Kate. I bought the same advent as you but the 12 day one. I too have found the fade not quite right and it was very expensive for the amount of yarn you actually receive. I’m not sure I would buy another one. I would rip back your day 9 blue colour as it doesn’t seem to flow like the others of wait and see what comes next…..tricky!

I too love almond butter! Yes, Day 9’s color was a shock. I am sorry the colors are not doing it for you. I cannot say that I like them either and I am also a blue and green fan.
Kate, this is probably silly, but could you share how you make your porridge? I believe it’s oatmeal, correct? It looked delicious and I’m just curious if there’s anything different about how you prepare it than we do in the states.
It does appear to be a bit of an odd color progression... maybe the robin's egg blue is meant to stand out? Will reserve judgment until I see the whole thing.
I understand your frustration with the wrap. The pattern is beautiful but you are having issues with the color. My advent is giving me similar problems. The yarn is lovely but not my color palette. The pattern I didn’t care for at all. I pulled out the first 5 days and now am going to wait to see the whole thing before starting something else
Wait to knit until you have all the colors and then knit them up, as you think they feel right for you. Now it is a waste of your knitting time, you should have fun knitting!
True. But most times I am watching videos while doing other things like knitting, cooking, etc so reading the vlog via closed captioning is a bit cumbersome. It just seemed that this particular video was very hard to hear.....except for the music 😊
